| Is there a Dade girls team that can compete with Browards top teams? It seems that it has been a few years now since a Miami girls program could play with and beat a top Broward program or any nationally ranked opponent. I believe that the last girls team to have success in this area was the 2012/2013 Lourdes team, under their previous coach. Neither Gulliver or Lourdes has been able to achieve any success in this area. I am not saying that a girls team could not win a state championship, as different divisions are less/more competetive than others. Just asking why the drop off? Lourdes, the top ranked team in this sites rankings lost 5-0 to St. Thomas Aquinas a few nights ago. Aquinas is always a strong program, but 5-0? Any thoughts??

| It has always been that way......maybe is something cultural? We have good coaches but......if you notice the boys do not have any problems. Miami Dade has 3 state champions from last year. Hillel, Belen and Ransom.

| Lourdes went to the State Championship game last year, and lost a very close game to Oviedo. I'd say making the state final game is pretty good:)

| Losing to these Broward powers was the norm until Lourdes 2012/2013 run when they finished as the top ranked team in all of South Florida, ahead of American Heritage Plantation and St. Thomas Aquinas, first time a Dade girls team had done that. Anytime a team makes it to the State Championship it is an accomplishment, however 5A was weak last season after St. Thomas was moved down a division. That is why neither Oviedo or Lourdes finished in the top 10 state rankings of the 5 divisions in Florida last season. Not sure about the comment about a close game with Oviedo, wasn't Lourdes down 3-0 before the first half?

| Well, the answer to the question seems to be a resounding NO. Two of the top Dade teams have lost a combined total of 15~0 in just 3 games played. Just a few seasons ago these same 2 teams were competing and beating teams like this, both under their previous coaches. I would also have to say that some of the blame must fall on these same club coaches. Yet on the boys side the club coaching and high school coaching seem to be more consistent.

| I dont know........put Lebron James on any team and the coach is just decoration. I think that the players are the main factor on any team's success, yes, coaches do make an impact, but if they don't have the skilled players needed then it does not matter who is the coach. Lourdes always wins, well almost always. I think that public schools and private school should play in separate leagues to even the playing field.

| Agreed. Public and private schools should have their own divisions. Lourdes is not suppose to be in 5A. Not sure why they are still there? They should be in either 4A with St. Thomas or 3A with American Heritage.

| I believe that a coach proves him or herself when they go against a team of equal talent. That is when you know how good of a coach you are or have.
