I know that Rick Brenner was "inducted" into the hall of fame, but I don't see any information on the site about the hall of fame, such as "Who is in the HOF?", "What are the criteria for HOF induction?", etc.

Previously I had asked about stats pertaining to Oldtimers who were actually "Old timers" when they came into the league. (Age 50 or older) I call this group "True Oldtimers". Since there weren't any stats available, I crunched the numbers myself.

The stats confirm that there have been 128 "True Oldtimers" out of 991 players (Including the "others" category). Of those 128 players, only 75 have gone on to play more than one season, and only 38 have gone on to play more than 5 seasons.

One name clearly stands out as a "True Oldtimer" STUD with regard to his play. Mike Bacon became a rookie in the league at the age of 51. Since that time he has amassed 17 years of play, with a lifetime winning pct. of .503. He leads the "True Oldtimers" in the following categories, all by WIDE margins:
Runs
Hits
Doubles
Triples
Avg
Total bases
Slugging Pct.
Runs/Yr.
Doubles/Yr.
RBI's/Yr.
Runs+RBI's
Runs+RBI's/Yr.
He is also tied for 1st against all other "True Oldtimers" for homeruns. (1) (Only six "True Oldtimers" have hit a homerun.)

In 17 years of play he has struck out 11 times!

In short, If Mike Bacon is not already in the HOF, I would have to nominate him for that honor.

Hall of Fame nomination criteria is located in the Handouts section on the main menu. This is all I could find in Ken's files regarding the HoF, and I do not know much more about the nomination or voting process beyond what is in that document. I believe that Ned Strayer is the HoF chairman. I suggest contacting him or any YCOBL manager for more info.
Good point about putting the names of those in the HoF on the website somewhere. I will try to add something in the near future.
You also make a fine argument for Mike's inclusion in the HoF - I completely agree he is most deserving. Say something to your manager about it. Or if managers see your post, that might also inspire them.
Thanks

Thanks. I missed that document, which appears to be a working document.

BTW, thanks for the work that you are doing with the website Scott! Your work to make it a more dynamic, interactive site will go a long way in making the league even more fun to participate in.

Thank you to everyone in the contact info section, really. Your collective efforts have made the YCOBL the continuing success that it is.
Ain't baseball great?

The Commish was kind enough to send me a copy of the HOF critera, and the list of players who were eligible to be chosen for 2016. He also reminded me that everyone in the league 38 and older is a "True" oldtimer.

This got me to thinking that I may have inadvertently offended people by suggesting that only people who joined the league after age 50 are "True" oldtimers. Sorry for any offensiveness that may have been construed. Maybe I should have said "Golden ROOKIE Oldtimers" or something like that.

What I was trying to point out is the statistical disadvantage rookies (Who join over the age of 50) have (Excepting of course the amazing Mr. Bacon!) in trying to keep up with the younger oldtimers, and with older oldtimers who started generating statistics in the league when they were younger (sometimes much younger) than 50. YCOBL statistics show a more rapid decline in performance for all folks after 50.

Thus, it makes Mr. Bacon's stats even MORE amazing that he didn't start in the league until the age of 51! What would his stats be if he started at age 38?

Again, sorry if I offended any of my baseball brethren. It certainly was not my intent.

Ron
