Word is the Over/Under for hit by pitches in Sunday's Orioles/Yankees game has been set at 3...and that is just for when Meckley faces K. Green. Is it possible to hit a batter three times in one at bat? I'm researching the rule book to figure out how. Molly better bring extra ice packs along for you!

Word has it that Johnson is sending Meck to the Pine (ER) before Green sobers up that game. Should be one for the ages....

Actually, this is clearly stated in the YCOB rule book

Bylaw 4-4...If a player is hit intentionally for justifiable reasons in standard 7 inning play, said player must remain in the batters box until the league commissioner deems that no further action is required.

In the event of extra innings, upon being hit the batter is required to formally apologize to the presenter of the baseball within 30 seconds of impact due to time limitations (bylaw 21-21).

In the event that the player drilled by said bean ball so happens to be the league commission, said recipient of said bean ball is required to buy all present players, participating or not, multiple beverages at the nearest dispensary of adult libations, to be agreed upon by present libation consumers

All spelling and grammatical errors aside, that looks pretty cut and dry to me...

While talking about bean balls... we hit a milestone in our Cubs/Brewers game on Sunday. Gary Teeter of the Cubs was plunked for the 20th time in his Old Timer career. They go down as walks in the books, but it's legit. I've seen him get hit about a half dozen times in two seasons. He was actually smiling on Sunday after getting drilled. Some guys just have all the luck...

Now that is bizarre...and awesome! I'm not exactly sure why Ken decided to count HBP's as walks way back when, but as you said we continue to log them as the same as a walk. Still, that is quite an accomplishment. Gary probably gets hit so much because he's such a bad guy. -)
