| A friend of mine that's a patch ump working out of wheeling told me that Moundville ponytail (10-u) has gone to a no walks way of playing. Basically if a pitcher throws 4balls , the batting teams coach will receive as many pitches to his battter as strikes left in the count. In other words 4-0 count coach can throw 3 pitches 4-1 count 2 pitches 4-2 count 1pitch. if the batter doesnt hit any off these they're out. The ump he was very surprised how well it worked. Pitchers are still getting thier work in. In fact more girls are trying pitching. The game kept moving and defenses and batters are getting more work. No one learns from walk a thons. Food for thought..
