Mudcats comeback and win in 14.
The Indians kept putting up single runs with clutch hitting by Steve Soto (RBI single in the 1st), Brandon Asire (RBI single in the 4th), Jaime Galindo (RBI double in the 6th), Lorenzo Ramos (RBI SF in the 7th) & Galindo (RBI SF in the 8th) to take an 5-0 lead after 7 1/2. Jaime Galindo was pitching fantastic for the Indians, allowing only 3 hits through the first seven frames. Then in the bottom of the 8th the Mudcats explode. Brian King leads off by getting on base with an error, Rich Bettancourt follows with a single, then a K, then Bob Affrunti singles in a run, Marcos Perez singles in a run, Ben Agatep drives in a run with a ground out, and with 2 outs Roberto Torres ties the game with a long HR to center. So after 8 innings we have a hard fought, well played 5-5 game. It didn't stop there as both teams kept making plays ... for the Indians CF Brian Keating made 2 fine running plays, and for the Mudcats RF Nathan Ross (who also had 4 hits) made 2 great plays, Bettancourt threw out two Indians at the plate, and Agatep made play after play at SS. With reliever Torres throwing 8 strong innings (only 2 runs) to keep the Indians at bay, the Mudcats win it in the 14th. Jamil Mamdani singled, after a K, Dave Becker singled, Brian King was HBP, and Bettencourt hit a sharp grounder with the infield in that was not handled for a walk off Mudcats victory. What a great game by both evenly matched teams.
