Angels Win... Barely!
Belying their previous record, the Grays held their own against the Angels until the final out. The Grays repeatedly showed their skills, as Mike Kedor threw out 2 Angels attempting to steal and Shawn Carter kept the Grays in the game by grabbing everything hit in the middle for 1-3 put outs. The Angels turned 3 double plays (2 of them with Grays’ runners in scoring position) which made the difference in a hard-fought game. Pitcher Rick Gari survived walking 8 batters by striking out 6 Grays. In the ninth inning, the Angels hung on to win, with the Grays having the tying run on base as the game ended. Rick Gari and Shawn Carter both pitched a complete game. Troy Bregel, Dave Brown, Seth Craig & Rick Gari all went 3 – 5 at the plate. The next meeting between these two evenly-matched teams should be another close game.
