Fier On Fire As Brewers Top Titans In Ten, 5-4
Raul Verdecia drove in Jim Fier, who had just stolen 2nd base, in the top of the tenth inning to break a 4-4 tie and give the Brewers a 5-4 victory over the So Cal Titans. Fier had an outstanding day, going 5-5, including a double. Jesse Tejeda had three hits and two stolen bases, and Matt Trites contributed a single and a double for two RBIs. Greg Bertrand was solid on the mound, yielding only three hits and one earned run, while striking out eight over seven innings. Scott Singleton got the win, giving up three hits over the final three innings.
So Cal Titans Starting Pitcher Martin Campbell went the distance striking out 5. The Titans offensive leaders were Brian Johnson who turned in a 2-3 RBI triple in the 1st inning, followed by Mario Chavarin's 2 hit 2 RBI day at the plate.
