Scarborough Varsity Shutout of Bonny Eagle 14-0 in 5 Innings

Scarborough Redstorm Varsity defeated Bonny Eagle 14-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Meghan Robinson induced a groundout from Soveig Marles to finish off the game.
Scarborough Redstorm Varsity secured the victory thanks to ten runs in the third inning. Jenna Giguere, Samantha Cote, Jordan Crosby, Mollie Verreault, AJ Swett, and Katie Roy all drove in runs in the frame.
Scarborough Redstorm Varsity got things moving in the first inning. Sylvia Foley's sac fly scored one run for Scarborough Redstorm Varsity.
Scarborough Redstorm Varsity put up ten runs in the third inning. The rally was led by singles by Giguere, Cote, Crosby, Verreault, and Roy, a home run by Angelina Pizzella, and an error on a ball put in play by Swett.
One bright spot for Bonny Eagle was a single by Hannah Kaspereen in the second inning.
Pizzella led the Scarborough Redstorm Varsity to victory on the rubber. The righthander lasted four innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero. Robinson threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Allie Doughty took the loss for Bonny Eagle. The hurler allowed eight hits and three runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
Scarborough Redstorm Varsity smacked one home run on the day. Pizzella had a four bagger in the third inning.

Verreault had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
