Huskies walkoff Cubs in season opener
The Huskies pitching and defense shined in the season opener Friday night, as the home team walked off the visiting Cubs. Lane Glaser pitched 5 solid innings, striking out 6 and allowing the only run. Courtland took a brief 1-0 lead in the 4th, stringing together a few base hits. The Huskies scored their first run on a wild pitch, as the offense struggled to put up hits. In the 10th inning, each team started with a runner on 2nd. Sam Starke stranded runners at 2nd and 3rd and held the Cubs. Jake Wendland drove in Jayden Fleck with a double, as he started the inning at 2nd and scored easily. Starke earned the win in relief.
