Peaches Get Their 1st Win!

Derek Thielges drove in seven runs on four hits to lead Peaches past Diablos 14-7 on Sunday at Schafer Field. Thielges doubled in the sixth scoring three, doubled in the seventh scoring three, and walked in the fourth scoring one.

A single by Luis Felix put Peaches on the board in the top of the first.

Jared Espinosa singled on a full count, which helped Diablos tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

A single by Stephen Protheroe gave Peaches the lead, 2-1, in the top of the second.

A single by Ben Floor extended the Peaches lead to 4-1 in the top of the third inning.

Diablos tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to an error, and a single by Rick Grams.

Peaches took the lead in the top of the fourth. Thielges drew a walk, scoring one run, to give Peaches the upper hand, 5-4.

Diablos jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Peaches committed an error, and Rene Ramirez singled, each scoring one run.

Peaches captured the lead, 9-6, in the top of the sixth when Thielges doubled, scoring three runs, and Floor grounded out, scoring one run.

Peaches scored five runs on six hits in the top of the seventh inning. Thielges doubled, scoring three runs, Jeff Yaroslow doubled, scoring one run, and Christopher Ceccotti singled, scoring one run.

Ceccotti earned the win for Peaches. The pitcher surrendered five hits and three runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking two. Ramirez took the loss for Diablos. The starting pitcher went eight innings, allowing 14 runs (13 earned) on 20 hits, striking out six and walking five. Brian Nichols stepped on the hill first for Peaches. The pitcher allowed three hits and four runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking four.

Peaches accumulated 20 hits in the game. Felix, Josh Brener, R.J. Nielsen, Chris Montanez, and Ceccotti each collected multiple hits for Peaches. Peaches ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.

Espinosa and Grams each collected two hits for Diablos. Grams led Diablos with three runs batted in. Grams went 2-for-5 on the day. Espinosa paced Diablos with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game.

Peaches welcome Gators on Sunday for their next game.
