Gators Come Back and Hold on for the Win
A sunny and windy day of baseball that was memorable.
-The Diablos struck first in the 2nd inning leading 3-0, then adding 3 more runs in the 6th inning, courtesy of a HR by Nate Aguilera, making the score 6-0 as the Gator bats were cold until the bottom of the 6th inning.
-The Gators tied it up 6-6, with a six-run 6th inning, keeping the line moving.
-The Diablos answered in the 7th inning adding 4 runs, for a 10-6 lead.
-The Gators then answered back in the 8th inning with a six-run inning making the score 10-12 Gators, which stood until the end.
-The Diablos came out swinging in the 9th inning. Tyler Marderosian (outfielder, converted to pitcher) walked a few batters but never gave up any hits, and also posted 3 Ks.
-In the top of the 9th inning, Gators' Mike Hayden made an over-the-shoulder catch in left field on a hard hit by Diablos' Rick Grams, which was the 1st out of the inning, preventing things from going awry for the Gators.
-The Diablos then managed to load the bases with good plate discipline. Tyler Marderosian battled his way out of the jam ending the game with the standing score of 10-12 Gators.
Gator Offensive Notables:
Starting Pitcher, Lee Frankel had 2 doubles and 3 RBIs. Sam Gerald had 3 hits on the day, including 2 doubles as well, and 2 RBIs.
Hopefully these 2 teams will meet again (As in years past) this Spring if we end up playing in the same Division. Diablos are a good bunch of guys we have known for quite a while.
