            -          Our 14 yr old coaches are Leah, Kaila, Lexi, Emily, Maddy and Yessalyn. Team moms are Dawn and Jesenia.

~ First and most importantly every Coach, Team Mom & Coordinator involved in Lynvet is a VOLUNTEER.  We all spend many, many hours making this cheerleading league a success and we do it for our love of cheerleading, the children and our community.  Several of the adults involved in the running of Lynvet, do not even have children cheering on the league anymore.

Everyone associated with Lynvet Cheerleading MUST abide by ALL rules and regulations set forth by the Lynvet Cheerleading Association, William Floyd School District and all other property owners where we may conduct our activities.  Including the following: NO pets allowed, NO smoking or vaping, NO use of drugs or alcohol, NO offensive language or behavior, NO fighting, NO littering and NO defacing or destroying property of any kind.

~ Appropriate dress for practice – no jeans, no short shorts, no belly bearing shirts or sports bras, no off the shoulder shirts.  We should never be able to see an undergarments or body parts that aren’t meant to be shone at cheer.

-All cheerleaders must have tied sneakers on for practice.

-All hair must be up and pulled back off the face (NO hair beads, claw clips, plastic headbands or hard clips allowed).

-Fingernails MUST be shorter than your fingertip at ALL TIMES and there will be NO nail polish allowed on the days of competition.

-ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY at practice or competition.  NO necklaces, bracelets, earrings, belly rings (can‘t be worn to competitions but may be worn with a bandage coving it for practice), nose piercing, etc... Medical alert jewelry is allowed but the team adult MUST be made aware of it.  DO NOT allow your child to get her ears or any body part pierced during the season.  She will have to take them out for competition. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS made.

~ When you hear an official from Lynvet refer to SCYCA, we are referring to the Suffolk County Youth Cheerleading Association.  This is an association that we have been a member of for 20 years.  The association makes rules and regulations that we as a member need to follow in the running of our league and at competitions.

~ Parents Ethics Pledge and Competition Contract –  Please read them carefully, discuss the rules and expectations with your daughter(s), sign and return to the team moms.  (if your daughter is on the 7 or 9’s, the child does not need to sign the contract).

~ Fundraising

-      As per the 2024 registration form you signed…  No unauthorized fundraising will be conducted by any Lynvet member.  No use of the Lynvet name or logo without prior authorization from the cheerleading coordinators will be permitted.  If a party chooses to sell or order without authorization, the accountable individual/family will be immediately dismissed from the league.

-      We do not do small individual fundraisers and NO individual or family shall make a profit using the Lynvet name.

~ There is NO tolerance for violence.  This includes physical acts of violence, threats of violence or threatening behavior.

-          For no reason are you to approach a coach, a child on a team or a parent of a child on a team.  If this happens it will result in immediate expulsion from the league.  If you have a problem please talk to your team moms first and if the problem still exists please come talk to a coordinator.

-          Please remember we are dealing with children, they may gossip a bit or say something not nice to each other or about another on their team.  It will happen, they are not perfect.  But we can assure you that we stress the fact that they are a team and they need to get along and work together.  We are all about sportsmanship and teaching the girls, big and little, to work together with their team mates.

-          Also please remember the same goes for the young ladies that are coaching.  Remember most of them are just children or young adults themselves.  They are going to slip up sometimes and make some mistakes.  If you have a concern please see a team mom, don’t stand off to the side and talk to others about them.  As adults we need to set a good example on how to conduct ourselves, especially in front of the children.

~ Drop off and pick up procedure and parking

-          YOU MUST ONLY PARK IN MARKED SPACES IN THE PARKING LOT and you may use the parking lot between Hobart and WFE, the parking lot off Meadowmere and Van Buren or if necessary, the parking lot for Hobart.  The school district has asked that we follow this rule and if we don’t they can pull our permits for use of the field and/or ticket those in violation.  You cannot park along the street, along the curbs, on the grass, in the bus loops or in the exits or entrances of the parking lots.  There are plenty of spots to park in, you may have to walk a bit to get to the field.

-          Do not park in handicap spots if you do not have a handicap permit.  You will be ticketed.

-          ALL LYNVET members must be walked onto the field and left ONLY with a team adult and then you must walk onto the field and pick them up after practice is over.  No child should be in the parking lot without an adult.

-          These rules for drop off, pick up and parking are for the safety of ALL those involved in Lynvet.  PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES AND SET A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR OTHERS!

-          We will go over parking lot rules for indoor practices in September.

~ Weather

-          If we should have inclement weather while practices are outside.  We will post on the main page of the website if practice is canceled.  A final decision will always be posted between 5:30 and 6pm.  An email will also be sent but sometimes it takes a long time for the emails to go through.  The website will have the most accurate information.  The website address is, www.leaguelineup.com/lvjcheer and the email address is LVJCheer1@aol.com.

-          If we should experience bad weather while practice is going on, please do not just grab your child and run off the field.  Make sure a Team Mom knows that you are leaving with your child.  We want to make sure all children are leaving with an adult and are accounted for.  This is for the safety of the children.

~ Medical

-          If your child has a medical issue that is not on their registration form, please see your daughters team mom or a coordinator immediately.

-          If your child has a medical issue that is on their registration form, depending what it is, we may need a doctors note for them to cheer.

-          If your child has a medical condition that requires them to use an Epi Pen, an inhaler, wear a brace, etc…  We MUST have a doctor’s note for whatever it is that they need.  For example, we can’t administer an inhaler without a doctor’s note letting us know it is in fact the child’s inhaler and we can give it to them.

-          If your daughter wears glasses, you must put a strap on them for safety.  This is for practice and competition.

-          Braces can’t have any metal, hard plastic or exposed velcro on them.  If your daughter is required to wear a brace that does have one of these materials please see a coordinator for approval.

-          If your child should get hurt, in or out of cheerleading or sick during the cheer season and they need to sit out for any amount of time.  We must have a doctor’s note for them to sit out and we must have a doctor’s note clearing them to return to cheer.

-          If your child visits the emergency room for injury or illness, we also must have a release for them to return to cheer.

~ Different roles on a cheerleading team

-          There are many different things that go into making a successful cheerleading team.  Every girl will not do everything.  A youth recreational cheerleading team is made up of girls from all different skill levels and abilities.  Your child’s role on the team is up to the coaches whether it be stunting, tumbling, cheering, holding a sign or a pom, etc…  Coaches and team moms will use their discretion on who goes where.  Safety is the most important thing!

~ Games

-          The 7, 9 and 11 year old teams will be cheering at 3 to 4 games in September and October.  Once competitions start we don’t cheer at games.  Games are mostly on Sundays on the field behind Woodhull.  Every once in a while they throw in a Saturday night game.

-          All girls will receive a green game hair bow and a game tee shirt, to wear at the games.  You must provide black bottoms to be worn with the tee shirt.  Depending on the weather, the team moms will let you know if it's shorts or pants.  We do not use our competition uniforms because they are the wrong colors for the football teams we cheer for.

~ Homecoming

-          We will be marching in the Wm Floyd Homecoming parade again this year on October 26th.  There will be more information to follow.

~ Indoor practices will start on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd

            -          Once indoor practices start, your daughters practice nights may change from what they were over the summer.  As of today the indoor practice schedule will most likely be as follows (all indoor practices start at 6pm):

(Please keep in mind if school is closed or their is a school function in the gym, we will not be able to hold practice and practice will be scheduled for a different, available night, that week.)

7's at Wm. Floyd Elementary on Tuesday & Thursday Nights 6-8pm

9's at Wm. Floyd Elementary on Monday & Wednesday Nights 6-8pm

11's at Wm. Floyd Elementary on Tuesday & Wednesday Nights 6-8pm (practice could be extended to 9pm)

14's at Wm. Floyd Elementary on Tuesday & Thursday Nights 6-8pm (practice could be extended to 9pm)

-          Indoor practices are closed to everyone except coaches, team moms and coordinators.  You will drop your daughter off with the team mom and pick them up from the team mom at the door.

~ Competitions -

-          Right now we have a VERY TENTATIVE Competition schedule.  These dates can change.  We could add dates or take dates away and it is possible that all teams will not attend all competitions (especially on double weekends).  The tentative schedule right now is follows:  Hauppauge - 10/20 (teams will ONLY attend this comp if they are competition ready), Bay Shore - 10/27, Lindenhurst - 11/3, Brentwood - 11/9 (Only 7 & 9's attending), Deer Park - 11/10 (Only 11 & 14's attending), Rocky Point Varsity - 11/16 and SCYCA Finals - 11/24 (teams must meet the criteria to qualify for finals) .

-          ALL competitions are mandatory.  The 7’s will most likely compete in the morning.  The 9's will mostly compete late morning, early afternoon.  The 11’s will most likely compete in the afternoon and the 14’s will most likely compete in the late afternoon/evening.  All competition times depend on how many teams will be in attendance at any given competition.

-          There will be a competition fee of $100 per girl due in September.  This covers socks, hair bows, and uniform skirt.  Every cheerleader must provide their own cheer sneakers.  More information to follow.

-          If you are a new member of Lynvet for the 2024 season (didn’t cheer in 2023), we will need a copy of your daughter’s birth certificate.  The copy will be due in September.  Please do not bring us original birth certificates.

-          Snack at competition will be a water and a small snack.  Lynvet will be providing snack.  If your child has any dietary restrictions or allergies please let the team mom know as soon as possible.

-          At Competition parents will drop their cheerleader off at the cheer door with us and from that time on your daughter is with us.  There is no coming over to the bleachers we are sitting in just to say hi or with food or drink.  The children will not be able to leave us and go with you until the competition is over.  These rules are put in place for your children’s safety.

THERE WILL BE NO PRACTICE FOR ALL TEAMS ON THURSDAY, 8/22 and THURSDAY, 8/29.  On 8/22 all coaches, team moms and coordinators are attending a safety clinic and 8/29 is the first day of school.

1.      I will abide by ALL rules and regulations set forth by the Lynvet Cheerleading Association, William Floyd School District and all other property owners where we may conduct our activities.  Including the following: NO pets allowed, NO smoking or vaping, no use of drugs or alcohol, no offensive language or behavior, no fighting, no littering and no defacing or destroying property of any kind.

2.      I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all cheerleaders, players, coaches, officials and judges at every practice, competition and league function

3.      I will emphasize skill development and practices, and how they will benefit my child over winning.

4.      I will refrain from coaching my child or others during practices, games or competitions unless I am an official coach.

5.      I will inform the coaches and officials of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or others.

6.      I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my child and others ahead of a personal desire to win.

7.      I will support the organization, all coaches and officials working with my child, to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone.

8.      I will demand a healthy sports environment for my child that is free of drugs, tobacco and alcohol, and will refrain from their use at ALL Lynvet functions and events.

9.      I will ask my child to treat other cheerleaders, players, coaches, officials and fans with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.

10.   I will respect all coaches and officials and their authority during practices and competitions and will not question, discuss or confront them at such activities.  I will speak with them at an agreed time and place.

11.   I will never, under any circumstance confront a coach or any member of a team.  I will meet with said team’s adult at an appropriate time.

12.   I will not encourage ANY unsportsmanlike conduct at any Lynvet event, such as booing and taunting, refusing to shake hands, refusing to except medals and/or using profane language or gestures.

13.   I will help my child enjoy this cheerleading experience by doing whatever I can, such as being a respectful fan, volunteering my time, or anything I can do that will make a positive impact.

14.   I will be responsible for the conduct of all guests that I bring to any Lynvet function or event.  All children, anyone under 16, not registered to the league that attends any Lynvet function or event must be supervised by a legal adult.  Watching children not registered to the league is not the responsibility of our staff.

15.   I will let the coaches coach, the officials and judges officiate and above anything else let the children cheer!

16.   I will remember that cheerleading is not all about winning, but about learning sportsmanship and how to be a team player.  Let your children dream their own dreams, cheer and have fun!!!

If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us at LVJCheer1@aol.com

Thank You for your cooperation and continued support.  We look forward to another great season.
