Subscribe to our NewsletterMany Thanks to Dan Ogden . . .
DAN OGDEN,
retired from his Board Position after another outstanding season of softball (another Championship)
and his 8th annual Back to School Showdown Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament!
C.I.T. wishes to thank him for his untiring efforts over many years
and let him know that he will truly be missed!!!
Before his "retirement", Dan promised to keep involved, but to a lesser degree.
So, we're looking forward to seeing him at our annual "Night at the Races",
and of course, at the annual
Back-to-School Showdown Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament
which Dan has taken to an exceptional level, exceeding 40+ teams each year.
Thanks for the Entertainment . . .
Mr. Ogden,
I would like to thank you and your grounds crew for a fabulous week of entertainment. I am guessing there must have been in excess of 80 some games played at your event. The pleasurable thing of it, is that you had a plethera of talent from all areas. I was there to watch my niece play and unfortunately they were eliminated in their first two games. I, being the avid sports fan, not only stayed the day on Saturday but returned as well on Sunday. The weather was beautiful and your complex is perfect for a tournament setting. The food was good; the artist you had was excellent. It appeared as though the same 3 or 4 guys redid every field for every game, which in this case was pretty impressive. I have been to many tournaments, and I just felt it necessary to pat you on back, because of the level of talent the quality of sportsmanship and the kindness and level headed decisions made by your tournament director.
Once again thank you, I'm glad some things are still done with the children in mind.

A Tournament Thank-You . ..
Dan,
I am sorry I did not get a chance to thank you and your staff for all the hard work and dedication you put into the tournament. Everything could not have been more 1st class - from the fields prep, concession stand, everything. Great Job!
Our girls and families had a great time and we are already talking about and looking forward to coming back next year!
Now get some rest - I know I need some and all I did was coach a few games...
Thank you,
Chris Danchek - Middle Road 15U

Moon Softball compliments . . .
I just wanted to commend you on your U15 fast-pitch team that participated in the Moon All Star Tournament the last weekend in July, 2007. This isn't about the score of the game or how hard they played, but how they behaved and represented your community.
As President, I ran from field to field, worked in the snack bar and did whatever it took, and every encounter I had with one of your players was a positive experience. Even when the girls had an 8 a.m. game, they were respectful and polite as they came to get their "energy" either with a candy bar, energy drink or donut at the snack bar.
You should be proud of them.

Softball is Sizzling . . .
2007 was a great year for CIT softball!
The 18U team (sponsored by State Rep. Tom Petrone) won the league championship and placed third in the USSSA tournament, while the 15U went undefeated in the regular season, placed second in league playoffs, third at the Kennedy Twp. tournament and first in the Carnegie tournament. The 12U team won the Oakdale tournament and placed third in CIT Back to School Showdown. The 10U fast-pitch team won a tournament as well! 2008 looks to be an even better year! The 5th annual CIT "Back to School Showdown", held in August, drew a record 43 teams from as far away as Dubois, New Castle, Ohioville and Washington, PA hosting a total of 93 games making the Showdown the biggest girls softball tournament in Western PA. CIT received a call from the ASA (American Softball Association) about making our tournament the "state" qualifying tournament for the national championship next year! It is an honor our tournament and organization are talked about in such high regard that ASA officials heard of us. Kudos to all involved, especially to Mr. Softball (Dan Ogden) and the whole Calabrese family!!
