- Meeting called to order at 5:30 pm
- Lucille went over background information of Game Day
Discussed Game Day format
-The format is inspired to demonstrate the Game Day environment at youth/ high school football games.
o 3:30 minute time limit – including entrance/ exit and time between parts.
o Band Chant – 45 seconds or less
o Sideline – 45 seconds or less
o Crowd cheer – 60 seconds or less
o Fight song – 60 seconds or less
· Band Chant
o Cheer along with pep band music
· Situational Sideline
o Focus on crowd effectiveness, motion technique, and skills relevant to game day environment
· Crowd leading
o Inciting a response and encouraging the crowd to yell along
· Fight song
o Schools traditional fight song (limited to 3 consecutive 8 counts of stunts and/or tumbling)
o For teams that do not have an official fight song, refer to a popular college fight song to use
· Age of participation on a team shall be determined by an individual town. A declaration of ages must be determined prior to first competition. Game day divisions will be categorized as 14 and under.
o Each town determined their age of participation during this meeting
· For 2023 season, Game Day division will be judged accordingly
o 1st competition- Parts 1-2 will be judged and receive score
o 2nd competition- Parts 1-3 will be judged and receive score
o 3rd competition- Parts 1-4 will be judged and receive score
o 4th competition- Parts 1-4 will be judged and receive score
o Teams may opt to perform additional section(s) in each competition, but those will not receive a score, only comments
· Teams will be ranked in reach category on each score sheet. Rank reflects how the team does in relation to the other teams. The score itself reflects how the judge represents the idea of what a game day should look like to effectively lead the crowd.
· Skill Restrictions and Qualifications (taken directly from UCA website)
o No tosses are allowed
o No inversions are allowed
o No twisting release dismounts are allowed
o No running tumbling is allowed
o Single leg stunts are limited to liberties / liberty hitches
o Standing tumbling is limited to one tumbling skill and a back tuck is the most elite tumbling skill allowed
Game Day Competition Dates:
· 1ST competition: October 29th, 2023 @ Bayshore
· 2nd competition: November 5, 2023 @ Lindenhurst
· 3rd competition: November 11th, 2023 @ Brentwood
· 4th competition: November 12th, 2023 @ Sachem
· Finals: November 19th, 2023, location TBD
· Additional Notes:
o Just like in traditional, all game day competition cheerleaders must be scheduled for a minimum of three games, regardless of cheerleaders age. This does not have to be games, can be parade, pep rally, etc. (note to update how this is written)
o Discussed roster for kids being on traditional and game day in same season, proposal will be sent to the board.
