2024.08.26 - 2024 Fall Sports Preseason Workshop Announcements

Welcome to the HHS Boys Soccer Fall 2024 Season!

We are excited to see all of our returning players and families and to welcome all those that are new to the program!

There are a number of activities planned for the season highlighted below, for your reference.

POP-UP SHOP

The Hingham Boys Soccer Pop-Up Shop will open on Monday, August 26th and remain open for one week.  This is a great opportunity to buy some Hingham Soccer swag for yourself and your family.  Wear your new swag to school and to games to cheer on your favorite team!  This could also be a great chance for some early holiday shopping.  Special thanks to Julieanne Murtagh for planning and managing the Shop.

JAMBOREE

The annual Soccer Jamboree will be held at Hingham High School on Saturday, August 31st.  The event will consist of 3 officiated Varsity and Junior Varsity scrimmages beginning at 10:00 am, followed by a 12:30 pm lunch social at the turf concessions building for all Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman coaches, players, and families.  This is a great opportunity for the boys soccer program to come together to kick-off the 2024 season and we hope everyone will be able to attend!  Thank you to all who have donated and volunteered to help with the lunch social.  There are still some slots available on the SignUpGenius event page.

GAME SCHEDULES

Live game schedules for all Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman teams are available on ArbiterSports, which can be accessed from the Live ArbiterSports Game Schedules page.  You can Follow the teams and Sign Up to automatically receive scheduling updates or reminders by email or text.

FUNDRAISING AND DUES

Booster funding helps to defray team expenses not covered by the school.  There are a few different fundraising activities throughout the season, including local field lining, a car wash, and a bottle/can drive.  However, booster dues are the primary source of funds for the program.  This funding supports the players in many ways:

  • Grey practice shirts and other supplemental uniform needs
  • Jamboree costs, including referees' fees and lunches for all players and families
  • Digital photography costs, including team and individual photos for all players
  • Costs (along with player/business ads at additional cost) of year-end program book for all players
  • Some/all costs of year-end program banquet
  • Cost of year-end player and coach gifts
  • Costs of other miscellaneous program and equipment needs, like timing system, pop-up goals, etc.

While booster dues are not required, we strongly encourage each family to join the Boys Soccer Boosters by making an annual contribution of $135 per player or $200 per family if you have more than one player in the program.  Dues may be paid in the following ways:

  • Venmo @HinghamHSBoysSoccerBoosters
  • Check made payable to HHS Boys Soccer Boosters
  • Cash

Checks and cash can be given or mailed to our Treasurer, Kellie Monroe (4 Porters Cove Road, Hingham, MA 02043).

Please include the name of your player with your payment.  If paying by cash, please be sure to include a note with player name.  If paying by Venmo or check, please indicate player name in explanation or comments.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

As the season continues, there will be many more events and opportunities to volunteer and participate.  We will share more details, when available, for each of the below activities.

Team Parents & Pasta Party Coordinators

Once teams are finalized, we will be requesting team parents for the Junior Varsity and Freshman teams to work with the Boosters to communicate important information over the course of the season.  We will also request a parent volunteer from each of these teams to help schedule and organize volunteers for the pasta parties.

Field Lining

The program is responsible for weekly restriping of local fields for the spring and fall youth soccer seasons and we receive a generous payment from Hingham Youth Soccer for this work.  More details will follow on how you may be expected to help.

Car Wash

Save the date – Car Wash is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th.  The car wash is a great fundraising event.  All three teams will participate during shifts, along with parent volunteers.  It is a fun event for all and a great way to raise additional funds!  More details will follow on times and volunteer opportunities.

Homecoming

Save the date – Homecoming is Sunday, October 13th.  The Varsity team will play that day, so please come to cheer, and our program will be selling some great merchandise throughout the day, so you can also stock up on additional swag.  In addition, the Varsity team will be representing Suicide Awareness during the Homecoming game.  More details will follow on how you can help participate and support this worthy cause.

Senior Night

Save the date – Senior Night has been confirmed for Thursday, October 17th.  Please plan to come out and support your seniors in their last season of high school soccer.  More details will follow on how you can help with this night.

Year-End Banquet

Save the date – The Year-End Banquet is scheduled for Sunday, November 24th at the South Shore Country Club.  All coaches and each player plus 2 guests are invited to attend.  All players are acknowledged and receive gifts.  It is a great night and a wonderful way to celebrate the players and the season.  More details will follow on how you can help with this celebration.

COMMUNICATION

We request that all families submit a Player & Family Contact Information Form, so we have contact information for all players and parents and can compile accurate team rosters and keep all family members informed with timely program announcements and volunteer opportunities.

Most communication will be distributed from the Booster Parents by email through the LeagueLineup platform.  If you have/are receiving email communication from hhsboyssoccer@llmail.net, we already have your email address on file.  If we are missing an email address, you can also submit your information through the “Subscribe to our Newsletter” link, and we will add your email address(es) to all relevant team mailing lists.  Important email communication will also be posted under the News and News Archive sections of the Welcome page.  Upcoming events and deadlines, a program calendar, team rosters and schedules, field information, and important links will also be regularly posted.

Communication from the captains to players and fun updates on the games throughout the season will be posted on Facebook (Hingham HS Boys Soccer 2024) and Instagram (hinghamboyssoccer) Accounts.  Please be sure that the players join these groups.  Parents are also welcome to join, if desired.

As an additional note on communication, please understand that there cannot be any direct 1:1 communication from only one player to only one coach. Via text or email, if a player needs to contact a coach, they must copy another person on the message. This can be another coach, another player, the captains, or a parent.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are needed to help make this season as fun and successful as possible for the players, so please make your best effort to get involved and to support the teams.  If you have any questions about volunteering or would like to express interest in a particular area, please contact any of the Booster Parents.

We appreciate all of your help to support the program.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any of us through the Contact Info page.
