You're right about that! Everything in sports is about the money these days! I went down to Scotia Bank Place in Ottawa last month to watch the Senators play my second favorite team(the Habs are my favorite), Vancouver. I paid over 40 bucks for a seat that was behind the net, but was only a few rows from the top! If a person was to take the family to an NHL game and buy halfway decent seats and a programs and food for the family, you'd practically have to go to the bank and get a loan! Where I live, you can buy a season pass for our junior A or junior B teams for less than some tickets to the Senators for one game! It's just ridiculous! I can go and watch a junior A or B game in the area where I live for less than the cost of one beer at Scotia Bank Place! It's much cheaper to watch it on TV, as long as you don't mind listening to some of the lame announcers! I just watch Montreal games on RDS! As for the Sabres, aren't they fun to watch? Even with half their line-up out, they just keep rolling! Surprisingly, the Habs have done well against them so far this year, though. Gee, I kind of babbled on there! But yeah, everything is about money these days, no loyalty at all!

You're right, the Leafs and Habs are in tough! One might make it, but it's doubtful that both will! As for the Sens, no Bryan Murray-coached team has ever made it past the second round of the playoffs, no matter how good they were in the regular season! The Canucks look strong, particularialy in goal, but I like the deadline deals they made to pick up Sopel and Smolinski. Depth! I don't recall Michael Ryder being suspended this season, and he still plays for the Habs! He hasn't been all that great lately, but he has alot of company there! Huet, please come back! OHL is good hockey. I used to go to Kingston Canadian games when I was young quite a bit. I'm lucky, cause where I live, we have Junior A and Junior B, and I'm a goal judge for both teams. Our Junior A team is coached by former NHL player Todd Gill! Junior hockey is really good hockey! As for who's gonna win the cup, you tell me and we'll both know! It's just so hard to tell these days, it's so unpredictable!

Who cares what the Americans think? They know very little about the game anyway! Do you know what's funny and also very insulting to hockey fans in the Canadian cities? Lsst year in the playoffs, Carolina kept saying they have the best fans in the NHL. What a joke! During the season, there are many fans that attend their games dressed up like empty seats! They finally started selling out their games in about the third round of the playoffs! The Canadian teams sell out some exhibition games in September! If the NHL wants to make money, put more teams in Canada, where people actually care about the game! Hockey will never be a big sell in the states! As long as there's football, baseball and basketball, it will always be that way! I guess you're right about the Habs, seeing as how they have already won 24 cups, twice as many as anybody else!

The Habs may have only won 2 cups in the last 25 years, but just a few short years before that, they won 4 in a row! Add only 10 tears on to that and they've won 9 cups in the last 35 years! There wasn't a heck of alot of difference in the game in the early 70's compared to the early 80's! Besides, 2 cups is more than most teams have won, including some other Canadian team which claims to be the center of the hockey universe! In fact, in the past 25 years, only Edmonton, Detroit and New Jersey have won more cups than Les Canadiens! You are right, the game has changed big time! With so many teams, the days of teams winning 4 or 5 cups in a row are long gone! Still, there is no denying that the Canadiens are by far the most storied franchise in hockey history!

I have never been to the Bell Center, but I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the Forum many times! I actually was at the forum in '93 when the Habs and Leafs played, and the atmosphere was unbelievable! And they wern't even in the same conference! I can only imagine the atmosphere for a playoff series, in the Bell Center and ACC! The thing that I find with the Habs and Leafs over the years is that it doesn't make any difference where they are in the standings, one team can be in first and the other in last and they almost always play a closely-contested game when the play each other!

I didn't say attendence was bad in all the American cities! But, you have to wonder what Bettman was thinking when he put teams in certain cities or allowed teams to relocate to certain places! Florida? Pheonix? Los Angeles? Even long-time teams like the Islanders, St. Louis and Boston have been hurting for attendence in recent years! And Nashville? They're lucky if they draw 12,000 to see a team that's been at or near the top of the overall standings all season! As for Colorado, we'll see what happens if they continue their rebuilding phase and if the team sucks for a few years! We'll see if the fans continue to come out. Remember, a bad Colorado Rockies team couldn't draw flies! Remember, the Avs have always had teams that up until the last year or so that could always be considered cup contenders. And Detroit? If I heard correctly during a recent game, they haven't had a sell-out all season! Yes, there are some American cities that support their teams no matter what(Philly, Rangers, Minnesota, among others), but I don't think it would matter what city in Canada had a team. All the games would be a sell-out or pretty damn close to it!

As my dad used to say: that's about the size of it! I don't care for Don Cherry all that much! I like the way he speaks his mind and all, but if you're one of his favorites, especially if you're a "good Canadian boy", you can do absolutely no wrong! However, if you're a European, or even a Canadian or American that Cherry doesn't like, you can do absolutely no right! Don't get me wrong, I'm as patriotic as anybody, but Cherry is patriotic to a fault!

It wasn't a bad game Friday night. We lost, 4-1, and trail 2-1! I'm leaving in about an hour to go to game 4, about a 40-minute trip! We pretty much have to win on the road today, going down 3-1 would not be good, though the last 2 years in the playoffs we led each year 3-1 yet still lost in 7, so maybe it's not such a bad thing that we're trailing this year! That was a good game last night! Not just because the Habs won, but because the game had a little bit of everything! I have a feeling that going into the last weekend of the season, there's gonna be about a six-way tie for the last playoff spot in the east! Isn't Luongo playing awesome? If he plays like that in the playoffs, they could be around in June! He sure out-played the beached whale Hasek last night!

We have home ice for games 5 and 7, but I don't think that makes a whole lot of difference! We play just as well on the road as we do at home! The only difference is that our rink is regulation 200' by 85' size ice, and theirs is about the size of the Boston Garden, if that! We're not an overly physical team, but a team that relies on speed, they're not really, either, but they play well in their little broom closet of a barn!

Yes, I'm very well aware of possibilty of returning to their barn for game 6! But when you trail 3-1, you do what you have to do! All the old cliches come out now; one game at a time, one shift at a time, it's not over till it's over, etc! There have been many team in all levels of hockey that have rallied from being down 3-1 over the years! I know this is about baseball, not hockey, but remember the Red Sox and Yankees in the ALCS in 2004? The Bronx Bombers led 3 games to 0 after winning game 3 in Beantown by a score of something like 18-2! What do the Bo-Sox do? They win the next 4, including the final 2 by blowouts at the fabled Yankee Stadium! That was by far the most improbable come-back in a series in sports history! You just know that after that happened, anything is possible in any sport, and no series is ever over until the final game has been won!(All except for the Leafs winning the Cup, that will never happen! Just kidding!)

Yeah, it's gonna be tough going in to their barn! But, the one thing we have going in our favour is the way we won last night. We led 1-0 after the first, only to see them score twice in the second! I think their fans, and to a certain extent their team, thought the game and the series was over, especially the way their goalie was playing! However, we showed the same never-say-die attitude in the third that we've shown all season, scoring 3 times to take it away from them! Like the old saying, if you keep shooting, the law of averages will catch up! You just know that we will come out even harder tomorrow, but so will they, but you know that they can't help but think that they let it slip away! We've done that the past two seasons in game 5, and we never got it back, even with a chance to close at home! It should be a doozy tomorrow!
