Great weekend of racing up this way just wrapped up! In the Mods at Brockville on Saturday, for the first time in DIRT history, brothers finished 1,2 and 3 in the feature! Sunday at Cornwall, it was the second annual visit by the World of Outlaw Late Models, which for the second year in a row was won by "Kid Rocket" Josh Richards! Man, they are one fast race car! In fact, the only type of race car on dirt faster than them are the World of Outlaw Sprints! There were drivers representing about 10 states and 2 provinces competing on Sunday in the Late Models! An interesting thing happened during the evening! In the second Late Model heat, rookie driver Jordan Bland from Kentucky flipped quite violently in turn one! They took him away in the ambulance to the hospital, as he was quite sore but appeared to be otherwise okay! Well, they did x-rays and stuff at the hospital and then released him, and he made it back to the track just in time to race in the feature(in the back-up car, of coarse)! He still appeared to be quite sore and not really steady on his feet as he was walking to his car, but ended up finishing 16th out of 24 cars! All in all, a very entertaining week-end of racing!

And no, I didn't post this to brag or gloat about the races up here or anything like that! I just thought there might be some people interested, that's all!

Did Bloomquist or Steve Francis Run. Where did the top running Canuck finish.

I don't believe Bloomquist can enter Canada, as he served jail time when he was younger! As for the "Kentucky Colonal", he was running well in the feature until jumping the cushion in turn 1 and lost alot of spots, finishing in about 12 or so! The only Canadians in the field were Peter Mantha and Adam Ferri! Mantha failed to qualify while Ferri finished well back!

Are these the only two Cdn's running Dirt Late Models?

Mantha only runs with the Outlaws when they tour in Quebec and Ontario, because he races Modifieds weekly! Ferri also only races with them when they run here, but races full-time with the Southern Ontario Late Models!

When you say modifieds do you mean IMCA type mods or the goofy cars with the straight axles?
At Cornwall which cars are Faster Dirt Mods or Dirt LM's?

I guess it would be the "goofy" ones, which I'd prefer any day over the IMCA cars! I don't really care for them that much! The WoO Late Models(or any big block late model) are the second-fastest race car on dirt, with only the WoO Sprints being quicker! The Outlaw Late Models are even a bit faster than the big block mods! So, any time I mention Modifieds, I'm referring to the DIRTcar Modifieds(the "goofy" ones)!

AT Cornwall how do the lap times compare between Dirt LM's compared to the Dirt Mods (Goofy one's)?

The Late Models on average are a bit quicker than the big blocks! Probably no more than half a second a lap!

Do they ever run against each other?

No! The Late Models are quicker, wider and heavier! That would be a recipe for disaster!

Is it true that this old technology used in Dirt Mods is only used around southern Ontario and upstate New York?
Is it time to step up to the Dirt LM's?

Faster doesn't necessarily mean more technology! DIRTcar Modifieds are VERY technologically advanced!

But isn't it time to have some canucks in Dirt LM's other than Adam Ferri? Its just not the same when the Dirt LM's from the US show up in Canada and very rew Cdn's in the lineup.

Maybe, but it doesn't make alot of sense to purchase a really expensive race car for a couple of races, and those race teams are not all that keen on putting somebody in one of their cars unless it's a full-time pro! And that's only if they can find someone who's interested! eg, Billy Decker, Vic Coffey! There just aren't any full-time DIRTcar Modified drivers in Canada! Pretty much anyone from Ontario or Quebec that wants to race on dirt wants to do so in either a Modified or a Sprint!

Adam Ferri made the switch and I think more Cdn drivers will in the future. The Dirt LM's are used coast to coast in the US and are running for some good money. The Dirt Mod's are only use around Ontario and upstate NY.

Mods are also in Quebec, Penn, NJ, Deleware, Vermont and Ohio! Not all of those tracks are under the Dirt Motorsports banner, but they still race Modifieds(the "goofy ones")! Dirt-sanctioned tracks in Ontario, NY, NJ, Quebec and Deleware! I don't think the Dirt Mods are going anywhere any time soon! Car counts pretty high at most tracks!
