| you cant please everyone with this merge... regardless of how its done you are gonna here talk of teams having easier season schedules than other teams... i agree all teams need a fair chance of getting into playoffs... so to do an afc/ nfc htfd/waterbury wouldnt work if there are more teams in htfd... the only way i see this workin is a merger for playoffs... you can still have rivalry week for teams willing to travel... which would be cool...
if waterbury has 8 teams and htfd has 16 the playoffs need to rep this...
waterbury seeds 1 - 2 automatic 2 more teams should make the playoffs... let the next 4(3vs6,4vs5) play a wild card play in for the remaining playoff spots... giving 6 teams a chance for 4 playoff spots
8 teams from htfd make playoff ... seeds 1 - 4 automatic bids seeds (5 -12 )wild card for 4 remaining spots..(5vs12,6vs11,7vs10,8vs9).... giving 12 teams a chance at 8 spots... then start intergrating...
afc...htfd#1,#5,#4,#8 wtby #2,#3, nfc... htfd#2,#3,#6,#7 wtby #1,#4
afc....1st round bye htfd # 1seed, wtby #2seed (wtby#3 vs Htfd#8)..(htfd#4 vs htfd #5)
nfc.....1st round bye wtby #1seed, htfd #2 seed (htfd#3vs Htfd#7).. (wtby#4vs htfd#6)
a little confusing but would work.... let me know what ya think

| There are actually 14 Waterbury teams and 16 Hartford teams...but this is another possible solution that should definitely be brought up at the meeting Friday night.. Thank you

| if waterbury has 14 teams and htfd has 16 teams
waterbury seeds 1 - 6 automatic 2 more teams should make the playoffs... let the next 4(7vs10,8vs9) play a wild card play in for the remaining playoff spots... giving 10 teams a chance for 8 playoff spots
8 teams from htfd make playoff ... seeds 1 - 4 automatic bids seeds (5 -12 )wild card for 4 remaining spots..(5vs12,6vs11,7vs10,8vs9).... giving 12 teams a chance at 8 spots... then start intergrating...
afc...htfd#1,#5,#4,#7 wtby #2,#3,#6,#8 nfc... htfd#2,#3,#6,#8 wtby #1,#4,#5,#7
afc....no byes (htfd#1vs wtby #8),(wtby #2vs htfd #7) (wtby#3 vs Htfd#4)..(wtby#6 vs htfd #5)
nfc.....no byes (wtby #1vs htfd #8) (htfd #2 vs wtby #7) (htfd#3vs wtby#4).. (wtby#5 vs htfd#6)

| That concept looks pretty good...but the only thing is what decides where the games are going to be played and are we going to be able to get these teams to travel to where their games are scheduled?

| I think so far outsider has made the most realistic approach to the combined playoffs as I have attached a portion of the suggested seedings.
afc...htfd#1,#5,#4,#7 wtby #2,#3,#6,#8 nfc... htfd#2,#3,#6,#8 wtby #1,#4,#5,#7
afc....no byes (htfd#1vs wtby #8),(wtby #2vs htfd #7) (wtby#3 vs Htfd#4)..(wtby#6 vs htfd #5)
nfc.....no byes (wtby #1vs htfd #8) (htfd #2 vs wtby #7) (htfd#3vs wtby#4).. (wtby#5 vs htfd#6)
With this example..in order to get games played at both sites why not have the highest seeds get home field? Afc 1st rd would be played in Htfd and NFC 1st rd would be played in Waterbury..2nd rd same principle..(ex.) Waterbury #1 loses to Htfd #8 in the nfc 1st rd. 2nd rd will be played at next highest seed still playn in that division. The playoff format is evenly dispersed between the 2 divisions so everyone would have the same shot of playing at home or traveling. It could also reward the league with the teams that are knocking off the higher seeded teams. just an idea. Hartford and Waterbury are not that far apart so complaining about traveling like it is ny and FL is really gettn tired..
