"Showtime", "Air Logan"
David Logan (Barbour St/ Gators) puts on a rainy day air assult as he passes for 193 yards and 4 totals TDS (3 pass, 1 rush). New Britain Young Gunz Todd "Showtime" Hill goes on a rampage as he recorded 8 flag pulls and four sacks !. Click Here For Complete Recaps.

Bearcats vs. Gators

There was a few upsets on this rainy Sunday and this was one of the bigger ones for sure. The Gators came out and gave it to the Bearcats in a 26-0 dismantling. Dave Logan passed for 193 Yards and 3 TDs in this game and also ran in a 4th TD. Dewayne Tyler and Matt Vaccarelli both had long TD Catches. Number 23 had 2 interceptions and a flag grab on defense and Kerde Myers also chipped in with 3 Flag Grabs and a Sack. The Bearcats were coming off a hard fought game and the conditions were at its worst for this game with rain and wind really affecting the flow of the game but they just didn’t show up. QB Josh Spence had trouble moving the ball and only passed for what could be his lowest total in league history with only 55 Yards and 2 TDs. There wasn’t much to really compliment the Bearcats on statwise in this game, they quite simply got beat up. For the Gators this is a very big win for them. Some people are questioning the validity of their wins as 2 of them have come off teams in their 2nd game of the day, but that is nonsense. A win is a win. The Bearcats left the field Sunday wondering what happened. They played one great game and one bad one.

Player of the Game- Dave Logan- 193 Yards, 3 TD, 1 Rushing TD

Cowboys vs. Gang Green

This game also took place when the conditions were at its worst. The rain was coming down very hard and the wind was blowing which can really turn the tables to a run first team but the Cowboys came through in this one and sort of did what they were expected to do. Beat and inferior opponent. Jose Gor Rosario had a quiet day with 70 Yards and a TD but Rick Padilla and Kywon Romero put in work on the ground with around 70 rushing yards and 2 TDs total. Kywon Romero also caught 2 balls for 15 yards and a TD as well. Defensively Jon Cummings lead the way for the Cowboys with 4 flags and an INT. Cliff King also had an INT for the Cowboys. Gang Green just has yet to get on the same page and have yet to pull out a victory in a very strong league. I give them credit for showing up and playing hard, but they are simply overmatched. Matt Blanchette passed for 88 yards but had 3 interceptions. Mike D’Angelo caught 4 balls for 65 Yards and 3 players on defense chipped in with 3 flags a piece. The Cowboys look to be a very strong and underrated team. They have playmakers on offense, a good and strong offensive and defensive line and an underrated defensive backfield to go with it. They are going to be a force down the stretch. For Gang Green, this is a team who as stated above are in too strong of a league. Hopefully they keep coming and look to get better as a unit.

Player of the Game- Kywon Romero- 40 Total yards, 2 TDs

Assassins vs. Oilers

If there is ever a week where we can go back and wonder when the Assassins finally got over the hump, this was the week. They had 2 pretty big games against 2 teams I’m sure they have never beaten and came away with 2 victories in the rain. This wasn’t an offensive shoot out by any means, as QB Troy Brown only passed for 26 total Yards and an interception. Brown did run in a TD and Ant Mccoy also had a rushing TD as well. There defense was again the story as Defensive POY front runner Anthony Kaponis had 5 flag grabs and 2 Sacks. Aaron Amos had 2 flag grabs and 2 sacks and Ronald Black assisted with 2 flag grabs and an interception. The Oilers appear to have listened to the whispers and put Mark Moore back at QB. It was a tough week through the air but he passed for 45 Yards and a TD. Akwan Shabazz caught that TD and also had 35 receiving Yards on the day. Defensively Tshovee Bowery made his return with 4 flag grabs and Zo Gilliam had a flag grab and interception. This game was won on the ground by the Assassins who had appeared to have stepped up defensively and on the ground attack. The Oilers are in a big-time rut and cant seem to get out of it. Their schedule is not kind in upcoming weeks, and could have very much used a win vs the Assassins.

Player of the Game- Anthony Kaponis- 5 Flag Grabs, 2 Sacks

Bearcats vs. Vikings

This was a game that didn’t have the hype of previous years but is always a fun game to watch. You would think the rain would have affected these high powered and passing offenses but surprisingly it did not. The Bearcats came away with a tight victory led behind QB Josh Spence. Spence passed for 280 Yards and 4 TDs. His top target Dawud Hanif had a big day with 111 Receiving Yards and 3 TDs including the game winning td catch. Tim Mason also had a good day with a 43 yard td reception and also 3 flag grabs on defense. Cory Ferguson was a force on defense with 3 flag grabs and 2 sacks as well. The Vikings came out and played a tough game. Scott Dolch had 259 Passing Yards and 3 TDs and Ivan Schmidt had a big game with 97 Receiving Yards and 2 TDs. The Vikings defense really hurt them in this game, they couldn’t come up with many stops against the Bearcats offense and that is what ended up being the deciding factor in this game. For the Bearcats, you take the good with the bad. They played a great game vs. the Vikings, offensively they did whatever they wanted and defensively they did enough to win. For the Vikes they are in a 1-3 hole right now and could be on the outside looking in come playoff time. This time has players who don’t show up on a weekly basis and it looks like this may affect their team chemistry. If they can get all their talent down there every week, they can compete with anybody.

Player of the Game- Dawud Hanif- 111 Receiving Yards, 3 TDs

Franchise vs. Assassins

Upset number 2 of the day took place in this game. If you would have said that the Assassins who had a double header would outlast team Franchise (also on a double header) I would have thought you were crazy. Both teams had double headers therefore no excuses can be used towards either team. The Assassins again outplayed a good opponent and deserves credit for their wins. QB Troy Brown had a better game in this one with 222 Yards and a TD. He also ran for 37 Yards and a TD as well. CJ Amaro had a good day receiving with 86 Yards and Frankie Camacho caught 3 balls for 64 Yards and a TD. Anthony Kaponis again had a great afternoon of football with 4 flag grabs and 2 sacks, and Aaron Amos had 2 flag grabs and 2 sacks again. The Assassins front line is no joke. They are turning heads on a weekly basis. For Franchise they just came off a very big win vs. the Knights and then had a lackluster performance. QB Mike Calavito passed for 125 Yards but no scores. Jose Ramos contributed on the ground with 101 rushing yards and a TD and Josh Vanguilder had 2 flag grabs and 2 TDs for the Franchise defensively. Another solid performance by the Assassins in this one. They are out to prove to the league they are a very strong team, and have done that so far in my opinion. Franchise had a great win and tough loss. Rain may have affected their offense on this day, and leaving 1-1 on a day where the weather was tough and they already beat the Knights, isn’t the worst thing in the world.

Player of the Game- Troy Brown, 222 Passing Yards, TD, 37 Rushing Yards, TD

Young Gunz vs. Bulldogs

This game was slated in as the game of the day. For about a half or so it was a very good and competitive matchup pitting two of CT’s top teams against each other. Eventually the Young Gunz showed why they are the state’s best team by outlasting the Bulldogs. Chris Roberts played a great game with 259 Yards and 3 TDs. His rushing yards on the day was -19, I mention this because this doesn’t show how valuable he was on the ground and extending plays. This was a big reason why the Gunz offense got going and it should not go overlooked. The Big 3 for the Gunz of Pito (59 Yards, TD) Quiles (92 Yards, TD) and Sanchez (85 yards) did their usual as a unit. On defense there was so many players who stepped up. The top performer I think was Todd “Showtime” Hill who had 8 flag grabs and 4 Sacks. Also Michael “Chief” Peterson had 3 flag grabs, 3 sacks and an INT. And Lastly Elfren Quiles also had 8 flag grabs and an INT. The Bulldogs played tough but just didn’t do enough to get the victory in this game. Mike Cervizzi was under relentless pressure from the Gunz d line and looked uncomfortable at times. He passed for 178 Yards, TD and 2 INT. David Correa was his top target with 96 Yards for the Dogs. On Defense Mike Bartunek had a good day with 2 flags and 2 sacks and Tishay Johnson put in work with 6 flag grabs and 3 sacks. Tyrece Nickson also contributed with 3 flags and an INT. The Gunz are the leagues best, everybody knows this and they are the team to beat. It seems like no matter how good some teams do against the rest of the league, they just cant beat the Gunz. The Bulldogs should not hang their heads, they are a great team and have a great chance to play the Gunz again. They will just have to make better of their opportunity when they see them again.

Player of the Game- Todd “Showtime” Hill- 8 Flag Grabs, 4 Sacks

Knights vs. Franchise

Here was another pretty good matchup going into this Sunday that most people probably had the Knights favored. That’s why we play the games and Franchise came out and really played their best game as a team. Mike Calavito passed for 174 Yards and 3 TDs. Ric Johnson had 65 Receiving Yards and 2 TDs and the ball was spread around to a lot of different targets by the veteran QB. Defensively Juan “Carlito” Colon had 2 flag grabs and 2 Sacks and Corey Mega Williams and Terrio Law Williams both had an identical stat line with 3 flag grabs and an INT. The Knights are another team like the Vikings who if they don’t step it up, they may not make the playoffs. They are now 1-3 and haven’t been the force we are used to seeing. Scott Bard had a good day with 350 yards and 4 TDs but he also threw 2 costly interceptions. Garry Coles had a huge day again with 150 Yards and 3 TDs and Sean Aldieri also had 94 Yards and a TD also. Defensively Ryan Gemmell had 7 flag grabs to help the Knights. Rob Paradis also had 5 flag grabs. For Franchise this was a huge win. They have long been a team who had a lot of pieces, but their pickups this year in Mad Dog and Mega have really helped this team gel and form a great unit. The Knights are in a situation they are not too familiar with. They can either bounce back from it or fall down even further. They have a difficult schedule ahead, it doesn’t get any easier for them.

Player of the Game- Mike Calavito- 174 Yards, 3 TDs

Eagles vs. Hit Squad

This game was another one like above where the Hit Squad was probably the favored team coming into the game especially with Jamie Bryan back in the fold. The Eagles did a brilliant job in neutralizing one of the state’s best players and came out with a big victory. Brian Gelsomino passed for 109 Yards and 2 TDs and also ran for 24 Yards and a TD as well. Bryce Metzger had 39 receiving yards and a TD for the Ealges as well. Brett Burnam led the way on defense with 4 flag grabs and 2 sacks and Eugene Miller contributed with 4 flag grabs as well. For the Hit Squad this is 2 losses in 2 weeks where their offense was non existant. Jamie “Rocket” Bryant was back in the mix but he didn’t help them put up many more points from last week. He passed for 121 Yards and a TD. Joe Macon had 73 Yards and a TD for Hit Squad as well who needed a lift on offense. Sean “Smooth” Haynes and Tyrell Milleage had a sack a piece for the Hit Squad. This was an interesting game. Some teams matchup good against other teams and the Eagles seemed to have a great game plan today. They have a lot of talent on board and are a team that come playoff time will be very scary and very tough to beat. The Hit Squad is a tough team to read. They beat up on 2 inferior opponents and then lost to 2 teams on the rise in the CFFL. With or without Rocket, this team needs to identify an offense if they want to secure more wins in this league.

Player of the Game- Brian Gelsomino- 109 Passing Yards, 2 TD, 24 Rushing Yards, TD
