Something must be done about the ref of last Sundays men soccer games...

The one gentlemen who wore dark shades all day while there was no sun and smelled like he drank a 12er in the car on the way to the field or maybe it was a 20pack the night before but is was coming thru his skin if you got close to him!!! He does does not even the know the rules at all and it is very frustrating when he is clueless about a call!!!

I know reffing is tough and i have done it in the past, but if you dont know the rules why are you reffing the games??? The older gentlemen ref who is usually out there is good and at least while talk with you and tell whats going on and what happened in his opinion... I believe this is what good ref's should do...
Dont just throw a yellow for someone getting upset with your blatant misunderstanding of the rules of soccer...

*** for example a high kick dangerous play was called when no one was within 10 yards of the player, the player confused and rightfully upset asks for an explanation only to receive a yellow??? This is now a 3 min pen with man down and this should only be used if absolutely necessary and not just when the refs call is being questioned... Teams become frustrated and when the ref doesn't know how to ref or control the game and of course there will be more problems.

I am not from DP and i agree they do play rough and i have not seen all there games but the ones i have seen the other team retaliates sometimes with greater force and stooping to that level is not soccer anymore in my opinion... Everyone talks trash but there is no reason to lay your hands on the other player with direct contact and that should never be allowed and individual players should be banned for some amount of time...

As i see it, if the refs are able to lay down the rules and call them correctly people will respect the refs more and there will be far fewer problems...

CptNick, you're not going to like all the referee's in the world. Maybe he did have a bad call but I guarantee it won't be the last bad call you see from a referee...nobody is perfect.

If he smelled like he was drinking then he's pretty good at covering it up because he talked normal and frequently ran up and down the field during the game without stumbling or falling; and most of his calls were right on.

I agree the referee's should know the rules and hopefully they are given some kind of short test to ensure they do. However, I'm not sure of the policy for hiring a referee.

the refs are all a joke. they dont know the rules. that is just a simple fact. i respect them for giving it a try but come on. the have no clue about the game and its kinda funny. and trust me its ot that hard to run up and down the field drunk. and none f his calls were right on. they all belong reffing girls U13 soccer. and even that is pushing it

The simple truth is those are the referee's we have and we need to play on whatever they call. If you know somebody better suited for the job of a referee then have them sign up; but I guarantee somebody will complain about him/her to.

Personally, I believe they're a little strict on their calls but not all teams/players are from a club league and we need to keep that in mind. The movement and play of the game will be based on recreational league rules and gameplay.

The simple fact is that all of you soccer players are palying recreational soccer- FOR FUN. The city has done away with the soccer program in the past entirely just because of the type of bickering that is going on right now. I don't even play soccer, but it sure looks like fun. I would hate for all you guys to lose your sport and have to drive somewhere far. Grow up, be men, and enjoy being healthy enough to still play.

That comes from the sport that was fighting about who's bat was bigger.

Yes the loaded bat debate was hot, but words on a web site over bat size is different from fighting with each other, or the official, on the diamond or field. I've never been to one of the city's soccer games, but from what I've read, it sounds pretty..."entertaining". I haven't seen THAT kind of action on a base ball field; no one had been ejected from any of the games we played or watched. just take that word of advice....the bat debate on the website prompted some action to be taken in the softball league. Don't let your actions on the field encourage anything to be taken from you guys. Have fun out there!

The only thing that i am saying is that with
**17 teams x $250-300 per team it seems that the league should be able to find decent refs that have some experience***

Maybe that guy had experience but it sure didnt seem like it... I remember a big british or australian guy reffing our game in the winter once and he knew what was going on and everyone respected him and that is all that i am begging for now...

I know refs will always be thought as making wrong calls by the players but at least the refs should know the rules to begin with and therefore a lot less potential for things getting out of control would exist.

Good day to all
