We have just completed week 4 for Sunday soccer and there are too many players that take this game too serious. Just this week there were a total of at least 7 red cards! 6 of those reds were given in just two games!
Victorville 6vs.6 adult soccer is supposed recreational, which means for fun. There are kids and families out here.
The league is growing at an extrordinary rate and the red cards need to stop!

Have a great Mothers Day to all !!!

I believe it is not so much the way people play (with ambition and heart) as much as how they respond when they are called for a foul. If players would simply take heed and walk away, the red cards may not fly as freely as they are. As a group, players need to just show some character before we loose the league . . . . .
Yes it is rec, but there is nothing wrong with being competitive either. Just walk away and keep quiet if you are called for a foul, it happens.

I agree,, some play with great passion because we love the game.. others come to play around..
I like to win.. and will try my best.. others just run around not caring if one is giving its best..
about the red cards.. I agree about walking away when a foul is called..
After a yellow card is given to a player, this player should get an idea that refs will be attentive in case they commit another foul..

Soccer is fun, yes, but also competative. It is a recreational league, but when you involve a playoff format it changes from being just for fun to a competative league, no fault placed on the league format, just the nature of the beast.

For the number of cards being given in the previous weeks, another issue needs to be addressed. I believe the cards are the officals attempt to try and show an effort to control the games. I am not placing all the blame on the officials. The players are the parties responsible for their actions. Their actions are the result of the officials inability to maintain control from the beginning. The officials attempt to maintain control is reactive, when it should be a proactive response, that starts at the beginning of the game, not when the situation has already escalated beyond their control.

On a lighter note, Coldwell Banker's game vs. Chivas on Sunday, I felt was well officated. The officials either made the call or they did not, and I noticed a little more consistency. The key is CONSISTENCY.

well said firedawg, I know the refs are sometimes not that consistant. We did have a ref meeting the thurs. before and control of the game was 1 of the topics. Were all the games this past sunday consistantly controled ? No. some were but, I know the refs are improving.

We are here to have fun. I agree with you all on this issue. Our team is finally coming around. Hopfully we can keep our mouths shut, but we seem to be doing better with that as far as twards the refs. We still us some profane language as far as talking to our team or when we mess up. We have a few more things as a team that we need to work on. I think we shouldn't even try and argue the point with ref, unless you send your captain to argue the point the correct way.

A couple of notes: First, we are removing players who think that a physical response is appropriate for a verbal attack. Second, although our officials can control who plays and who leaves, managers should be proactive and remove players before a problem occurs.

Finally, I would rather lose a team or two because we are too harsh with our penalties instead of losing teams becasue players are too abusive. So the message is, if you want to cuss at refs or teams, you'll need to do it somewhere else, because you are not welcomed here.

I appreciate the managers who are taking an active approach with their teams.

Yea soccer is fun but like firedawg said you put playoffs in the mix and it changes everything. As for the red cards,I recieved a straight red for throwing an elbow after being pushed from behindAt no time did I throw a punch or make any agressive movements.I actually tried to walk away. But I was still give a red card...........That being said I would to publically apologize to Dsfc and their forward that I hit.
