The teams who do well with the refs seem to understand that they should adjust to the ref. Teams who struggle with the refs want the refs to adapt to them.

Every league on earth has players who complain about refs, pros down to AYSO. What players fail to understand is that the refs make calls on what they perceive to see. So if a player made an action, from the ref's point of view, that appeared to be a foul, it's the player that needs to change. He/she should ask himself "what am I doing to make the refs think that fouling someone?" It sounds a little corny, but if everyone took this kind of attitude into a match, everyone would have a much better time.

Also, keep in mind that refs are human too. And they'll put up with so much, but when a team constantly complains about each call, it might make a negative difference. That's where a manager should step in and control his/her team. In the pros, I can at least understand that a player's livelyhood might be in the balance to some degree, but in rec leagues not so much. I want to ask the players who get overly upset out there if they really thought that they would travel through life with everything going their way? Did they think that nothing bad would ever happen to them? It really is a character issue.

We are adding limits to red cards in the upcoming seasons. It basically centers on players and teams who are receiving an unusually high amount of red cards.

Bottom line is that you should be having fun out there. If a ref making a perceived or otherwise bad call will ruin your day, then you shouldn't being playing.

Another classy thing I saw this weekend, is when a team used players for the playoff who have never played before and has 15 guys on the bench and sits the 7 or 8 players who have been playing all season, just for a win in a rec league. What about those teams who are adding players for last two games of the season. It would seem like the city would want to watch this, if a player not sign up gets hurt, it might cost a penny or two. I bring this up, because when I ask the ref to ID some players he said "we ID for age only not if the're on the roster."

I'd like to say that i agree with you. Calls don't always go your way and our team does like to argue with calls or at least have the ref explain the call to us, but by the end of the game, there's no hard feelings. What ever happened on the field should just stay on the field, if you have a problem with ref you should talk to them about it after the game or the following week after you've cooled down. And if our team has affended any refs i'm sorry, but by the following week we usually apologize in person. I think having a limit on red cards is a great idea. Some of the greatest players have recieved red cards in the most crucial situations, for instance David Beckham was red carded in France 98 world cup, Their out come was they lost in PKs to Argentina. In world cup 2002 numerous players were red carded for taking dives. What it comes down to is self control, we shouldn't be blaming the refs for this we should look at our selves. Me personally i'm usually quit and don't say much in a game except to my team mates, and talking to the players i'm defending when the balls dead, to get to know the player a little bit. But i can't speak for the rest of my team .

Mounties........you obviously havent seen the horrible calls being made.A ref standing atleast 30 yards way made a call this weekend when the other ref was about 5 feet from the pklay. That paticular ref constantly make horrible calls and its usually against our team more so than others.I might complain about most of his calls but I am agruing the right call.I dont agrue if the calls is made right(in our favor or against)thats not the point. He needs to stay refing the womens games because he can not control the mens games.especially when he seems to be friends with some of the teams.Further more he was insulting me after he gave me yellow card.Which eventually cost us the game.

First of all, no matter what the referees are the 3rd team on the field.
For example, sometimes a defender would be pulling on the jersey and the closest referee can't see it because of the angle that he/she is looking at. Alot of times the other ref can see it and hopefully he /she makes the call.
For the comment about the referee should ref the women games, that won't happen becasuse if everyone got to pick the referee's that they want than you can kiss the league goodbye.
Good calls or bad calls, that is the decision of the referee. Accept it and move on with your life. If your life is soccer, than I'm sorry !

Classy, it's a cop out to blame the refs for a loss. They are part of the game, they call what they see. When you are a ref you realize that when a play is very close to you it is easy to miss something. For example, when a ball is on the line and very close to you, what do you watch? You watch the ball. When you are looking down at the ball you probably won't see an errant elbow, but to someone far away it would be obvious. Again, show me a league where they don't complain about officials... World Cup, Gold Cup, MLS, watch them you'll see the same thing. It's the players that need to adjust. You cannot go onto the field and assume that an official will be perfect. You must understand that angles and perspectives are misleading. Now with that being said, I'm not saying that we are not working to improve, we have, for example, removed officials from time to time and added new ones into the mix.
I have watched games and I have played in games with these refs, they are out there because they love soccer. Many of them are out there because they are trying to help.

Over, if your question was about ineligible players, the rule is as follows for team rosters:

"3. Teams may add and/or drop players at any time up to the last game of the first-half of the
team’s schedule. After that game has been played, NO ADDITIONAL PLAYERS MAY BE
ADDED TO THE ROSTER, without the League Director’s approval. A player may be added
or dropped by turning in an addition/deletion form to the Recreation Office, Site Manager, or
Soccer Official BEFORE that player may participate."

If you want to protest a possible inelgible player, the official notes it on the score card, with that person's name. However, officials do NOT have official rosters with them. You have to file the protest the next day with a $25 fee, and it would be verified against the official team roster that is on file with the City. The only ineligible player an official can immediately rule upon, is one that is under age, which would be verified by ID. Hope this answered your question. :)
