Hey, earn your homeruns! ASA's goal is to have the athlete's ability decide the game, not the equipment. Why do you think you need a $300 bat? You're good enough without one, right? You can hit a run-scoring double in the gap in right with a $50 WalMart bat. Save those bats for some of those big tournaments down the hill. They are softball's version of HGH and we don't need them in our leagues.

I know the general consensus seems to be that "rules were made to be broken". NOT TRUE! Believe it or not there are a lot of us who truly enjoy playing the game of softball for the sheer enjoyment of cooperative friendly competition. Sounds CRAZY, I know. Whatever the rules are, they are there generally for safety & a level playing field. Doesn't matter what kind of bat they let us play with, those of us who just like to play(fairly), we'll just keep playing. 97mph, 93mph or even wooden bats, we're there. Keep the faith Dave.

I love the game and will also play with whatever. Broomstick and watted up tape- let's get it on. For the love of the game baby, for the love of the game! Even though I do own the $300 98 MPH bats as well.

At least they will be cheap. Maybe the leagues could provide them with the field so they know they are stock. Where are you getting your info. anyway? It sounds like a rumor.

ASA has a website where you can get the facts- http://www.softball.org

The only applicable bat rule change for 2008 is as follows:

Rule 3, Section 1 G: The bat barrel shall be free of audible rattles when shaken. The bat barrel shall not have signs of excessive wear.

*Bat Manufacturers have suggested that this rule will help idntify bats that have started to break down internally.
