you shouldve given them some change and a smile i mean you wasted money on that lame soft toss machine you can give a bum a dollar. That dollar wouldlve helped the bums more then the soft toss machine can help you.

I'd say the soft toss is working . He took the batting titles for give it a ride and fly right in winter leage.About the bums I was with you after the game on field 2 when the one guy started to get crazy.

I have talked with a few of the bums around the park. None of them have ever gotten crazy with me. Sometimes they even help us round up the homerun balls. Grover even bought one of them a coke for helping us once.

yes i agree they are not bad there just there to collect cans and trying to make a dollar thats all. but a soft toss machine i dont think will help my guy doesn't have won and he won the batting title with an 8.95 average i guess it comes down to just skillz...

Hey, if Dibbes wants to keep his (and others) kids safe, I think that's a legitimate discussion topic. As to OBP, I can vouch for him. .700+ spread over 3 nights a week.

My view- Help the homeless. Keep the women and children safe. Cheap shot about the soft toss.

What kind of things should we look out for Dibbes? Are they breaking into cars or anything like that?

Collecting cans is not a job, so I don't think they are trying to "make" a dollar. They are trying to find a dollar, which could be why they live in the park in the first place. Most of them are probably nice friendly people who have had a bad run, but I'm not willing to risk my families safety to find out. The city needs to clean this mess up before something bad happens.

we can make a softball gang. we will call ourselves the southside bum extinguishers and we can ban together and claim our territory back and bully the bums out. we can chase them out fly right style. with our blue bandanas and we can hit hardlinedrives at the bums with our evadell power that should do the trick.

On Sunday - no, not unless you count the lady who had a dozen puppies stuffed in a duffle bag and asked people if they wanted to give the dogs a home.
Or the guy who was sleeping on the bench at ED` and one of the moms, made him get up.

One Thursday night, there was a guy sleeping up in the playground equipment, so we didn't let the kids go on the playground. I don't know how he slept through all the noise, though.

What kind of problems did you have? We were there for game 1 and game 2 last Sunday.

Dibbes, his wife and kids and my girlfriend, kids and myself were on field 2 after the 2nd game on sunday hitting ground balls to each other when a homeless guy with no shirt or shoes on was walking through the park talking and arguing with himself talking about how he was going to get his gun and come back and shoot everyone.

I have no problems with the bums... If I have food or money I'm more than willing to give it to them.. I'll even put cans aside and give the pile to them.. they are not there to harm your family.. they just want to collect cans... I don't see why your wife wouldn't feel safe... I mean she has you there to protect her right?? You should give her a bat to hold if she's that scared that way she can beat the bum if he tries anything.. lol.. But seriously, bums are not going to hurt your family.. and if they do try I'm sure everyone at the park will gang up on him if your on the field playing.. And as for the bum that was talking to himself saying he was going to shoot everyone.. I'm sure he has some sort of illness or on drugs... or just said that to scare you guys.. but no bum is going to make me feel unsafe at the park and ruin my fun..

Sorry to hear about that Dibbes. When we are there as a team or group we will, and always should lookout for one-another. I have the same feelings towards bringing my kids. I don't feel that they are in a safe environment. I do not think there will be a satisfactory permanent solotion; other than letting them know that you mean business when you ask them to leave your family alone. We do have law enforcement at our disposable as well as many individuals on the ballfield with "PEOPLE" skills. If we cannot win them over, then we need to hand them over.

I'm out there all day. If someone has a problem let me know. If your living out there near the river you definitly have mental issues. I've seen quite a few of them myself that day. It was a nice warm day and they seem to come out. But if anyone has any problems let me know and I will see what I can do. The park is for decent families and children and we don't need to worry about them.

It doesn't matter what team you are on or who your family or friends are if i see something thats not right i'm not gonna let anything happen . All i'm saying is I don't want my kids or anyone elses kids seeing me doing that. That kind of stuff does and wll have an effect on them .......

Has anyone contacted law enforcement,or aren't there some playing out there already?I may feel safe out there but i am a 200 plus pound man my wife and kids are not and if iam playing ball i am not watching over them.It only takes a second for a tragedy to happen. As far as being bums, drug addicts,or winos how does that exclude them from being violent or perverts?I'm sure if you were to check the records you would see that most violence or sex crimes are commited by people under the influence.I don't care who it is if someone makes a threat i take that seriously!!!!!

It wouldn't be the first time some mentally ill person killed another over trivial reasons. And it being Sunday with allot of games the city should have some law enforcement present with all the people there. As should there be some emergency medical response close by due to a serious injury on the field or maybe a foul ball hitting a small child etc....Hell a rent-a-cop or citizen patrol even

Ok Dibbes... that dog was only protecting those people!!! And the dog did not almost eat that guy... the dog did not attack him.. all the dog was doing was barking and growling.. basicly warning the guy to back off. If the guy was smart he would have asked the other man or the mans wife to get the ball. And that girl blew it all up by getting in that mans face. All I know is that there really would have been drama if they would have beat that dog with a bat... But we got the ball back and nobody got harmed.. that's all that matters!!

Is this the post you were looking for HOP?

This season when I have been in the outfield, I have observed one of the (insert your politically correct term for someone who lives in a park here) people training their dog to attack and bite his arm that was wrapped in towels and a jacket. It was like it was right out of an Animal Planet special on K-9 attack dog training. The same dog goes crazy when we go after those HR balls. It wasn't a pit bull though, looks to be a german shepard mix.
