Author TOPIC: SAY NO TO FREELOADERS

This is a subject I commented about on a prior post. I believe it's a topic though, that deserves it's own message board.

I wanted to get different opinions on the matter because over the last few years I've paid around $400 or so for players who've commited themselves to playing, then for one reason or another seem to slip by without paying a dime!

While I know I've allowed this to take place in some instances, for the most part it's people just flat out taking advantage of other people for no other reason besides the fact that they're just plain "FREELOADERS"!!!

This is what I had to say in the above mantioned post to another player/manager. I think it needs to be included in this one...

"I'm sorry to hear that Linda... It's a shame how some people take advantage of others by FREELOADING!

I believe if you can't pay your debts because you may be going through financial problems, then you really have no business spending money you supposedly DON'T have on other unnecessary things!

There should be no excuse for not paying your fees once you have started playing on a team... If there's even a hint that you may not be able to pay up, people should man up and say so IN SEASON, NOT AFTER IT'S OVER!!!

That's just common courtesy and goodwill! If people think that they're so good that they don't need to pay, all team captains should start posting their names on this message board to let it be known so nobody else gets taken by freeloaders!"

"the Red Sox don't deserve me" A direct Manny quote. That kind of a freeloader. Or is it free-loafer. Guy does not play hard. Don't let your kids watch him, he's a really bad example of playing for the love of the game. (sorry stones, I'm watchin' my Angels put the whoopin' on the Sox and he's just embarrassing). Gotta gloat while I can!!!

I understand Eldash... I'll reserve my MLB comments for you on a different topic though. Good job on the sweep kid.

What are your thoughts on this topic though? I don't think any of us here make $20 Mil to be able to afford to pay for players!

I'm glad someone on this board understands. Most managers have taken the financial burden when players don't pay up for registration and shirts. I am not going to call out the players who have done this to me, but they know who they are...

Everyone knows what karma is... it'll bite you one day...

Isn't it interesting how a lot of the freeloaders have $300 bats? And then there,s the ones who don't even HAVE a bat? I'm not sure we can even accomplish anything about them, most don't care about who pays as long as they get to play. I think the only way to control it is you can't even let them play one inning 'til they've payed, but then you'd have forfeits. If they're decent players, somebody will let them play. It really sucks when guys don't pay AND then don't show either.

That's cool if someone is in a financial situation and lets the manager know that they may not be able to pay. Key words: LET THE MANAGER KNOW. And not wait until after to the season and can't/won't/doesn't pay. That way the manager has the opportunity to decide if they want them on the team bad enough to pay for them, or not. It's called common courtesy....

Yup lots of free loaders out there.. I know serveral.. I'm a freeloader but only for my mom's team.. lol.. but Yeah it sucks when I see my mom pay for the whole team and only several people pay back.. they think they don't have to pay cuz they are good and other teams would be more than willing to take them... but hopefully things change around and realize managers are getting mad

AM A LITTLE NEW TO THIS SO BARE WITH ME,I WANTED TO PLAY BALL THIS YEAR BUT FROM THE LOOKS OF THE COMMENTS I WAS DISSAPOINTED!WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD LET ANY OF THESE PLAYERS STILL PLAY WITH OUT PAYING.MANAGERS SHOULD "MAN UP"!IF THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY,SAY IT TO THE PLAYER THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH.DONT MAKE COMMENTS BEHIND THEIR BACKS!!!!YOU GUYS HAVE THE BATS BUT WHERE ARE YOUR BALLS??!!?

That's pretty clever there "girl up"! Obviously though you haven't lost any money or been faced with the decision of taking a player out because they haven't paid, then having to play with either 9 or even 8 players!!!

Like I said in the beginning, you try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and sometimes end up getting burned! What makes you think anyone is going behind people's back with this? Unless you are part of the problem and think we are talking about you that is...

Girl... you really don't know anything about anyone's specific situation here. Managers, such as myself, give people the benefit of the doubt. If a player says they are going to pay, I expect them to pay.

BTW... it's not behind their back, it's to their face. The freeloaders know who they are.
