Titans Advance to the dance
SP's Dave Knoll and Mario Pena dueled in the 109 degree heat at Cleveland HS. With "no tomorrow" on the line, both team were biting their nails through 6 long innings! The Titans scored 2 runs in the second inning, driven in by Emilio Benavides. The 45s would answer with a single run in the 5th. The 45s best opportunity came in the top of the 7th inning with Ward Dotson at the top of the line up cracking a solid hit and subsequently scoring on a double by Jade Devitt, to make it a tense 3-2 game. With runners now on 2nd and 3rd and after a strike out, the coach called for an intentional pass for the hard hitting Garrett Ray, which paid off for the Titans as a hard grounder to Dion Deas at 1st turned into an impressive 3-2-3 DP! That got the momentum going in the bottom of the 7th where 9 consecutive batters got on base and the Titans pushed across 7 runs. The 45s continued to fight until the last out, and plated 3 runs in the 9th to make it a 10-6 final. Congrats to the Colt 45s on their great season!
