Jones and Gennaro lock horns ... 'cats prevail. Mudcats starter Ben Jones hurled a masterful complete game to best the Owls, allowing only 3 hits. Joey Gennaro was equally impressive for the Owls, as he throws a complete game as well, only allowing 2 runs. The Owls took the early 1-0 lead in the the 1st as Steven Ferguson walked, stole 2nd and scored on a David Smartt triple. In the 2nd the Mudcats got even as Jones singled, Brandeaux Tourville was HBP and Casey Matthews singled in the tying run with a big 2-out knock. In the 5th the Mudcats got the go-ahead, and final run of the contest as Joseph Lyman singled, Tourville singled, Dave Becker singled, and Nick Haley singled in the run in which a Mudcat was thrown out at the plate to limit the damage. The Owls did load the bases in the 9th on some uncharacteristic wildness by Jones, but they could not bring in the tying run. Well played game, by two good teams.
