Bruins Score 2 in the 8th for the Win
It was a back and forth battle between the Pirates and Bruins, featuring the league's top two pitchers. The Pirates Rich Brito kept pounding the strike zone while the Bruin's Dave Noll battled the deep Pirate line-up, relying on a solid defense making play after play. Leading 6-4 after 5, Brito looked unbeatable. But games are won and lost from the bullpen, and when the Bruins turned to ace Reliever Bill Brown and the Pirates stayed with CG master Brito, the tide began to turn. Brown came in from the cornfield and threw 3 dominant no-hit innings to spark the regular season champs and earn the victory. Closer Brian "The Situation" Golen then slammed the door in the ninth with a K-K-P1 inning for the save. The Bruins scrapped for every run, with MVP candidate Jade Devitt delivering a clutch RBI single in the eighth, followed soon after by a two out rally to score the go-ahead run on a bases loaded walk by Jesus Cabrera (3 RBI). Hats off to a classy Pirate squad who finished a great season with an outstanding effort.
