Angels Come Back-Headed for Title Game
The Mets scored single runs in the second and third to take the lead. The Angels came back with 2 in the top of the fourth to tie it, one in the fifth and 3 more in the sixth to build what should have been a comfortable 5 run lead with 3 to play. However, given the history between these clubs nothing can be taken for granted and the Mets scored 5 quick runs on the Angels pen to tie it up. With the tieing and go ahead runs on base, Big Lee Ellis came in and put out the fire with the score still tied at 7. The Angels bats came alive in the eighth, as the Angels scored 5 on monster shots by Ellis, Davis and Celano and Ellis pitched a 1-2-3 bottom for the win. Danny Carrillo had a monster day at the plate, going 4-5; Jerry Aebi had 2 hits and 2 rbi, Tim Hopkins was 2-5 with a double and 2 rbi. Special accolades to Edwin Bonilla who played a superb 3B and Gary Walsh who played a suberb 2B. Without the great Angels defense, the Angels don't have a chance to pull this one out. Congrats to the Mets on a well played game and a great inaugural season.
