Small Ball Beats Long Ball In Friday Night Thriller

South Park jumped out to an early lead as Chad Jacob hit a two-run HR in the first inning off of Quinn starter, Tom Simcho. Simcho was relieved by Jim Pasquine after 2/3 of an inning. Pasquine gave up a solo shot to Nick Arnoni in the second that put the South Park squad up 3-0. Quinn Construction started to fight back in the top of the third. Pasquine lead off with a double and then Zack Miller, Anthony Girdano, and Tarran Senay all followed with singles that brought Pasquine home to make it 3-1. Then, as the Mudcats were getting hot, Greg Schneider hit into a 3-5 triple play to end the rally. In the 5th inning, the Mudcats tied it up 3-3 with an Adam Becker single, Pasquine walk and Zack Miller double. As soon as Quinn Construction tied it up, South Park took the lead back with a Ryan Dodson two-run blast making it 5-3. Greg Schneider got a run back in the 6th all by himself. Schneider walked, stole second, stole third and came home when the catcher's throw sailed into left field. South Park threatened in the bottom of the 6th. With one out, Nick Arnoni reached base on an error and Tyler Amedure singled to put runners at 1st and 2nd. With Pasquine tiring, the Mudcats gave the ball to Schneider. Schneider fanned Zach Dugan and Arnoni got caught stealing third to end the threat and the inning. In the top of the 7th, Kevin Quinn reached base on an error and got moved to second on a Becker sac bunt. The Mudcats pinch ran Jake Liposky for Kevin Quinn. With an open base, South Park decided to intentionally walk Pasquine. With a 3-0 count, Liposky swiped third base and came home with the tying run when the ball went into left field. Pasquine went to first on the intentional walk and advanced to second on Miller's sac bunt. Girdano reached base on an infield hit and Senay followed with a single to right to bring home the go ahead run, making it 6-5. Schneider blew away the three hitters he faced in the bottom of the 7th to secure the hard fought win.
