Defense and Pitching Pave the Way!
The first ever start on the mound for Vinnie Consolo was a gem, tossing 7 shutout innings. The defense (led by Jesse Luken and Jonathan Lane) paved the way for a Squires win! As a whole, the Squires' outfield robbed the Eagles of several doubles on a gorgeous day in Reseda.
Dave Cavanagh cranked an RBI double (on a 1-2 pitch with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth) to the deepest part of left-center to give the Eagles their only run. The Eagles played hard, but 8 errors in the field ultimately led to their defeat. As a testament to their talent, however, the Squires were only able to put 4 runs across.
