There are not enough words to describe the Martinez Family. The amount of dedication, enthusiasm, energy, pride, time, effort and energy that they put into our boys is undescribeable. My son has been with them for 3 years now and I have witnessed 3 brothers who work together as a team to educate, motivate and mentor our young men to be the best they can be. They do not stop at coaching, they go above and beyond. They teach the boys about the real world. They are constantly pointing out the importance of not just being Baseball players, but they adamantly stress the importance of grades and being respectful, responsible contributing members of their communities. I can go on forever, but I am proud to be a Wolf Mom! I am proud to have such inspiring and caring coaches... Martinez Magic!! WEPAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

I want to start out by saying THANK YOU to Melvin. Our son Charles "Dylan" Lebron is now a part of GSC. He was a transfer student his sophomore year from catholic school. Melvin guided us in the right direction. Our son loves his baseball family. Its been a pleasure to watch him transform into the ball player he is. It started out with Steve Martinez which loves to make the boys run. Growing up in Williamsburg I'm happy that the Martinez brothers have given back to the neighborhood. Melvin not only do you coach Dylan you also coach our youngest son, Enrique. We are so lucky to have you as their coach. Keep up the good work. We support GSC all the way. Let's go GSC!!!!!!! I played for the gsc wolves for 2 years and I regret failing off both years ... It's something I'll regret the rest of my life !! I came to gsc cus of my brother pitufo. The team they had that year wit rada ,Jonathan Rodriguez , melo , gonzo, Marvin , elvin etc was a gr8 team and it made me wanna follow in his footsteps ... Coach Melvin an caballo was two of the best and most caring coaches I have ever been around in my life.. I mean those two genuinely cared about the players on the team ... Along wit Jeffrey Merced who was my jhs basketball coach I know they really had their foot in these guys asses everyday ! Congrats to u guys and all the gsc alumni Im proud to have attended gsc and be apart of a gr8 family ... And to mr Merced thank you for being hard on me .. At da time I was a knucklehead and u really had a hand in me growing up ... Thanks

I am so proud of you all! All of your hard work and sacrifice paid off by winning the title over, an extremely good opponent, George Washington HS! Let's go for the Repeat next year! Congratulations again. This is definitely a prestigious achievement. Best Wishes, Felix Pacheco

This is wonderful. I am a Wolves fan though I have never seen you play. I played for Eastern District in 1952 and 1953. We did not have the schedule that you guys enjoy. We played about 15 to 18 games per season. We had decent teams with some good ball players. In 1952 our coach was Nat Mazer and in 1953 the coach was Harry McCormack. I will send this on to a couple of my old EDHS teammates and hope they respond. I will also try to get into Brooklyn to watch a game. Please know, that like so many of you, I loved playing the game. God bless and have a great year. EdiG

As part of the 2002-2004 teams I would like to thank the Martinez brothers for being the Iron Horses of the GSC Pro Program. These guys dedicated their time to help me not only to become a better ballplayer but also a better person. These coaches will push you to the limit to make sure your in the best shape of your life before a season. I started playing baseball at the age of 7 and never in my life had better coaches than these guys. finally I graduated at the top of my class in 2004 and received scholarship to Florence-Darlington Tech Division 1 school in south Carolina to play baseball, unfortunately i had to turn it down but was still able to continue my education locally and graduate with a bachelors in exercise science. I want to wish the 2012 team good luck and make sure you guys bring that trophy home because is well overdue. THANK YOU MEL, STEVIE AND EDWIN MARTINEZ FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE AND WISH YOU GUYS NOTHING BUT THE BEST!

i would like to start off by saying that i love the comment that Mr.Frank Rodriquez made. it seems like kids may not love the game like some of us did when we played but i hope and pray that we all appreciate the effort and practice that one as to accomplish in a daily bases just to be better then the guy next to you or even the guy 3,000 miles away from you, however with that being said i would like to remind the current GSC baseball players to be focus on your number one goal and never let anybody, any team, and mainly yourself stand in the way of being the greatest players that you can be. never be intimated by any power house team. go in the game like your the team to beat.one other reminder to the current baseball players, i promise you one thing. if you guys play like a family and help each other on and off the field you guys will make it very far in the game of "baseball". I know by experience. to melvin and the family i love you guys from the bottom of my heart and keep raising these great baseball players that "you" the coaches are producing.

I have been watching the progress of Grand Street Campus for many years, having been a former alumni at Eastern District High School. I was on the first baseball team that was formed in 1947, the year that Jackie Robinson came to the Brooklyn Dodgers. What the Grand Street Campus team has done in recent years is truly a remarkable story. The team's accomplishments could only have been achieved with hard work, dedication and devotion to the disciplines that make for greatness.I have never met Mr. Melvin Martinez, the coach of Grand Street Campus, or his brothers, Steve and Edwin, who together have developed a team that has shown such talent and aptitude. They have my sincerest admiration for their leadership and their love for their team to have developed the raw talent into first class ballplayers. I would have been delighted to have been a player under their watchful eyes and I know I would have benefited from their knowledge of the game. Competitive sports greatly helps develop leadership and insight into human behavior. You will all benefit from that experience. I believe that there will be many ballplayers from Grand Street Campus that will make professional ball, the dream of all young men who have held a bat or ball in their hands.I still relive that dream after all these years gone by. Make that dream come true for yourselves. My very best wishes to you all. Sincerely, Norman Lev

The Martinez brothers have been a Staple in the grand st community for years. But what you kids don't understand is how hard it is to deal with all the types of players you guys can be... From the kids that sit and pout, to the kids that don't play the game right, to the kid that puts too much"pressure" on him self. But in the end, from the coaching standpoint you are all like our kids. So when you win a close game remember all the practice and the times the coaches made you run, to get that situation right to make you win that game. REMEMBER THE HARD WORK, AND DEDICATION. PLEASE PASS THAT ON TO YOUR KIDS... wishing you the best... Frank Rodriguez

Dear Grand street baseball, I remember way back when GSC baseball was just another program. Students struggled to maintain grades to play and graduate. I'm so proud of the GSC baseball program today!!!!Years of hard work and perseverance has change the vibe of the school. The dedication of parents, teachers, administrators, coaches and ofcourse players has put GSC baseball on the map. This is a program that has strive for excellence. The main focus is education and baseball 2nd. The greatest thing about the baseball program it has motivated students to study and graduate. The opportunities stretch further with opportunities to play college baseball after graduation. THis is what Grand Street Campus baseball is all about!! You have my support for anything. Keep up the good work!! I'll be watching... healthy regards, Jb baseballs living legend

Out of all the years I've ever played baseball I have to say that nothing tops playing at Grand Street Campus for the greatest manager and coaching staff on this planet! I've played for Grand Street Campus my last two years in high school and always tell myself I'm an idiot for not playing freshman and sophmore year. This team is the best, will make you the best, and will always be the best. There are a true family and all baseball athletes who play for the Grand Street Campus Wolves will feel the enthusiasm that I still feel today. This baseball program is what you call a TEAM! Melvin Martinez is indeed the best coach anyone can play for. Not just because he knows the game of baseball better than anyone else or because he always leads his team to the playoffs but because his personality is amazing. He is a role model and a person who will lead you on the right track. For everyone reading this I'm going to tell you like Melvin told everyone, "Stop playing for Guadeloupe, Lindsey, and McCarren and get yourself a team that knows how to play the game like Youth Service or Bonnies, especially the WOLVES." 2007-2008, 2008-2009 # 25 CF, 2B Wilfredo Morales "Willie"

Let me start off by saying that this shouldn’t be titled guest list it should be changed to family notebook because that’s what you get when you enter this program a family. I was part of this program from 2001 until 2005. I’ve been playing baseball since the age of 4 and never had a greater experience then the one I had with this program. If you want to take your game and life to the next level then these coaches should be your brother’s keeper. I want to thank all of them for helping me achieve my goals and having the experience of my lifetime. I have nothing but good things to leave on this website because even when they were wrong they were someway right. I am currently in the University of Texas Pan American a Ncaa Division I school, gratefully with a full scholarship. I owe all of my success to joining the wolves. Its like we all started off with ham and cheese sandwiches and left there with steaks. The lessons learned are unexplainable, the brothers you meet are unbreakable and the fun you have is priceless. I feel like I’m Obama giving a speech but it’s that serious. Good luck to the Grand Street Campus Wolves. I will always represent!!! Ronald AKA Record Breaker

My name is Jeffrey Hernandez, Graduated from Grand Street Campus in 2005. Received a full scholarship to Division 1 Clarendon College in Texas. Just wanted to wish the team the best of luck. You guys are fortunate to have an all star coaching staff. They are Tuff but with good intentions you will with out a doubt look back and thank them for pushing you to the limits (Mentally and Physically). I just want to thank Coach Stevie Martinez for pushing me to the physical limits that put me at top physical shape for college ball, Coach Melvin Martinez for teaching me to be a student of the game, and Coach Edwin Martinez for blowing out his arm daily to ensure our superb pitch recognition. Best of Luck in 2009. GSC Alumni Jeffrey Hernandez, 2005
