Congratulations Oakdale 10U slow pitch tournament team for winning the Beechview 7-team 10U tournament by defeating South Fayette 8-7 in a thriller. Oakdale trailed 7-0 in the 2nd inning before rallying back with 4 in the 2nd and 3 in the 4th inning to tie the game. Oakdale took the lead in the bottom of the 6th and shut down the the 2-3-4 hitters of South Fayette 3 up 3 down. South Fayette did not have a runner get past 1B after the 2nd inning in a unbelievable show of defense by Oakdale.

Oakdale 12U Tournament Team Mt Washington Tournament CHAMPIONS

Congratulations Oakdale 12U slow pitch tournament team for being the CHAMPIONS of the Mt. Washington Tournament. Oakdale defeated Bellevue Avalon 7-6 in a come from behind championship victory. Oakdale trailed by one on the final at bat and rallied to score two runs to win the championship.

Oakdale in the semi-finals was down 6-4 in the last inning with 2 outs before rallying to score 4 runs on the final out. Brookline, record of 3-0 in preliminary round play, rallied back to tie it and had the winning run on 3rd base. After two intentional walks to load the bases the game went to extra innings with a shoestring catch in RCF. Oakdale scored two in the 8th and held on for the victory with the tying run on third on a fly out to LCF.

Congratulations Oakdale 12U Tournament Team for their 3rd place finish in the Oakdale Tournament. Oakdale defeated Elliott 6-5 in the qtr final game winning, lost to rival South Fayette in the Semi-Finals 12-9 before winning the 3rd place game 19-15 over Bellevue Avalon.

Oakdale 15U Slow Pitch Tournament Team in Brookline Tournament

The Oakdale 15U slow pitch tournament team is in the Brookline tournament and won their 1st game 16-9 over Munhall. They lost the 2nd game to TJ 12-4 and won an exciting last inning comeback win 8-7 over Southside. Oakdale lost to TJ in the 1st game of the single elimination round 12-3.


Oakdale Cronin Little League CHAMPIONS

June 21, 2011
Congratulations to Oakdale Cronin Little League team with an incredible story of perserverance and upsets to win the Little League championship over Findlay Milletary 10-7. Oakdale Cronin started the year 0-5 before finishing 6-10 regular season with the #7 seed in the playoffs. They upset the #2 seed Findlay Quinn in the 1st round 7-6 even having to use callups, upset the #3 seed Oakdale Lauderbaugh 13-9 in the semi finals before upsetting the #4 seed Findlay Milletary to take the championship.

COngratulations West Allegheny 12U travel team on winning the Kennedy Tournament by defeating Kennedy 13-3 in the championship game. West Allegheny was led by 7 Oakdale players and managed by Mike Claus, former Oakdale manager and board member.

Congratulations West Allegheny Pony League Champions led by former Oakdale manager and board member Mike Claus and containing 3 former Oakdale players Colin Claus, Austin Dunlap and Jimmy Martin. WA won the best of 3 championship against Robinson by winning 15-7 in game 1 and 13-3 in the final game.

Congratulations Sturgeon 8U All Star Team for winning the Findlay 8U Tournament. The Sturgeon team was a combination of Oakdale (5 players and managers) and McDonald all stars. Sturgeon won the championship game 14-1 over Kennedy.


Congratulations Sturgeon 8U All Stars - Champs of Green Tree Tournament

Congratulations Sturgeon 8U All Star Team for winning the Green Tree 8U Tournament. The Sturgeon team was a combination of Oakdale (5 players and managers) and McDonald all stars. Sturgeon won the championship game 21-20 over South Fayette in an incredible 7 inning game. Sturgeon overcame an initial 8-0 deficit, then rallied in the bottom of the 6th to score 4 runs to take the game to extra innings. SF scored 1 in the top of the 7th, but Sturgeon scored 2 in the bottom of the 7th for the win.



Congratulations Sturgeon 8U All Stars - Champs of Oak Glen, WV Tournament

Congratulations Sturgeon 8U baseball team for completing their tournament sweep by taking the championship of the Oak Glen, WV tournament beating Oak Glen 9-8. Oakdale's Nathan Nolan delivered a 2 out game winning RBI single in the bottom of the 6th, and Oakdale's Shane Kennedy was voted the championship MVP.

The Sturgeon 8u All-Stars were 15-0 for their tournament season and won the championship in all 3 tournaments they entered with a team of 1/2 Oakdale and 1/2 McDonald players.

Congratulations West Allegheny "B" Travel Team, which was a combination of Oakdale and North Fayette 12 year olds, for winning the Beechview Bash Tournament.

West Allegheny Slow Pitch Tryouts for Varsity/Jr Varsity/Jr High

August 13, 2011 – 12:00 PM

Makeup Date: Wednesday August 17th 7:00pm at Oakdale Boro Park

There will be tryouts for the West Allegheny slow pitch fall softball teams for Varsity (grade 9-12) JV (grade 9-11) and Jr High (grades 6-9) for the fall WPISL League, which is equivalent to travel ball. Anyone that attends West Allegheny school districts is qualified to tryout including players from Oakdale, North Fayette, Findlay, McDonald, etc. as long as they attend WA. The games are played in the fall against quad A level teams from around the area including North Hills, North Allegheny, Bethel Park, Shaler, Fort Cherry, Montour, etc on Saturday's and Sunday's and played as double headers. West Allegheny won the Varsity championship in their 1st year in 2009.

The Little League Organization has banned most composite bats from baseball at all levels except for the approved bats in the link below. The WABL has voted to follow the lead of Little League Baseball and ban the all composite bats except the list below for safety reasons.


Oakdale 2011 Fundraiser Tickets (Olde Country Lucky Lotto)

This year we are trying something different, instead of having lottery tickets based on the daily number for $10, we are using Olde Country Lucky Lotto scratch off cards with much smaller ticket amounts. Have the person scratch off a box and it will show how much they owe for one lottery ticket. The costs range from FREE to $5.00. The drawing will be held at the Minor/Little League All Star games at Oakdale Boro Park on June 11th. Top prize is 32" flat screen TV + $1200 cash, 2nd prize is laptop computer and $600 cash, 3rd prize is iPod Touch 8GB + $250 cash. There will also be a drawing for everyone that sold their entire book for cash prizes.

Lenten Spaghetti Dinner/Bake Sale Fundraiser 4/8/11

Please support our 4th annual Lenten Spaghetti Dinner/Bake Sale Fundraiser, which will be held Friday April 8th from 4pm - 8pm for a very inexpensive cost of $7 for adults and $4 for children (10 & under). Takeout will be available. Donated bake goods will be for sale and a Chinese auction/door prizes will be available.

Fundraisers such as this allow us to continue to have the lowest registration costs in the area. Feel free to forward this and tell your family, friends, and neighbors to come support the Oakdale Youth League.

OYL in Oakdale Memorial Day Parade

Oakdale Youth League players were encouraged to come and join in the annual Memorial Day Parade by meeting at Sils's at 9:30am on Monday May 30th. Candy was provided to distribute to the crowd as we walked in the parade.


Oakdale Hosting Minor and Little League All Star Games 6/11/11

Oakdale hosted the 2011 Minor League and Little League All Star games at Oakdale Boro Park Saturday 6/11/11 at 6:00 and 8:00 respectively. Each team has 18-20 players on it from teams in the WABL including Oakdale, North Fayette, Findlay, and McDonald. The games were announced over a PA system and there was music and festivities during the games. Pictured above was Oakdale's Gary Lauderbaugh receiving an award for 25 years of service with the Oakdale Youth League as a manager and board member.


Oakdale Youth League Annual Picnic 8/28/11

August 28, 2011 – 12:00 PM
The Oakdale Youth League's annual year end picnic is scheduled for August 28th starting at noon. The league will supply the main dish and beverages and asks everyone to bring a side dish or dessert. There will be a skills competition for each age group for prizes. The picnic will hold a chinese raffle and 50/50 drawing.

Oakdale Sponsors Boys Winter Training Camp/Clinic

Starting Sunday 1/9/11 and ongoing for 10 weeks, the Oakdale Youth League is hosting a BOYS winter training camp/clinic for FREE at the North Fayette Community Center (Library/Gym) every Sunday from 9am - 10:30am for 7 yr olds thru 9 year olds and 10:30am - 12:00 for 10-12 year olds. Please take advantage of this great new program that the OYL is investing in to improve your skills.


West Allegheny Youth Football In Snoop Dogg's Big Dog Bowl

Congratulations West Allegheny Youth Football with their invite to play in Snoop Doggs Big Dog Bowl in California for the youth national championship tournament. The West Allegheny team has a number of athletes from the Oakdale Youth League playing for the team.
