Oakdale 2013 fall ball softball consists of softball teams at 8U and 10U slow pitch (2 teams) in the CVC League, 12U slow pitch in the GPGSL and the West Allegheny Slow Pitch Jr High, JV and Varsity teams in the WPISL. 

West Allegheny Slow Pitch Tryouts for Varsity/Jr Varsity/Jr High

The West Allegheny Slow Pitch Softball Club is conducting tryouts for fall softball in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Softball League (WPISL). Tryouts will be held August 5th at 7pm (Rain Date August 6th 7pm) at Oakdale Boro Park in Oakdale PA.

Tryouts are for girls entering 7th-12th grade who attend the West Allegheny school district. The club plays at 3 levels , Varsity, (grades 9-12) , JV (grades 9-11), and Junior High (grades 7-9). Games are played on Saturday and Sunday which start in early September thru the end of October. Each game is a double header usually playing 14 games, with playoffs for the Varsity only.

Some of the schools involved are Montour, Fort Cherry, Bethel Park, NA, Seneca Valley, Shaler, Fox Chapel, North Hills, etc. This is a highly competitive league which produces some great softball at a tournament level of play. This sport is now recognized by the West Allegheny School District with a place in the year book and on college transcripts. West Allegheny won the Varsity championship in 2009 in WA’s first season and took 1st place in Jr. High play in 2011 and 2012.

Congratulations Oakdale 12U Tournament Team CHAMPIONS of the Westwood Tournament.  Oakdale in pool play beat Westwood 13-9, Carrick 17-4 and lost to Elliott in 9 innings 12-11.  Oakdale as the #2 seed defeated Carrick 17-11 before defeating Elliott in the championship game 16-10. 

                                  

Congratulations Oakdale/South Fayette 15U Tournament Team CHAMPIONS of the Brookline Tournament.  Oakdale/South Fayette in pool play beat Mt. Lebanon 27-3, Brookline 8-5, and Kennedy 15-14.  Oakdale/South Fayette beat Brookline in the championship game 24-3.

                                        

Congratulations Oakdale 10U Tournament Team CHAMPIONS of the Elliott Tournament.  Oakdale defeated teams from Elliott, Mt Washington, and Castle Shannon to win the tournament.  Oakdale crushed Castle Shannon in the championship game 22-1.

                                             

Congratulations Oakdale 10U Tournament Team CHAMPIONS of the South Fayette Tournament.  Oakdale took the tough path by coming out of the losers bracket of the double elimination tourney by winning 3 games in a row on Sunday.  Oakdale defeated South Fayette in back-to-back championship games including 13-3 in the 2nd game to win the tournament.

                                 

Congratulations Oakdale 8U Tournament Team CHAMPIONS of the ElliottTournament.  Oakdale went undefeated in pool play and finished the tournament season a perfect 13-0 with 3 tournament championships.  Oakdale defeated Beechview in the championship game 13-7 to win the tournament.

                          

Congratulations Oakdale 8U Tournament Team CHAMPIONS of the Greentree Tournament.  Oakdale went undefeated in pool play.  Oakdale defeated a team from West Virginia in the semi finals and South Fayette in the championship game 18-5 to win the tournament.

                                 

Congratulations Oakdale 8U Tournament Team CHAMPIONS of the Carrick Tournament.  Oakdale defeated Beechview 13-3 and Carrick 15-3 in the early rounds of the double elimination tournament.  Oakdale defeated Mt Washington in the championship game 4-3 to win the tournament.

Congratulations Oakdale Nolan 8U team winning the CVC playoffs CHAMPIONSHIP with a 6-5 victory over Oakdale Kiss in an all Oakdale chmapionship game.  Oakdale Nolan completed the perfect season 14-0 in the regular season and winning the semi finals over Scott Twp 6-4 before winning the championship.

                                    

Congratulations Oakdale Bolton 12U team winning the CVC playoffs CHAMPIONSHIP with a 22-8 victory over Midway in the championship game.  Oakdale Bolton also took 1st place in the regular season with a 13-2 record.

Congratulations Oakdale Kiss 8U softball taking 1st place regular season with a 13-1 record and for being championship runner-up losing a defensive championship game to Oakdale Nolan 6-5.   

Congratulations Oakdale Tomcik 10U softball taking 1st place regular season with a perfect 14-0 record and for being championship runner-up losing to Midway 8-5.

Oakdale is hosting the 2013 Minor League and Little League All Star games at Oakdale Boro Park Saturday 6/8/13 at 5:00 and 8:00 respectively. Each team has players on it from teams in the WABL including Oakdale, North Fayette, Findlay, and McDonald.

Please support our 6th annual Spaghetti Dinner/Bake Sale Fundraiser, which will be held Friday April 12th from 4pm - 8pm for a very inexpensive cost of $7 for adults and $4 for children (10 & under). Takeout will be available. Donated bake goods will be for sale and a Chinese auction/door prizes will be available.

Fundraisers such as this allow us to continue to have the low registration costs and distribute free hoodies every three years to all players. Feel free to forward this and tell your family, friends, and neighbors to come support the Oakdale Youth League.

Kickoff the 2013 season with all Oakdale teams playing other Oakdale teams on April 20th at Oakdale Boro Park.  We will also have OYL team and individual pictures at Oakdale Boro Park during the day of festivities.  Teams should show up at least 15 minutes before their timeslot.  Finally, fundraiser ticket stubs are due on that day also.

If you cannot attend registration you may also register via mail by printing a registration form and sending a check payable to OYL to 607 1st Street, Oakdale, PA 15071. Registration is due by the end of February.

Fundraiser ticket money is due at registration.  Each family will pay $50 for 5 rafflle tickets.  When you sell the tickets you get your money back to keep and only need to turn in the ticket stubs.

The Oakdale Youth League's annual year end picnic is scheduled for Sunday August 25th starting at noon at Oakdale Boro Park. The league will supply the main dish and beverages and asks everyone to bring a side dish or dessert. There will be a skills competition for each age group for prizes and an egg toss competetion The picnic will hold a chinese raffle and 50/50 drawing.
