DULUTH -- Anthony Bush has been selected to be the Padres' general manager for 2012 by the club's executive board. Bush's responsibilities include issuing player contracts, assigning jersey numbers, and serving as the club's representative at the annual Upper 13 League meeting. Bush is also the club's director of baseball communications.
Chruscielski Named Manager

DULUTH -- Matt Chruscielski has been chosen as the player-manager of the Padres for the 2012 season by the club's executive board. Chruscielski, who also coaches VFW youth baseball for East Duluth, led the Padres in batting (.303) in 2011. He has been a player for the Padres since 2008, and has garnered two team awards: the 2011 Most Improved Player, and the 2009 Gold Glove.
Chruscielski will still be seen on the field as a pitcher and first baseman. He posted a career-best 3.38 ERA in 2011, and has led the club in both doubles and slugging percentage the past two seasons.
Chruscielski replaces Anthony Bush as player-manager. Bush had been manager since the team's establishment in 2007, except for seven games in 2009. Bush steps down after five seasons with a career mark of 36 wins and 96 losses, a .273 career win percentage.
The highlight of Bush's tenure was in 2008 when the Padres qualified for the WBA Playoffs in just the second year of the club's existence, having gone 7-5 in league play. The club plummeted to a 1-25 record in 2009, having lost several key players from the 2008 squad. The Padres have shown steady improvement over the past two seasons, posting their best records, 9-15 in 2010 and 12-19 in 2011, in the club's five-year history.
Lewis, Pionk to Join Padres

DULUTH -- Jake Lewis (RHP-OF) and Tyler Pionk (SS) have agreed to play for the Padres in 2012. Lewis, a senior at Proctor High School, will have to wait until the Rails conclude their season before he joins the club. He will also play for Proctor's American Legion team. Pionk, a 2011 Proctor graduate, is currently playing junior league hockey.
Lewis sports a 17-2 varsity career W-L record and a 2.07 ERA. He was named to the Lake Superior Conference First Team and the Duluth News Tribune's All-Area Team in 2011. He plans on attending and pitching for Wisconsin-Superior in the fall.
Pionk, a four-year starter for the Rails, was twice named to the Lake Superior Conference First Team. He holds school records in career games, at bats, runs, hits, and doubles.
Nylund Signs with Padres

DULUTH -- The Padres signed Nick Nylund, a catcher for Mesabi Range Community and Technical College, for the 2012 season. Nylund is a 2011 graduate of Proctor High School. He played in all 26 games as a senior for the Rails, batting .292 with eight doubles and 13 RBI. He joins his older brother Tim on the Padres.
Padres Sign Everson, Scanlon

DULUTH -- The Duluth Padres have signed two more players from Proctor High School's 2011 section championship team, adding Pat Everson (3B) and Justin Scanlon (2B).
Everson, who plays for Mesabi Range Community and Technical College, became the first third baseman in PHS history to record over 100 assists. He ranks third in school history in career games and is tied for third in career doubles. He ranks tenth in career RBI and bases on balls.
Scanlon is playing for St. Scholastica. He set a new PHS record with a .424 career batting average, breaking the 39-year-old standard of .400 set by Terry Egerdahl. Scanlon was the first player in PHS history to be named All-State, and the first to be selected to play in the Lions All-Star Series. He was twice named All-Lake Superor Conference, and was also named to the Duluth News Tribune's All-Area Team. Scanlon ranks second in PHS history in career hits and on base percentage, third in RBI, fourth in runs, and fifth in slugging percentage.
Everson and Scanlon join Cody Dolsen, Jake Lewis, Nick Nylund, and Tyler Pionk on the Padres from the 2011 PHS squad.
Padres 12, Haugen Hornets 4

HAUGEN, Wis.-- The Duluth Padres defeated the Haugen Hornets 12-4 in a non-league amateur baseball game Sunday at Haugen.
Winning pitcher Anthony Bush (1-0, 0.00 ERA) allowed one unearned run on five hits and three walks in five innings with two strikeouts. Reliever Matt Chruscielski pitched the final four frames for the save. He allowed three runs on seven hits, two walks, and a hit batsman. He had three strikeouts.
Duluth led 8-2 through seven and one-half innings, but Haugen pulled to within 8-4 and had the tying run at bat in the eighth inning. Duluth tacked on four runs in the ninth.
Duluth's Corey Pavlich was 4-for-6 with three runs. Chruscielski was 2-for-6 with two runs, a double, and three RBIs. Bob Baxton was 1-for-3 with three runs, a double, and two RBIs, and Kevin Hendrickx was 1-for-5 with a run and two RBIs.
Haugen's Greg Aune was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Doug Hoff was 3-for-4 with one run, and Ben Larson was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Hoff was the losing pitcher in relief of starter Justin Everson, who allowed one run on one hit and two walks in three innings with three strikeouts. Hoff allowed three runs on five walks in one-third of an inning.
It was the season-opening game for both clubs.
Duluth (1-0) next travels to Cumberland, Wis., on Sunday, May 6, for a 1:00 p.m. non-league game against the Cumberland Islanders.

DULUTH -- The Duluth Padres defeated the Ashland Merchants 5-2 in an Upper 13 League baseball game at Bulldog Park on Sunday.
Winning pitcher Anthony Bush (2-0, 0.90 ERA) pitched five innings and allowed one run on five hits and two walks. He had four strikeouts. Matt Chruscielski pitched two and two-thirds of scoreless relief, and Jesse Olson picked up the save by pitching the final inning and one-third.
Duluth's Bob Baxton was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Losing pitcher Bobby Tyndall tossed a four-hitter in a complete game effort. He allowed two earned runs with six walks and six strikeouts.
Scott Ekstrom was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Ashland (0-1).
Duluth (1-0 league, 2-2 overall) travels to Haugen, Wis., on Sat. to face the Haugen Knights in a non-league game.

DULUTH -- Mike Lewis hit a two-run walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Duluth Padres defeated the Cuyuna Range Miners 11-10 in a non-league amateur baseball game at Bulldog Park on Saturday. Duluth, down 10-6, rallied for five runs in the ninth inning.
Lewis was 3-for-6 with three RBIs. Corey Pavlich, Kevin Hendrickx, and Nick Moran had two hits apiece for Duluth. Moran had two RBIs.
Duluth's Matt Chruscielski set a new club single-game record by scoring five runs, and Pavlich became the first player to play in 100 games in the club's six-year history. Pavlich (1-0, 0.00 ERA) picked up the win by pitching one inning of relief, a scoreless top of the ninth.
Logan McElfresh picked up the loss. He allowed two earned runs on three hits, two walks, and one intentional walk in two-thirds of an inning.
Jason Hite was 3-for-6 with a double and two runs scored, John Hoge was 1-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, and AJ Hartshorn was 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and three RBIs for Cuyuna Range.
Duluth (1-0 league, 3-3 overall) hosts Port Wing in an Upper 13 League game at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Bulldog Park.

DULUTH -- The Duluth Padres defeated the Port Wing Boilers 5-4 in an Upper 13 League baseball game at Bulldog Park. Pinch-runner Nathan Windschill scored from second base on a throwing error on Corey Pavlich's sacrifice bunt as Duluth won in the bottom of the ninth for the second day in a row.
The score was knotted 1-1 through seven-and-a-half innings before Duluth scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Port Wing scored three runs in the top of the ninth to tie the score.
Duluth's Donny Miller (Victoria, Tex.) led off the ninth with a single and was replaced by Windschill (Maple Grove, Minn.). Nick Moran then singled, sending Windschill to second base. Pavlich, a product of Duluth Denfeld High School, put down a bunt, and the throw went wide of first base allowing Windschill to score.
Hibbing Community College's Jesse Olson of Hermantown earned the win in relief of former Wisconsin-Superior pitcher Anthony Bush, a Proctor High School alumnus. Olson (1-1, 0.57 ERA) struck out four and allowed three unearned runs on four hits and three walks in three-and-one-third innings. Bush, who retired the first 10 batters of the game, allowed one unearned run on six hits and one walk in five-and-two-thirds innings. He had six strikeouts.
Jared Gustafson was the losing pitcher in relief of starter Derek Jardine. Jardine worked eight innings and allowed four runs (three unearned) on seven hits and two walks with 11 strikeouts. Gustafson faced three batters in the ninth without recording an out. He allowed one unearned run on two hits.
Duluth struck first with a run in the fourth on an RBI double by Denfeld alumnus Mike Lewis. Port Wing answered with a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Keith Bailey.
Duluth's Kevin Hendrickx of Brookings, S. Dak., delivered an RBI single in the eighth, followed by a two-run single by Bob Baxton, a former St. Cloud State player, also from Denfeld.
In the top of the ninth, Jardine walked with the bases loaded for an RBI, Andrew Urbaniak had an RBI ground out, and John Tribys hit an RBI single.
Moran and Tim Nylund, both former Hibbing Community College players from Denfeld and Proctor respectively, had two hits apiece for Duluth.
Gustafson was 3-for-5 and Urbaniak was 2-for-5 for Port Wing.
Duluth is now 2-0 in league play and 4-3 overall. Port Wing dropped to 0-3 in league play.

ASHLAND -- Frank Pufall drove in Casey Olson from second base on an RBI single with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Ashland Merchants defeated the Duluth Padres 3-2 in an Upper 13 League amateur baseball game at James Pufall Field in Ashland.
Winning pitcher Bobby Tyndall threw a four-hit complete game. He had eight strikeouts, and allowed six walks and a hit batsman.
Hibbing Community College's Jesse Olson of Hermantown picked up the loss in relief of starter Anthony Bush. Olson (1-3, 2.49 ERA) allowed one run on three hits and an intentional walk in one-and-one-third innings. Bush, a former Wisconsin-Superior pitcher and Proctor alumnus, threw the first seven innings and allowed two unearned runs on nine hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
Duluth took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Donny Miller (Victoria, Tex.) and a sacrifice fly by Nathan Windschill (Maple Grove, Minn).
Ashland took advantage of lead-off errors with single runs in the third and sixth innings.
Casey Olson led off the ninth with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nick Anderson. After an intentional walk to Taylor Stibbe, Pufall connected for his first hit in five at bats.
Scott LaPlavy and Jeff Eckstrom had three hits apiece for Ashland, and Stibbe and Joe Seeger had two hits each for the Merchants.
Ashland improved to 1-2, and Duluth dropped to 2-2 in league play and 4-8 overall. The Padres will compete in the Hibbing Hull-Rust Tournament next weekend.
Padres Take 2nd at Hibbing Tournament

HIBBING -- The Padres lost the championship game of the Hibbing Hull Rust Invitational Tournament 9-2 to the Duluth Xpress on Sunday. The Padres advanced to the championship game by winning both games in pool play, one on Saturday and one on Friday. It was the club's best finish in four appearances in the tournament.
DULUTH XPRESS 9, PADRES 2 (7 Innings)
The Duluth Xpress won the championship game of the Hibbing Hull Rust Invitational Tournament 9-2 over the Duluth Padres on Sunday at Al Nyberg Field.
Winning pitcher Zack Farmer worked two innings in relief of starter Brian Houdek. Farmer allowed one hit and had two strikeouts. Houdek allowed two runs on one hit, seven walks, and two hit batsmen with three strikeouts in three innings pitched.
Dan Anderson and Jon Kusch had two hits each for the Xpress, and Kyle Jensen and Jake Casareto contributed one hit and two RBIs apiece. Jensen and Rejean Carlson both had three runs scored.
Losing pitcher Alex Oachs (0-1, 9.00 ERA) allowed four earned runs on six hits, three walks, and a hit batsman in four innings; Oachs had two strikeouts. Jesse Olson threw three shutout innings in relief of Oachs.
Tim Nylund was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Chris Musolf was 1-for-2 with a run scored for the Padres (6-9). The Padres committed six errors.
The Xpress improved to 14-2.
PADRES 5, SPOONER LOGGERS 0 (7 Innings)
On Saturday, Anthony Bush (3-0, 0.97 ERA) threw a four-hit shutout as the Padres defeated Spooner 5-0 at Nyberg Field. Bush had eight strikeouts and no walks in seven innings.
Nathan Windschill had two hits and two RBIs and Nick Moran had two hits and an RBI for Duluth. Bush was 1-for-3 with a double.
Brandon Shutt had two hits for Spooner.
PADRES 2, HIBBING 1 (7 Innings)
On Friday, winning pitcher Jake Lewis (1-0, 1.35 ERA) scattered 10 hits as the Padres defeated the Hibbing Miners 2-1. Lewis had five strikeouts and one walk in six and two-thirds innings pitched. Cody Dolsen got the save by recording the final out. Hibbing left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Duluth's Nick Moran and Kevin Hendrickx both scored on passed balls in the top of the sixth inning. Tim Nylund had two hits for Duluth.
Mike Belich hit a home run and Eli Tintor had three hits for Hibbing.
Padres Win Two League Games Vs Iron Rangers

DULUTH -- The Duluth Padres won two Upper 13 League games against the Iron Rangers (Ironwood/Hurley) at Bulldog Park. The Padres won the first game 4-3 and took the second game 3-1. Both games were seven innings.
Game 1: Duluth Padres 4, Iron Rangers 3
Kevin Hendrickx hit a sacrifice fly that scored Tim Nylund with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Padres won the first game.
With the score knotted 1-1, Duluth plated two runs on an error and a passed ball to take a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth. The Rangers tied the score 3-3 with two runs in the top of the seventh on two hits and an error.
Nylund hit a double with one out in the seventh and advanced to third on a single by Chris Musolf before scoring on Hendrickx's fly.
Winning pitcher Anthony Bush (4-0, 1.02 ERA) allowed one earned run on eight hits and one walk in a complete game effort. He had six strikeouts. Bush's streak of consecutive innings pitched without allowing an earned run was extended to 22.2 innings over four games before ending in the seventh inning.
Daulton Levra picked up the loss in relief of starter Josh Thiede. Levra allowed one earned run on two hits and a walk in one and two-thirds innings with two strikeouts. Thiede allowed one run on one hit, five walks, and a hit batsman in six innings. He had five strikeouts. Thiede and Levra combined on a three-hitter.
Ethan Buccanero and Jerry Levra had two hits each for the Rangers.
Game 2: Duluth Padres 3, Iron Rangers 1
Jesse Olson (2-3, 1.71 ERA) tossed a complete game four-hitter with one unearned run as the Padres took the second game to sweep the Rangers. Olson had eight strikeouts and three walks.
Matt Chruscielski hit a two-RBI triple in the top of the first inning and Tim Nylund hit an RBI single in the sixth to account for Duluth's runs.
Tim Mattson scored on an RBI single by Dylan Laurin in the bottom of the first inning for the Rangers' run.
Kevin Hendrickx had two hits for the Padres and Dylan Laurin had two hits for the Rangers.
Losing pitcher Tyler Gottschalk allowed two runs on two hits and five walks in three innings. He had five strikeouts.
Duluth (4-2 league, 8-9 overall) is at Port Wing on July 4 for an Upper 13 League game. The Iron Rangers (1-8 in league) are back in league action on July 8 when they host the Ashland Merchants.

PORT WING -- The Duluth Padres defeated the Port Wing Boilers 9-3 in an Upper 13 League amateur baseball game at Anderson-Samuelson Field in Port Wing on Wed.
Jesse Olson (3-3, 1.99 ERA) threw a nine-inning complete game for the win on two days' rest following a seven-inning complete game win on Sunday. He allowed three runs on 10 hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
Tim Nylund, Kevin Hendrickx, Bob Baxton, and Nathan Windschill had two hits apiece for Duluth, and Hendrickx had two RBIs.
Derek Jardine and Chad Tuura had two hits each for Port Wing.
Jardine was the losing pitcher. He allowed five runs on six hits and four walks with six strikeouts in four innings pitched. Jardine and reliever Andrew Urbaniak combined for 14 strikeouts.
Duluth (5-2 league, 9-9 overall) is next in action on Sunday against the Twin Ports North Stars atDuluth East High School for a league doubleheader starting at noon. Port Wing (1-8 league) travels to Ashland on Sunday to face the Merchants in a league game at 1:30 p.m.

MARENISCO, MICH. -- The Duluth Padres defeated Marenisco 6-4 in an Upper 13 League amateur baseball game on Sunday at Marenisco, despite getting just two hits.
Winning pitcher Jesse Olson (4-3, 2.18 ERA) allowed three earned runs on nine hits and one walk with nine strikeouts in his fourth complete game of the season.
Marenisco went ahead 3-0 in the fourth inning on a three-run home run by Zach Mahler.
Duluth scored a run in the sixth on an error, but Marenisco answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth on three hits and an error to make the score 4-1.
Anthony Bush singled with one out in the seventh inning to break up Marenisco starter Aaron Holtz's bid for a no-hitter. Duluth scored three runs in the seventh on one hit, four walks, a sacrifice fly, and a hit batsman to tie the score 4-4.
Duluth broke the tie with two runs in the top of the ninth on a walk, an unsuccessful fielder's choice on a sacrifice bunt, and an error.
Robert Brunelle picked up the loss in relief of Holtz. Brunelle allowed two unearned runs on one hit, three walks, and a hit batsman in two and two-thirds innings. Holtz allowed three earned runs on one hit and five walks in six and one-third innings. He had five strikeouts.
Nathan Windschill bunted for a hit to lead off the eighth for Duluth's second hit. Windschill was 1-for-3 with a run scored and Bush was 1-for-4 with a run scored.
Erik Mahler was 4-for-4 with a run scored and Zach Mahler was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Marenisco (3-6 league).
Tim Nylund, Kevin Hendrickx, and Matt Chruscielski had RBIs for Duluth (6-4 league, 10-12 overall).
Padres Win Two at Ashland

ASHLAND -- The Duluth Padres won two Upper 13 League amateur baseball games over the Ashland C&S Design Protractors at Lumberjack Field on the Northland College campus on Sunday. Both games were seven innings. Duluth's Anthony Bush and Jesse Olson both broke the Padres club record for wins in a season.
Game 1
Bush (5-1, 1.53 ERA) tossed a four-hitter for his third complete game and second shutout this season. He had four strikeouts and did not walk a batter.
Corey Pavlich scored on a passed ball in the fifth for Duluth's first run, and Mike Lewis scored on Chris Musolf's sacrifice fly for an insurance run in the seventh.
Losing pitcher Mark Arbuckle allowed one earned run on three hits, a walk, and a hit batsman. He had three strikeouts in a complete game effort.
Matt Hulmer was 2-for-3 for Ashland.
Game 2
Olson (5-3, 2.08 ERA) allowed one earned run on seven hits and three walks in his fifth complete game of the season. He had three strikeouts.
Bob Baxton was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Don Miller was 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Musolf was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Duluth.
Losing pitcher Brett Hulmer allowed three earned runs on six hits, two walks, and two hit batsmen. He had two strikeouts in a complete game effort.
Matt Hulmer was 2-for-3 for Ashland and went 4-for-6 in both games.
The Padres are now 8-4 in league play and 12-12 overall. Ashland is now 7-6 in league play.
Padres Drop Two to Lakers

DULUTH -- The Superior Lakers squeaked out two wins over the Duluth Padres, 1-0 and 5-4, in an Upper 13 League doubleheader at Bulldog Park on Sunday. Both games were seven innings.
Game 1 -- Superior 1, Duluth 0
Dan Nelson out-dueled Anthony Bush as Superior scored their lone run in the top of the first inning when Orry Engebretsen scored on an RBI single by Evan Walker. Nelson tossed a two-hit shutout with two walks and seven strikeouts. Bush (5-2, 1.51 ERA) threw his fourth complete game of the season in his club-leading 11th start. He allowed one run on seven hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
Walker and Michael Stocke had two hits each for Superior. Nick Moran had both of Duluth's hits.
Game 2 -- Superior 5, Duluth 4
Winning pitcher Tyler Carlson allowed one earned run on six hits and two walks in a complete game effort. He had no strikeouts.
Jesse Olson (5-4, 2.30 ERA) picked up the loss for Duluth. He threw his sixth complete game in eight starts this season. Olson allowed three earned runs on seven hits and six walks with four strikeouts. He tied Bush's 2009 club record with his 14th pitching appearance this season.
Walker was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Kellen McCoshen was 2-for-3 for Superior.
Tim Nylund was 2-for-3 and Mike Lewis was 2-for-4 for Duluth.
Duluth finishes its Upper 13 League schedule with an 8-6 record and is 12-14 overall. Superior is 10-1 in league play.
The clubs will now await the results of the Wisconsin Baseball Association's playoff-seeding meeting, to be held on Tues. evening at Chippewa Falls. The 64th Annual WBA Playoffs will begin with semi-finals action Aug. 10-12 at four sites, and end with the state tournament Aug. 17-19 at Osseo, Wis.
WBA Playoffs Preview

The Duluth Padres finished third in the Upper 13 League with an 8-6 record and have advanced to the 64th annual Wisconsin Baseball Association (WBA) Playoffs. The eight league wins is the most in the club's six-year history.
The Padres were given a #4 seed by the WBA and will face the #1 seed in their bracket, the Whittlesey Reds. The Reds were 10-1 in the Dairyland League, and tied for first place with the Everest Merchants. Duluth and Whittlesey will lock horns at 3 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 11, at Rib Lake, Wis. The winner will play at Rib Lake on Sun., Aug. 12, at 3 p.m. against the winner of the Sparta Miller/Chippewa Falls Lumberjacks game.
This is the second trip to the WBA Playoffs for the club, but the first as the Duluth Padres. In 2008, the club's second year of existence, the then-Proctor Padres finished 7-5 in the Upper 13 circuit and tied for third place. They lost their only playoffs game, 8-5 at Haugen, to the Brill Millers of the Independent League.
The club was established in 2007. The Padres moved to Duluth from Proctor in 2010, but kept the Proctor Padres name that season. The 2012 season is the second as the Duluth Padres.
The Padres' leading hitters are C/OF Tim Nylund (.267 AVG, 15 R, 20 H, 9 RBI), OF/3B Bob Baxton (.261 AVG, 10 R, 12 H, 10 RBI), and 1B/3B Matt Chruscielski (.260 AVG, 14 R, 13 H, 12 RBI). Their leading pitchers are Anthony Bush (5-2, 1.51 ERA) and Jesse Olson (5-4, 2.30 ERA).
The other Upper 13 League teams in the playoffs are the Superior Lakers, Twin Ports North Stars, and Ashland C&S Design Protractors.
The WBA consists of 62 teams in six leagues. The top 32 teams qualify for the playoffs. The semifinals of the playoffs will be held Aug. 10-12 at four sites (Rib Lake, Hayward, Haugen, and Osceola). The finals will be Aug. 17-19 at Osseo.

Whittlesey 12, Padres 8

RIB LAKE, Wis. -- The Whittlesey Reds defeated the Duluth Padres, 12-8, in the first round of the 64th annual Wisconsin Baseball Association Playoffs here on Sat. The teams combined for 31 hits.
Whittlesey, down 4-1 in the third inning, scored three runs to tie the score in the third and plated five runs in the fourth to take the lead for good.
Winning pitcher Mike Loertscher worked 5.2 innings in relief of starter Dan Cypher. Loertscher allowed three runs on five hits and one walk with seven strkeouts. He also was 2-for-4 with a home run to contribute to Whittlesey's 17-hit attack.
Matt Krueger was 4-for-5 and Jeff Kraschnewski was 3-for-5 to lead Whittlesey. Tom Mildbrand and Derek Nichols had two hits each for the Reds.
Joe Seeger, drafted from the Ashland Merchants, was 4-for-5 with a double and three runs to lead Duluth. Nick Moran was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Matt Chruscielski had three hits and scored twice. Bob Baxton and Mike Lewis had two hits apiece for Duluth. Chruscielski and Lewis each had two RBIs. The Padres pounded out 15 hits.
Duluth, down 12-5, rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning.
Losing pitcher Anthony Bush (5-3, 2.36 ERA in 68.2 IP) allowed seven runs on nine hits in three innings. He had one strikeout and zero walks. Jesse Olson pitched five innings of solid relief, allowing three earned runs on eight hits and two walks with one strikeout. Olson finished the season with a 2.51 ERA in a team-leading 71.2 innings pitched, and he set a new club record with his 15th pitching appearance.
Duluth finished the season with 12 wins and 15 losses.

Bush, Miller Play in 35+ State Tournament

STODDARD, Wis. -- Anthony Bush and Don Miller participated in the WBA 35+ State Tournament for the Blooming Valley Blue Devils here on Friday and Saturday. Blooming Valley lost to Mellen, 12-2, in five innings on Friday night and lost to Menomonie, 7-6, on Saturday afternoon. It was the second year they played for Blooming Valley in the 35+ tournament.
Bush was the losing pitcher in Friday's game, which was marred by errors. Miller was the catcher. Saturday's game saw Bush at second base and Miller at third base. Both players got a hit in each game.
Stoddard is located 11 miles south of La Crosse, Wis. Stoddard and La Crescent, Minn., were the host sites for the weekend tournament.
