IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD IS NOT WEARING REGULAR SHOES FROM OUTSIDE ONTO THE WRESTLING MATS-THEY MUST CHANGE WHEN THEY ARRIVE TO THE GYM!!

IF WE SEE ANYONE COMING INTO THE GYM WITH WRESTLINGS SHOES ALREADY ON AND GOING ONTO THE MAT THEY WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PRACTICE.

  If you notice anything irregular on the skin, such as ringworm or any other irregular on the skin-you must notify us immediately, this is a very serious, but treatable common diseases among wrestlers. We cannot contaminate the entire team.

Good hygiene is very important. When your child goes home each night, they MUST shower with antibacterial soap!

* Tips for Parents *

• Practice: Wear comfortable clothing. It is usually hot in the gymnasiums. They are permitted to wear shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants (these items must have NO pockets, NO strings, NO snaps, NO zippers). Head Gear optional for practice. If they show up with any of the aforementioned restrictions, they will not be permitted to practice until corrected.

• Matches: Each child will be given a singlet, a pair of shorts & a t-shirt that must be worn at MATCHES ONLY.

• Shoes: Purchase wrestling shoes that have not been worn outside.  WRESTLING SHOES CANNOT BE WORN COMING TO OR LEAVING PRACTICE OR MATCHES. THEY ARE TO BE BROUGHT AND CHANGED INTO WHEN THEY ARRIVE AND TAKEN OFF IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO LEAVING. We do not want the mats destroyed or for anyone to bring bacteria onto the mat.

• Fingernails must be trimmed regularly. Having long fingernails is not proper hygiene for wrestlers for a number of reasons.

• After each practice and matches please have you child shower with anti-bacterial soap and wash their clothes immediately upon arriving home. We want to eliminate the spread of common or serious skin diseases. Even if your child is tired, please make them shower immediately upon returning home.

• Please supervise your child at ALL times when in attendance.

• While wrestling is primarily an individual sport, stress a team attitude to your child. Encourage him to focus on the team’s performance as a whole.

• Mark all of your child’s gear, especially head gear with his name.

• Cheering for your child is encouraged, however, do not become over-zealous. Remember, proper rules of good sportsmanship. Always be positive and show your child how to develop a proper attitude.
