3rd Place in Top Gun Tournament

The rain held off just enough for the whole weekend for us to get in 5 games and get 3rd place.  In game 1, Grace rolled in the circle with going 6 innings, only 1 earned run and 1 walk plus struck out 7.  Kailee led us with 3 hits including 2 doubles along with Kassie having 2 of her own hits and Arissa adding a 2 run double.  In game 2, we allowed the momentum of an offensive inning end in a double play that sparked them to score all 4 runs at the bottom of the inning.  Kailee pitched well and struck out 11 in 4 and 2/3 innings but all 3 of our doubles (Layna, Ali & Kassie) with no outs or 1 out were all stranded.  Layna had 2 hits but we never could put back to back hits together to muster any runs.  In game 3, we were led by Kailee (double and triple) and Layna's 3 hits each along and Arissa picking up the win in the circle by giving up only 3 runs in 6 innings and striking out 3.  Then Sunday came and the weather held off just enough to allow us to get in 2 games.  In game 4 of the tournament, Ali led us with 2 hits and we had 6 RBI's by 6 different players (Layna, Emma, Kailee, Ali, Kendell and Addi) plus had doubles by Ali, Kailee and Mia.  Kailee went 4 innings with 7 strikeouts and no earned runs.  In the last game of the day we went back and forth in 8 innings to lose with 2 outs with a walk hit.  They scored 2 in the bottom of the 1st but we put up 3 in the next 2 innings led by Mia's triple and Kailee's 2 run sac fly that was deep enough to score Layna all the way from 2nd.  They took the led in the bottom of the 4th but in the top of the 6th, Kassie hit a 2 run single to score Emma who singled and Kailee who doubled.  Grace was awesome in the cirlce going 7 and 2/3 will only allowing 3 earned runs and walking only 1 batter.  It was a tough loss but it was a great game and they went on to win the championship game in the rain.

Kailee led us hitting .615 with 5 doubles, a triple and 6 RBI's.  Kassie hit .500 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI's with 18 strikeouts in almost 9 innings.  Ali and Layna both hit .462.  Ali had 2 doubles and 3 RBI's.  Layna had 2 doubles and 4 runs scored.  Cheyenne hit .375 with 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.  Emma hit .273 with 2 runs scored and 3 walks.  Kendell hit .250 with 3 runs scored and 3 walks.  Arissa had a double and 2 runs scored plus had a win in a circle.  Mia had a double, triple and 2 RBI's.  Ashley had 2 RBI's and a couple stolen bases.  Addi had an RBI and a walk.  Grace pitched well all weekend with almost 14 innings and 12 strikeouts but only 2 walks.

Unfortunately this may be the end of the fall season for us just when we were getting things going and having all 12 girls at the tournament.  I'm excited for the spring/summer season as we have a great few additions to our team from last year.  We will be off for a month and start up again after Thanksgiving on Saturdays in the cages.

5th Place in Octoberfest

This past weekend has always been a challenge for us with homecomings and the weather but this year we had nice weather.  We started game one with scoring 2 in the first behind Kailee and Seneca's back to back doubles and Ashley's triple.  Then we added 3 in the 2nd behind a 2 run HR by Layna.  We held on to win by 1.  In game 2, we fell behind early but came back the last 2 innings to lose by one. Emma led us with 3 hits and Layna and Seneca each had hits.  In game 3, we were up 3 with RBI's by Emma and Aspyn but they came back to tie it up.  Then in the 4th we scored 7 to finish off the game with RBI's by Seneca, Ashley, Kendell, Arissa, Danica and Aspyn.  On Sunday, we had a great game that went back and forth all game long to lose by 1 in the 2nd extra inning.  Ashley had 2 RBI's to led us at the plate with Grace going all 8 innings in the circle.  We are back at it again this weekend in Chehalis but the weather looks iffy on Saturday and Sunday not looking good at all.

Layna led us hitting .700 with a double, triple and a HR along with 8 runs scored.  Ali who was there just for Sunday had a hit and a walk. Emma hit .556 with RBI and a run scored.  Kailee hit .375 with a double and 4 runs scored plus threw 3 innings on Saturday to pick up our first win.  Arissa, Ashley, and Mia all hit .333.  Arissa had a triple and 2 runs scored.  Ashley had a triple and 4 RBI's.  Mia who was there just for Sunday had a hit and an RBI.  Kendell had 3 RBI's and scored 2 runs.  It was great to have Cheyenne again who was only there on Sunday.  Grace was only there for Sunday but pitched all 8 innings and walked 0 batters.  A big thanks to our pick up players with Brooklyn playing SS both days doing a great job and had a double plus scored 3 runs.  Also thanks to the 3 that helped us out on Saturday with Seneca who hit .667, Aspyn who hit .400 with 4 RBI's and 2 doubles, and Danica who pitched game 2 for us on Saturday and had an RBI.

3-0 and then not sure?

I was going to type this yesterday but still had some build up frustration, not that it has gone away much more, but better than it was.  It is dissapointing to have the people in charge be able to do what they want with having a say in the final outcome plus have some people rooting against you to fail for whatever their reasons are but it is what it is and we will move for the future.  In game 1, we had a great game with Ali and Ashley with an RBI each and Kailee throwing a no hitter (1 play away from a perfect game) with 9 strikeouts for a 2-0 lead going into the top of the 6.  We were struggling with their pitcher but Grace and Arissa led off with walks, Layna had an infield error to score a run which chased their pitcher and once we got to the bullpen, the floodgates opened.  Emma and Kailee walked, Ali hit a 3 run double, Ashley single to add her 2nd RBI of the game, Mia hit a hard groundball to score a run, Kendell walked, Kassie hit a 2 run triple and Grace (who started the inning) hit a hard ground ball to score our 10th run of the inning.  Kailee slammed the door to run rule them.  In game 2, we scored 4 right away to take a lead behind back to back to back doubles by Kassie, Addi and Grace and a single by Arissa.  They got 4 but we came back with 4 of our own to take the lead for good behind singles by Layna, Kailee, Mia and Kendell plus a sac bunt by Emma and Ashley reaching on an error.  Later on Layna had a triple along with an RBI single by Kendell and Kassie ended our scoring with a 2 run double.  Arissa got the win by only giving up 2 earned runs.  In game 3, we scored 9 in the first 2 innings which was enough for Grace to get the win with no earned runs in 5 innings.  Ali led with 3 hits (including a triple which should have been an inside the park HR), Ashley had 2 hits (including a double) and Kendell added 2 hits and 2 RBI's.  Layna had a triple with Emma and Kassie both had 2 RBI's.

On Sunday, we had a good game going with Kailee hitting a triple and Ali driving her in to give us a 1-0 lead.  They scored 2 in the bottom of the 1st and added one in the 2nd.  We came back to score 2 in the 3rd with Arissa hitting a double, Layna hitting an RBI double, Emma sac bunt, Kailee with an RBI single.  Then in the 4th we get called out for leaving early but somehow on the dead ball we got a phantom strikeout.  Due to other things going on and addressing a possible forfeit, the other team came off the field with our girls naturally going on and after the first pitch was thrown by us, we were stuck with the 2 out inning.  Then in the top of the next inning after a great backdoor play at 3rd by Layna and Kassie, we were confused on who was to bat since we never finished the previous inning.  This led to some personal comments and because our parents not liking the comments made and the way this was all handled, the umpires decided they were done and called the 3-3 game a forfeit.  I'm still baffled by it all since the head coach never got tossed but the game was done due to a missed call from the previous inning that led to questions about our batting order.  We all learn lessons, whether we think it is right or not, and we be prepared the best we can if this ever arises again.

Ali led us hitting .667 with 2 doubles, a triple and 5 RBI's plus picked off a runner on Saturday.  Arissa hit .600 with a double and 2 runs scored.  Kendell hit .500 with 4 RBI's and 2 stolen bases.  Kailee and Layna both hit .444.  Kailee had 2 triples, 6 runs scored and threw a no-hitter with 9 strikeouts on Saturday.  Layna had a double, triple and scored 5 runs.  Ashley and Kassie both hit .400.  Ashley had a double, 5 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.  Kassie had 2 doubles, a triple and 7 RBI's.  Emma hit .375 with 2 RBI's and a sac.  Grace hit .333 with a double, 3 runs scored and pitched 9 innings with only 1 walk.  Addi had a double, an RBI and a run scored.  Mia had 4 runs scored, RBI and 3 walks.  A big thanks to Brooklyn to pick up with us for Saturday with girls leaving early for homecoming.  She had 3 runs scored, a walk and 2 stolen bases.

We will get back after it this week with a good practice and then in Everett in 2 weekends.  Going to be a fun year with this group as they are getting better each and every tournament so far.

5th Place at Acer Classic

Well the 2024-25 season has officially started and what a great weekend of ball and weather.  On Saturday, we started off well in the circle and defense but slow at the plate.  Kailee threw all 4 innings and had 8 strikeouts and our defense was error free.  Finally in the bottom of the 4th down 2-0, all with 2 outs, Kailee doubled followed by walks by Ali and Kendell and with 2 strikes Kassie put the ball in play to have a bad throw to score both Kailee and Alie to end the game in a tie due to the time.  In game 2, Arissa cruised in the circle with 4 innings of no earned runs and our defense was able to turn 2 double plays by Ella and Kassie.  Ali led us with 2 hits and Kassie had a 2 run double.  In the last game of the day, we scored early taking a 5-1 lead thanks to 3 hits by Layna (including a double), 2 hits (including a 3 run HR) by Kailee and a HR by Ali.  They were able to come back in the last 2 innings and take the lead to beat us by 2.  On Sunday, we scored in the first but gave up 2 for them to take the lead until the top of the 3rd where Ali, Ashley and Emma all had 2 out RBI's.  Then in the next inning Emma added a couple RBI's with 2 outs.  In the bottom of the inning, they were able to put up 2 to cut it to a 3 run lead but the final ground out was fielded by Ali to step on her base to end the game.  Grace came in relief to give us 2 1/3 solid innings by only giving up 1 earned run to secure her first win as a Bolt.  In game 2, we scored 1 in the first, the Boltz way, with a lead off double by Layna, a sac bunt by Emma and an hard RBI groundout by Kailee to score our 1st and only run of the game.  We gave up 3 runs but played well with Kassie having a double and turning another double play.  Layna led us with 2 hits and we lost to the team that won it all on a special weekend for their program with a Celebration of Life of a longtime coach for the Acer program plus we gave them their closet game of the day after they run ruled the next team and won the championship game by 5 runs.

Layna led us hitting .583 with 2 doubles, a HR, scored 7 runs plus great to have her back on the field.  Kassie hit .400 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI's, scored 2 runs and played well at SS for playing that postion for the first time in a long time.  Ali hit .333 with 2 doubles, a HR, 4 RBI's and fit in so well with us if she has been part of this team for years especially with bringing name tags for all, LOL. Emma hit .286 with 3 RBI's, 5 walks, 2 sac's and threw out a girl on Saturday at 3rd.  Kailee hit .273 with a double, a HR, 5 RBI's and pitched well with 13 strikeouts even though she was fighting through some soreness on Sunday. Mia got hot on Sunday with a few hits and scored 2 runs but started to run much better with her bad ankle as she beat out a infield groundball.  Addi was only able to play on Saturday with some sickness on Sunday, but she had 2 RBI's and a stolen base plus played well at 2nd.  Ashely missed our first 2 games due to the funeral but had a walk, stolen base and made a few great running catches in RF.  Kendell had a RBI and 2 walks plus played very well in LF all weekend.  Ella who only played on Saturday, scored a run and had a couple strikeouts in the circle but glad we were able to get her out this fall even though it means I can't coach those days :(. Grace who only played on Sunday due to high school volleyball, threw well for us in the circle with only 1 walk in 5 1/3 innings and got a win.  Arissa had a walk, threw well in the circle on Saturday to get a win and played well at 1B all weekend.

It was great to get started with some ball and good weather.  This team was able to stay together from last year as well as welcoming 3 new players that acted like they have always been with us for a long time.  Going to be a fun year.  I want to thank Jack, Kyle and Lee for taking the reigns on Saturday since I wasn't able to coach due to WIAA off-season rules but the team never skipped a beat.  Can't wait to get after it again next weekend in Chehalis.

Top 4 Finish @ Legacy Bring It On Western Worlds

We had a game on Thursday night and won 4-0 behind Kailee's 1 hit shutout and 6 strikeouts.  Cheyenne, Emma, Ali, Ashley and Kailee all had a hit with Ali collecting an RBI 2B. On Friday we played 3 games and won them all behind Ella's 2 wins and Riley's no hitter.  In game 1 we were led by Cheyenne's 3 hits (2 doubles) and Emma's 2 plus doubles by Ali and Riley (2 RBI's).  In game 2, Ali (a double & 3 RBI's) and Riley each had 2 hits plus Ashley with a double and 2 RBI's by Kailee.  In the last game of the day, Emma (double), Kailee (2 doubles), Ali, and Ashley each had 2 hits plus Riley had a HR that still hasn't landed.  On Friday, we drew a tough game for going 4-0 in league play (somehow the top teams all go into the top of the bracket) and lost 1-0 on a great pitching duel.  Both pitchers gave up 3 runs and only 1 walk with their pitcher striking out 3 and Kailee had 7 strikeouts.  The difference was they put together 2 hits in a row which gave them their only run.  Riley, Kyndal and Kailee collected our only hits but it was a great game with that team losing in the semifinals by 2 to the team that won it all.  Instead of being done our girls brought it the next 4 games with a run rule game Friday night with Ella and Arissa pitching a shutout and Cheyenne (double), Mia (double) and Kendell (2 doubles & 3 RBI's) all collecting 2 hits each.  On Saturday, we won game one behind Ella's 5 innings of 3 runs and only 1 walk.  Ashley and Kyndal each had 2 hits with 3 RBI's by Kailee including a HR.  In game 2, we played the same team as game 1 on Thursday night and were led by Ashley and Arissa's 2 RBI's each plus doulbes by Ali and Riley.  Riley threw her last game (as of now...) with only 2 earned runs and 4 strikeouts plus her high school catcher (Ali) and one of our new players for next year, was able to catch her that game.  In the last game, we 10 runned the team that was the number team in our pool and we were led by Kailee's no hit, shutout along with 5 strikeouts.  We were a play away from a perfect game.  Cheyenne, Emma, Ali (HR & 3 RBI's) &  Ashley (2 doubles) each had 2 hits along with Kailee's HR and 2 RBI's. It was a great way to end our season with 8 wins in 4 days.

Ashley led us hitting .583 with 3 doubles, 4 runs scored and 6 walks.  Ali (who now is offical on our team so was great for her to play with us this past weekend) hit .500 with 4 doubles, 2 HR's and 9 RBI's.  Riley hit .389 with 2 doubles, a HR and 8 RBI;s plus having 15 strikeouts in the circle along with a no hitter.  Emma hit .363 with a double, 5 runs scored and 2 sac's.  Kailee hit .350 with 2 doubles, 2 HR's and 11 RBI's plus 18 strikeouts in the circle along with a no hit shutout game.  Cheyenne hit .320 with 2 doubles, 11 runs scored and 4 stolen bases.  Kyndal hit .313 with a couple RBI's, 4 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.  Kendell hit .300 with a double, 5 RBI's and 3 stolen bases.  Arissa had 3 RBI's, a couple runs scored and 2 stolen bases.  Mia had a double, 6 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.  Ella scored 3 runs along with 3 stolen bases and had 25 strikeouts in the circle.  We missed Layna this past week/weekend but hoping she can recover quickly and will be back this fall.

I'm very excited for next year but really going to miss our seniors.  It was a privilege to coach Kyndal and Riley (hoping she will make it back for a few tournaments next year since she is young enough) this year since we have played against both of them for many years.  It has been great to have everyone come back and add a few new girls to our team for next year.  I hope you all have a great rest of your summer and enjoy the time with your families.  Hopefully we can keep the momentum from the last 2 tournaments up for the fall.  For the last time this summer......

Top 16 at Triple Crown World Series in San Diego

Well we started 0-2 in pool play and boy did we respond winning the next 4 out of 5 to make it to the last day and be the only team from WA in the 18u division still playing on Saturday.  In game 1 at the dreaded 8:00 in the morning, we faced a very good team but never got anything going and Kailee led us with 2 hits.  Game 2 we took a 4-1 led after 1 thanks to back to back walks by Cheyenne and Emma, then Kailee singled followed by Ashley's bases clearing double, who then scored on Mia's great bunt.  Unfortunately that was all we could do and we let them come back to win the game by 1.  Day 2 brought us a little later game times and we found our bats.  In game 3, Kailee and Riley had 2 RBI's each and Ashley led us with 3 hits.  Ella pitched well in the circle and their late surge made it a 1 run game.  With the bases loaded, the visiting team and a 1 run lead, Riley entered the game to strikeout the last batter to end the game.  It was a very good and intense game but that got us going.  In game 4 (2 of the day), we cruised to a run rule game with Riley and Ella throwing and Cheyenne, Kailee and Ashley all had 2 hits.  Cheyenne and Emma had 2 RBI's.  On Thursday, we only had 1 game regardless and Kailee had 8 strikeouts in the circle and we won by 4 with Mia having 2 hits and we played an error free game.  On Friday, we ran into a good team that was a 2 run ball game until the 3rd inning then our defense let us down a bit and then took it to us.  We never got the bats going after we scored 2 in the first which was created by a walk by Emma, a Kailee single, hard hit ball by Ashley to score a run and 1st and 3rd steal home by Kailee to give us an early 2-0 lead.  We then had to come back to win another game to make it to the final day.  Kailee pitched great with a 4 hit shutout and only walked 1 in a full complete 7 inning game.  We only had 1 inning of scoring but in the bottom of the 4th Emma, Kailee, Riley, Ashley, Mia all had singles to give us 3 runs and Arissa's bases loaded walk gave us our 4th run of the game.  That was all we needed with the great pitching and our good defense.  On Saturday we gave up 4 in the first after a 2 out tough call that wasn't called strike 3 so that was the difference.  We scored a run later on after Riley's double and Kyndal's hard hit up the middle.  Unfortunatley the 1-1 ball game was not continued due to the 4 after the call that didn't go our way.  Regardless I'm proud of the girls to start 0-2 then come back to finish in the top 16 and lose to the team that won the bracket.  It was a great week of ball but also coming together as a team and families.

Kailee led us hitting .381 with a double, 5 runs scored and 4 RBI's plus had 2 very good wins in the circle to keep us alive in the tournament.  Ashley hit .363 with 4 doubles, 4 runs scored and 4 RBI's.  Riley hit .300 with a double, a triple and 4 RBI's.  Emma hit .294 with a double and couple RBI's plus 8 walks.  Kyndal hit .286 with a double, 4 RBI;s and 3 runs scored.  Cheyenne hit ,263 with 6 runs scored, 2 RBI's and 6 stolen bases.  Mia had a double, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI's.  Arissa had a couple RBI's and 3 walks.  Kendell scored 3 runs and had 5 walks.  Addi scored a couple runs and had a couple free passes.  Ella had couple RBI's and a couple stolen bases plus had 9 strikeouts in the circle. Due to injury Layna wasn't able to join us but happy to have her back next weekend in Medford.

Well it took us awhile with high school sports and injuries (this team has only played together with all 12 girls 1 day this entire year) but we were able to come together and play as a team and show what we are capable of.  Unfortunately next weekend will be it and we will say goodbye to 2 great graduates but with us adding 3 girls and our current roster coming back it will be great to see what an older and more experienced team can do next year.  Also was great for us families to finally have some down time to hang out and do somethings together as well.  Excited to see what we do this next weekend in Medford.

3rd Place in Metros

We took care of game 1 in a 10 run rule game with Ella and Kendell getting 2 hits each along with 2 RBI's.  Riley hit a HR and Kailee cruised to a victory only giving up 1 run and no walks.  In game 2, we made a close game down 4-2 with 2 hits by Kailee and RBI's by Ashley and Emma but gave away some runs on defense later on to lose.  Riley had 11 strikeouts in the circle.  On Sunday, we had a very late draw in the middle of the heat and took care with a 12 run rule game led by Ashley and Kailee's 4 hits and 6 RBI's.  Kailee had 3 doubles and Mia had one.  Riley had a triple and Ella cruised in the circle with only 2 earned runs.  In game 2 it was a great game until the last inning when we spotted them a few runs on defense.  Cheyenne, Emma and Mia all had singles along with Kailee's HR.  Unfortunately the bats couldn't keep up with our defense.

Ashley led us hitting .545 with 6 RBI's and scored a couple runs.  Kailee hit .538 with 3 doubles, a HR and 7 RBI's plus had 6 strikeouts in 5 plus innings.  Mia hit .400 with a double, 3 runs scored and a couple RBI's.  Ella and Emma hit .333.  Ella had 3 runs scored and 2 SB's plus threw 9 plus innings in the circle.  Emma had 3 runs scored and couple RBI's plus threw out a couple runners.  Kendell hit .300 with a double and couple runs scored and RBI's.  Riley hit .273 with a triple, HR and 5 runs scored plus had 12 strikeouts in 8 innings.  Cheyenne hit .250 with 5 runs scored and 4 SB's.  Addi had a couple runs scored and a couple SB's.  Kyndal had a couple RBI's plus a couple SB's.  Layna scored 4 runs and had 5 SB's.

Excited to get to San Diego in another week.  We will keep getting better and excited to see how we finish the last 2 tournaments.

GO BOLTZ!

18 USA State Tournament

I think I just looked and we may still have another game this week.  LOL.  The tournament that never ended and we were able it to Sunday after getting in the loser's bracket very early.  In pool play we went 1-1 and in game 1 we beat the team that won it all with Kailee hitting 2 HR's including a walk off. Ella kept them off balance and never walked a girl to earn the win in the circle.  Riley also had 2 hits that game.  In game 2, we were down 1 until we had a couple plays that led to 3 more runs and we couldn't come back from it.  Riley had 2 hits including a double.  In game 3 of the night we got up early but couldn't hold the lead against a team that made the final 4.  Kyndal and Mia each had 2 hits and Kailee had another HR.  Bright and early Saturday morning brought us a 8 run rule game with Kendell having 2 hits and Cheyenne had 3 RBI's.  After a game break we never got our bats going to only have 2 hits by Cheyenne and Riley.  Then finally that night we showed up in a big way winning 19-1 by a 3 run HR by Ella and a doulbe and triple by Riley along with 5 RBI's.  Mia had 3 RBI's as well.  In game 4 of the day, we were able to win a close one with a lineup hiccup by the head coach that took at least 10 minutes to figure out.  LOL.  Kailee went 7 strong innings with only 2 runs giving up and 1 walk.  Cheyenne had 2 hits.  With our 3 win Saturday, came the early morning Sunday game and what a game it was.  We lost 1-0 but Ella threw 6 plus strong innings with no walks and our defense was on display.  Cheyenne robbed a HR (2nd one of the tournament) by taking out the fence.  Mia caught a line drive and doubled up a girl at first in the same inning.  Ashley had several great catches as well as our infield shutting down 3 would be bunters.  Unfortunately a tough call in the top of the 7th with 2 runners on and then a 2 out hit by them won the game.  It was a very good game between both teams and especially with us being game 8 of the tournament.  Very proud of the way we played.

Riley led us hitting .351 with 3 doubles, a triple and 8 runs scored along with 7 strikeouts in the circle.  Kailee hit .350 with a double and 3 HR's plus 9 RBI's and 10 strikeouts in the circle.  Cheyenne hit .347 with 7 runs scored, 5 RBI's, 3 SB's and 2 crashing into the fence catches.  Kendell and Kyndal both hit .333.  Kendell (KT) had 6 runs scored and couple RBI's.  Kyndal had 5 runs scored and 4 RBI's.  Mia hit .294 with 5 RBI's, 5 walks and a sac.  Arissa hit .273 with 3 runs scored and 3 walks. Emma hit .263 with 7 walks and threw out 3 runners.  Ashley had 3 runs scored and a couple RBI's plus 4 walks.  Ella had a HR and 3 RBI's plus 14 strikeouts in the circle.  Addi scored a couple runs along with an RBI and a couple walks.  Layna who was only able to run this weekend had 5 stolen bases and scored 7 runs.

We got lots of games in this weekend and getting close to explode as a team.  It was great to watch us battle all weekend and give a great effort.  Very fun group to coach.  Metros this weekend.

Valley Invite

Game 1 was a pitchers duel with Riley stirking out 11 and giving up only 3 hits.  A 2 strike, 2 out hit was the difference.  Cheyenne and Ella had our only hits against a very good pitcher.  In game 2 we cut it to 6 to 3 with 2 hits by Emma and 2 RBI's and a double by Riley but our defense let us down to give them some more runs in the 6th.  In game 3 on Saturday, we gave up 2 unearned runs right away and found ourselves down 6-0.  We did battle back to tie the game with 2 hits by Kailee, Ashley and Kyndal (who had 3 RBI's) plus a triple by Cheyenne.  On Sunday, we looked more like ourselves with a 10 run rule game for game 1 with 2 hits by Cheyenne, Layna, Ashley, Riley and 3 hits by Kailee along with no earned runs given up by Riley and Ella.  In game 2, we had a pitchers duel again for most of the game with us winning it 5-1 with Kailee striking out 7, 3 hits allowed and only 1 run giving up.  Emma and Riley each had 2 hits.  In game 3, it was another good game but we lost by 1 with Mia hitting a a 2 run double and collecting 3 RBI's that game along with 2 hits.  We keep showing what we can be when everyone is there and we have all our pitchers.

Riley led us hitting .500 with 3 doubles and a triple plus 6 runs scored and 12 strikeouts in 9 innings of work.  Emma hit .429 with 2 sac's, 3 walks and threw out 3 runners.  Kyndal hit .364 with a double, 6 RBI's and 2 SB's.  Kailee hit .353 with a dboule and 4 runs scored plus 16 strikeouts in 11 innings. Arissa and Mia hit .333.  Arissa had a couple runs scored and a couple RBI's.  Mia had 2 doubles along with 3 RBI's.  Ashley hit .313 with 2 doubles, 4 runs scored and 4 RBI's. Layna who was only there on Sunday hit . 300 with 2 runs scored a couple SB's.  Cheyenne had a couple triples plus 3 RBI's.  Kendell had 4 runs scored and 3 RBI's. Ella hit a HR along with 3 runs scored.  Addi had a sac, a couple RBI's and walks.

Next up is the 3 day state tournament in Centralia before Metros and the Triple Crown WS in San Diego.  This group is fun to coach but also we are getting stronger each and every day.

It was great to get the team back together to get ready for our June and July tournaments.  We started off well in game one by a 10 run win with Kailee cruising in the circle by only giving up 2 hits and no earned runs.  Addi had a double and a triple along with 3 RBI's and Cheyenne had a double and 2 RBI's.  In game 2, it took us awhile to get going but after giving them 2 unearned runs then finally got it going in the 3rd with Mia hitting a 2 run shot and Cheyenne had 4 RBI's.  Ella went 5 innings in a complete game effort.  In game 3, we struggled and got down 9-0 but after putting up 8 in an inning we were able to extend the time to one last inning.  Chasing 1 run, Kailey hit a double off the fence that scored Layna.  Then Cheyenne had a hit and as Emma walked, Kailey scored on a wild pitch to complete the comeback.  On Sunday, we took care of game 1 very easily led by Ella's 3 innings of 2 hits and no earned runs.  Kailee and Ella had homeruns along with Addi, Cheyenne and Arissa having a double each.  Kyndal and Kailee had 3 RBI's.  In the semi-final game, we got down early and never was able to recover.  Emma had our only RBI of the game.

Arissa led us hitting .800 with a double, 2 RBI's and 4 runs scored.  Ella, Kailee and Kyndal both hit .667.  Ella had a double, 2 RBI's and scored 4 runs plus had 9 strikeouts in 8 innings.  Kailee had a double. homerun, 4 RBI's and only walked 2 batters in almost 9 innings with 8 strikeouts.  Kyndal was there only on Sunday due to graduation but was able to hit a triple and have 3 RBI's.  Cheyenne hit .545 with 3 doubles, 6 RBI's and 6 runs scored.  Addi hit .500 with 2 doubles, a triple and 5 RBI's.  Mia hit .444 with a homerun, 3 RBI's and 4 runs scored.  Ashley hit .429 with 3 runs scored, an RBI and a sac.  Emma and Kendell hit .333.  Emma had 2 RBI's and a sac.  Kendell had 3 stolen bases, 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored.  Kailey hit a perfect 1.000 for Saturday with a double, 2 RBI's and 5 runs scored.

I'm very excited for this year with what we have.  I want to thank Kailey for playing with us this past weekend and a big CONGRADS to Kyndal and Riley on graduating high school.

Legacy Tournament in Medford

We started off in some nice 65 degree weather and it was great ideal ball playing weather for February.  Game 1 went back and forth and we took the lead in the 4th when Kendell hit a a 2 out RBI double scoring Mia, who doubled to lead off the inning.   Then in the bottom of the 4th we had a sun ball fall in that lead to 2 runs and we couldn't manage anything in the 5th before time expired.  They went on to the win the championship and we had our chances to win that game.  Cheyenne also had a RBI hit in that game.  Game 2 we cruised behind Riley's pitching as she struck out 6 in her no-hit 4 innings of work.  We scored first in the top of the 2nd with RBI double by Riley who scored Ashley, who doubled to lead off the inning. The next inning Emma scored both Cheyenne and Addi who both singled earlier in the inning. Layna then doubled in Emma and we got our last run in the top of the 4th with Kyndal's RBI single who scored Riley with her 2nd double of the game.  In game 3, the cold weather came and we matched up against the team that won it all last year.  Even though we were stretched for pitching, we took an early 6-0 lead in the 2nd with RBI walks by Kyndal, Addi, Arissa and Emma plus RBI single by Cheyenne and an sac fly by Layna.  Unfortunatley, it wasn't enough as they came back to beat us by 2.  On Sunday, we gave up 4 unearned runs in the first but put up 3 the next inning with Kendell's 2 run single who scored Mia that singled and Riley, who walked.  Kyndal then scored Kendell on an RBI groundout to put us within 1.  But that was it and they added on a few more to end our weekend.   Regardless the outcome, we were able to play 4 good games in good weather and gave everyone good reps for high school ball plus the fact that we went all fall/winter not having our full team (including all our pitchers) at a full tournament.  Excited to see us play in June and July as a full team after high school ball.

Kendell and Riley both led us hitting .500.  Kendell had a double, scored 2 runs and 3 RBI's.  Riley had 4 walks, scored 4 runs (one was a tough collision with the catcher in the last game) and an RBI plus struckout 7 in 5 plus innings.  Cheyenne hit .333 with an RBI, scored a run and a stolen base.  Emma and Mia both hit .250.  Emma had 3 RBI's, scored a run and a walk.  Mia had a double, scored 2 runs and 3 stolen bases.  Arissa had an RBI, scored 2 runs and 2 walks.  Ashley had 3 walks and scored 2 runs.  Addi had an RBi, scored 2 runs and a walk.  Layna had 2 RBI's, scored a run and a sac fly along with 9 strikeouts in 7 plus innings.  Kyndal had 3 RBI's, scored a run and a walk.  We missed Kailee this weekend but she had a more important event with her high school team making the state tournament for basketball.  Even though they didn't come out on top, Congrads to Cascade Christian on their great run this year in basketball.

Well good luck to all this spring in high school ball and can't wait to get back after it at the end of May.  Let's hope for some good weather and excited to follow all the 11 girls this March-May.

Fall Showcase in AZ

We went to Arizona to get some good games and play in the sun, and we were able to get both.  Game one on Friday was a game that went back and forth but a few too many erros in the 4th led to our 1 run loss.  Layna had a triple along with Addi, Ashley and Cheyenne all having an RBI.  On Saturday, we scored 2 in 3 of the 5 innings and won a tight game by 1 with Layna leading us with 3 RBI's and Kailee got the win in the circle by going all 5 innings.  Game 2 on Saturday got out of hand with a big 2nd innings which were led by 3 errors.  Ashley and Kailee each had 2 hits and an RBI.  On Sunday, we were down 3-0 before we came back to tie it up in the bottom of the 5th but in the 6th they were able to get a run to take the lead and beat us by 1.  Emma and Layna each had an RBI.  It is always tough to go to Arizona with us being at a disadvantage of having to play teams that practice outside all fall and have 3-4 more tournaments in nice weather under their belt.  This is going to be a fun year when we get all 12 girls there at the same time.

Layna led us hitting .667 with a double, triple and a HR along with 4 RBI's and 9 strikeouts in the circle.  Kailee and Kendell both hit .500.  Kailee had a double and had 11 strikeouts in the cirlce.  Kendell had a double and 3 runs scored.  Laynie hit .300 with 2 runs scored an RBI.  Ashley and Cheyenne both hit .273.  Ashley had 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.  Cheyenne had 2 stolen bases and an RBI.  Arissa had an RBI and a run scored.  Emma had an RBI and a run scored.  Addi had a sac along with a run scored.  A big thanks to Chloe for picking up with us and she had a double and 2 RBI's.

Time to put some work in before February.

5th Place in Octoberfest

Saturday didn't start off well with our first two games and not a lot of highlights.  Kailee hit a triple in game one with Cheyenne and Layna collecting the other 2 hits.  In game 2, Kailee had a double and Cheyenne and Emma collected the other 2 hits.  Finally in game 3, we got things going with a win thanks to Kendall and her 2 doubles and 6 RBI's.  What a game she had since she had both doubles with 2 strikes and the first one was with 2 outs as well.  On Sunday, we started off well behind Kailee in the circle with 6 inning complete game and 6 strikeouts.  We were led at the plate by Layna and her 3 hits (2 were doubles) and 2 RBI's along with Ashley, Laynie and Mia each having two hits.  In game 2 on Sunday, we had a weird inning with a Coach (Thanks Greg! LOL) taking out Arissa trying to field a throw, we hit a runner on the helmet and next thing you know we were down 3-0 but it keep going in the top of the 2nd.  They did go on to win the tournament but our one bright spot was our first HR of the year by Layna.  Hoping that practice the next few weeks will get us turned around for AZ to get us to what we can be as a team.

Layna led us hitting .625 with 2 doubles, homerun, 3 RBI's along with 9 strikeouts in the circle.  Mia hit .400 on Sunday with 2 doubles and RBI plus 3 stolen bases.  Kailee hit .333 with a double, triple, 2 RBI's along with 7 strikeouts in the circle.  Ashley hit .285 with a stolen base, a couple runs and an RBI.  Emma and Riley both hit .250.  Emma had and RBI, run scored and couple of walks.  Riley on Sunday had a double, an RBI and a run scored along of 2 good innings in the circle.  Laynie had a double, 2 runs scored and 3 walks.  Kendell had 2 doubles, 6 RBI's and a couple of walks.  Cheyenne had a couple of runs scored and a couple of stolen bases.  Arissa had an RBI and 3 walks.

A big thanks to Aspen who picked up with us to play 2B and played well on defense along with a couple of walks.  Kyndal played SS again for us and played well all day Saturday with several great plays.

Excited to see us get better for Arizona in November.

Go Boltz!

We dropped game one but came back to win 3 games in row and started to play better defense.  In the last game, we lost and gave up a lot of unearned runs.  This will be something we need to work on the next few weeks before we go to Arizona.  In game one, we only mustered 3 hits by Arissa, Ashley and Layna (double) against a good pitcher who challenged us all the game with a good rise ball.  In game 2, we were led by Mia and her 2 hits and 2 RBI's along with her triple.  Chase had a double and 3 RBI's as well as Ahsley with her own 2 RBI's.  Layna got the win in the circle with 5 strikeouts.  In game 3, Ashely had 2RBi's and Chase had another triple.  Emma picked up the win and right before time ran out, Layna picked up the save.  On Sunday, we scored every inning had a 8-1 lead until we gave up 4 unearned runs.  Layna picked up the win going all 4 along with a double and 2 RBI's.  Arissa, Brooklynn, Chase and Emma W all had RBI's.  In the last game we didn't get anything going after we scored one in the first by Ahsley's RBI.  Emma A led us with 2 hits.

Layna led us hitting .455 with 2 doubles, 3 runs scored and had 2 wins, a save and 9 strikeouts in the circle.  Ashley hit .444 with 5 RBI's and 3 walks,  Emma A hit .333 with 3 walks and RBI plus a sac.  Arissa had 4 runs scored and an RBI. Brooklynn had a double, a couple walks and stolen base.  Mia had a triple plus 4 runs scored and 2 RBI's.

Also big thanks for our 4 pick up players: Amidie, Chase, Emma and Lena.  Chase hit .455 with double, 2 triples and 5 RBI's.  Leana hit .333 with 6 walks and 3 runs scored.  Emma had 2 runs scored, a couple of walks and a win in the cirlce.  Amidie scored 2 runs along with 2 walks.

We are back at it again this weekend in Everett and then a few weeks to get ready for Arizona before we take a break until January.

3rd Place in PNW Capital Battle

We started off with a tie in game one after having a lead.  Layna had 9 strikeouts and in the 4th we scored runs with singles by Kyndal, Mia, Riley and a RBI by Kendell.  They came back and scored 2 in the bottom of the 5 with us adding one in the 6th by Laynie walking, Emma's bunt and Cheyenne's single.  They came back to score 2 in the bottom of the 6th and the game ended in a tie due to time.  In game 2, we never got going with the weather and it seems everytime Riley went out to pitch the rain came down harder making be pulled off once during the game.  In the nightcap, we got a win with 2 hits by Mia along with doubles by Emma, Kyndal and Riley and RBI's by Alyssa, Ashley, Mia, and Riley (2 of them).  Kailee went all 5 innings with 9 strikeouts for usin the circle.  On Sunday, we took down a team that went 3-0 on Saturday but scoring a total of 6 runs in 4th, 5th and 6th to give us all we needed for Layna's complete game shutout.  Laynie, Mia and Riley each had 2 hits along with Laynie and Layna having 2 RBI's.  Game 2 on Sunday started out well with us being up 4-0 and the rain came down again and it was tough for all pitchers to grip the ball.  We lost by 1 and they went on to win the championship.  We were led by Laynie's two hits and 2 RBI's by Ashley, Layna and Laynie.  We are getting better everytime we step on the field.

Laynie and Mia led us by hitting .667.  Laynie had a double, 6 RBI's and 6 runs scored.  Mia had a double, 5 runs scored and 4 stolen bases.  Riley hit .444 with a double, 3 RBI's and 4 innings pitched in the circle.  Kailee hit .375 with 3 runs scored, 2 RBI's and 13 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched.  Layna hit .400 with 4 RBI's and struckout 16 in 13 innings.  Cheyenne had an RBI and a run scored.  Emma had a double and a sac.  Ashley had 3 RBI's and a run scored.  Kendell had 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored.  Addi had 2 runs scored and 3 walks.  Arissa had quite a few good at bats by seeing 6 pitches and had 13 putouts at 1st in 3 games.

A big thanks to Alyssa and Kyndal for playing on Saturday since we had 5 girls gone for homecoming and volleyball.  Alyssa had a double, a RBI and a run scored and helped us out behind the plate.  Kyndal hit .333 with a double and a run scored plus played well at SS.

It will be fun to continue to watch this team evlove this fall and come into its own.  We are back at it again this weekend in Tri-cities.

Acer Fall Classic

We started off with a great game one by winning 4-3 and scoring all 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th after being down 3-0.  In the 4th, Addi led us off with a single, then Cheyenne walked, followed with a bunt base hit by Emma, Laynie had an RBI walk, Cheyenne stole home on a pass ball and we ended with a 2 run double by Kailee to give us all we needed.  Layna struck out 2 of the 3 batters to give us the win.  In game 2, we gave them 7 outs in an inning and not helping out Riley in the circle which we never recovered from.  Arissa (double), Cheyenne and Mia each had a hit.  In game 3, we scored 13 runs in the first 2 innings and never looked back as we only played 3 innings.  Ashley and Brooklynn each had 2 RBI's and as well as Ashely having 2 hits.  Kailee and Arissa combined on a 1 hit shutout with 5 strikeouts.  On Sunday, we had a great back and forth game with one run being scored in the first but a great double play by Brooklynn ended their threat.  It was 1-0 until the top of the 5th when Kailee and Layna each led off the inning with a hit, then Ashley had a great sac bunt by moving them around to 2nd and 3rd.  Brooklynn had an RBI single to score Kailee and Riley scored Layna on a ground ball up the middle fo ran RBI.  They scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th and as we got the last out of the inning, time expired to stop us going the full 7 innings.  It was a great game to come back down after 4 to take the lead and barely lose it in the bottom of the 6th.  Our defense got better from the previous day which will always give us a chance to win if we make the routine plays.  Kailee led us with 2 hits and Layna, Brooklynn and Kendell all had a hit.

Cheyenne and Kailee led us hitting .500.  Cheyenne scored 3 runs and had an RBI plus a great catch on Sunday to end a bases loaded threat.  Kailee had a double, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBI's plus threw 2 innings with 4 strikeouts.  Addi, Ashley and Brooklynn all hit .400.  Addi scored 3 runs and had a walk.  Ashley had a double, 2 RBI's, scored a run and a sac bunt.  Brooklynn had 3 RBI's, HBP and a great play double play on Sunday.  Emma and Layna hit .333.  Emma had an RBI and a sac bunt.  Layna had a double, scored 3 runs and an RBI plus pitched 11 innings with 6 strikeouts.  Kendell scored a run along with a walk.  Arissa had a double and scored a run plus threw an inning with a strikeout.  Laynie had a double, scored 3 runs and had an RBI plus 2 great catches at the fence.  Mia scored a run and had a walk.  Riley had 2 RBI's and a walk plus threw 4 innings with no earned runs and had 2 strikeouts.

It was great to get on the field again and can't wait to see us back in action again next weekend in Chehalis.

Go Boltz!

Great start to the new season

It was fun to watch the girls compete in the start of 2023-24 season this past Sunday at the RAC with a couple of drop-in games that ended in 2 wins.  In game one, Layna and Arissa combined for 4 innings of 4 strikeouts, 1 hit and 1 earned run.  At the plate Cheyenne, Kailee, Mia and Arissa all had 2 hits and Cheyenne, Laynie, Kailee and Kendell all had 2 RBI's. Layna, Ashley, Mia and Arissa all had one RBI along with Cheyenne, Emma, Layna and Addi all getting on by a walk. Layna, Brooklynn and Riley each had a hit. Emma had a sac bunt.

In game 2, Riley led us with 3 hits and Addi had 2 hits.  Arissa led us with 5 RBI's along with Ashley having 2 and one added by Kendell.  Mia, Kendell, Arissa, Laynie and Ashley each had a hit and Brooklynn, Mia, Arissa, Cheyenne, Emma and Layna all got on by a walk. Kailee slammed the door in the bottom of the 5th to get the save.

For our first two games being together and all being there for the first time, we played good defense with a runner thrown out by Mia, a couple nice catches by Laynie, a great backhand by Layna and Kendell, plus we ended game two with Cheyenne throwing out the runner at 3rd with a diving tag by Layna.  I think the inning I heard the most noise from our fans was the 2nd inning of game 2 when we had the diving backhand by Layna, a hard comebacker that went off Riley's glove and she went behind her to throw out the batter and then ended with a strikeout.  Can't wait to see more of that and hear more of our crowd due to a great 1, 2, 3 inning.

Excited to see this group in action again this weekend up in Kent.  It has now come back full circle for the Boltz with 8 former Lady Boltz/Renegades returning, 3 girls that I coached last year and one that we have played against since our 8u days.  What a ride it has been and can't wait to see where it is at the end of this summer.

Go Boltz!

Final post after 10 years

Well after 10 years, it finally has come to an end.  It has been a pleasure to coach so many girls over the years on the Lady Boltz team.  We had a great run of going 408-106-12 with winning 32 tournaments, finishing 2nd 13 times, finishing third 7 times and 5 fifth place finishes. Playing sports nowadays is different from when I was growing up because it was frowned upon for parents to talk to coaches about playing time, social media didn't exists (which is why I don't have Facebook still to this day), the team was first before individual play (which is why I don't show stats) and we played for our own town and only the best 2 or 3 kids from your town made the one allstar team for the entire county.  We were able to accomplish a lot of things over the years during today's era when parents want to always blame coaches (regardless of the time they put in for no pay and the passion they have) on their child's lack of success or playing time, it's accepted to put things on social media that only tells one side of the story, when individual play is rewarded by parents more than team wins, and holding kids accountable or discplining is ok as long as it isn't "My Kid." I am so proud of all the kids that played for us that improved their skills and took their game to the next level. My last and final bit of advice is what I saw in a football lockeroom about 20 years ago that I use in my baseball program still to this day.  "Winners accept, losers deflect."  This means that the winning mentality is to accept what you have done wrong, allow a coach to improve it and apply it in a game to help your team win.  The losing mentality is to never accept what you did wrong and even justify why you did it that way, not allowing a coach to help you improve that mistake and then not getting better to help your team win.  Being a good teammate is more valuable to a team than your talent!

Here is a list of all the girls and coaches that still keep in touch with us and finished the entire season that only left us due to another sport, hobby or aged out.  Many of these girls listed below finished the season with us this year and were on the field during our last game.

I want to thank the following that played and coached with us for 2 years: Alan Clark, Kaylei Clark, Kaylee Demers (she picked up with us throughout the years including this year), Sara Haury, DJ Lucero, Madison Stokes and Audrey Williams.

Thanks to Maddy Erickson for being with us for 3 years. I loved watching #22 compete all the way up to the very end in Medford.

Thanks to the players and coach that were with us for 4 years: Zoey McClenic, Madison Teeter, Stephanie Teeter, Chase Wirt and Emma Wirt.  We were lucky enough to have Chase and Emma come over from Eastern WA to play a few times this year with us and even were there at the end in Medford.

Thanks to the players and coach that were with us for 5 years: Kayden Perigo, Mo Perigo and Brooklynn Swenson.  Coach Mo, #7 & #13 will always be a big part of our success and I thank you so much for juggling two sports at once.

Last but not least to the 4 girls that ended with us (Maddy, Emma and Chase were there too who are listed above) and were with us for 6 years or more.  3 of them are like daughters to me plus my own, not to mention a few listed above will always be part of our extended family.  I will always love you girls and thanks for all the effort you gave me and the other coaches over the years.  You have made an impact in my life and I'm your biggest fan.

Elissa Dewees played with us for 6 years and is one of the fastest players I have ever coached.  She will play through any injury (would hide them from me too) and will always compete regardless of the situation. Elissa was one of our leaders over the years and lead by example by playing the game the right way. Also I loved watching #11 all these years beat out routine ground balls to an infielder with a hard 60.

Layna Demers played with us for 9 years and she is another one who will play through any kind of injury without telling me.  She is one of the most competitive kids I have ever coached and she gives you everything as a teammate especially in the circle.  Layna came up with so many clutch performances in the circle or at the plate and I will miss having #32 be the workhorse of our team.

Cheyenne Justice also played for 9 years and I still have never told her dad, Jimmy, she could play with us, since he flat out told me she would be on our team when moving up to 10u.  LOL.  She got better every year and her work ethic is unmatchable.  Her slap game has improved to be one of the best around especially with 2 strikes.  I'm fortunate enough to get to coach #26 still next year since she is moving on with Emma.

Finally my own daughter, Emma Arko, who put up with me for 10 years.  Your ability to catch almost every inninng, especially 9 games in 110 degree heat and not complain, is amazing.  I appreciate how you can put the bat on the ball and bunt in any situation.  It is never easy to be the coaches daughter and have people target you but you handled it well and you are a better person because of it.  Thanks for everything you gave us and I'm very proud of you #2!

The last shoutout is to Lee Stuard that came to me 9 years ago and said he would help out in any way and not only did I get a coach, I received a friend, a golfing buddy and a future carpool partner the next year.  Thank you Lee for the last 8 years and all the support plus all the snacks in the dugout.

Again thank you all and I wouldn't change a thing because there were too many great memories that overshadow a few dips in the road.  Just to name a few of my favorite memories: winning 5 state titles and dancing after a few of them, getting 3rd in NAFA Nationals after getting in the loser bracket early, finishing 3rd at NSA state in 110 degree heat and coming back through the loser bracket, winning the NSA B Western World Series in CA and all the friendships that have been gained by my daughter and myself.  Once a Lady Bolt, always a LADY BOLT!!!!!!!!!!

For one last time.....GO LADY BOLTZ!

Coach Chad Arko out.....

5th at USA 16A Western Nationals

We started off well and won all 3 of our pool games.  We won on Tuesday 10-0 with Mia having 3 RBI's, 2 RBI's by Aaleigha and RBI's by Chase, Emma A. and Emma W.  On Wednesday, we won game 1 by 5 with Elissa having a triple and a double and 2 doubles by Brooklyn.  Chase, Emma A. and Zoe each had an RBI.  In game 2 of the day, we had another run rule game with a 1 hit shutout by Layna.  On the offensive side we had multiple hits by Aaleigha, Elissa and Maddy.  Brooklyn and Mia added doubles.  Then came bracket play and we drew a good team that we put up 7 on in the first innings with a 2 run shot by Brooklyn and RBI's by Chase and Mia.  We stalled for awhile but put up 4 in the bottom of the 5th after they tied it up.  Elissa and Mia had RBI's plus Emma A had a 2 run triple.  They scored 3 in the top of the 6th but we held on to win by 1.  Thursday came and we needed to win one to make it to a top 3 finish but we couldn't get it going.  We lost game one by 3 with a great comeback in the top of the 7th by scoring 4 with RBI's by Emma A, Emma W, Layna and Mia, but we ran out of luck.  Our 2nd game of the day just never got started like we would have liked it and we only could muster a few runs to finish 5th overall.

Elissa led us hitting .588 with a double, triple 2 RBI's and scored 8 runs.  Cheyenne hit .538 with 5 runs scored, an RBI and 2 walks. Brooklyn hit .533 with 3 doubles, 2 HR's and 6 RBI's.  Mia hit .467 with 3 doubles, 4 RBI's and 3 runs scored.  Aaleigha hit .444 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI's and 5 runs scored.  Laynie hit .428 with 6 runs scored and 2 RBI's.  Emma A hit .421 with a triple, 5 RBI's and a sac.  Maddy hit .400 with a double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's plus pitched 7 innings.  Chase hit .333 with a double, 5 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Zoe had a walk and was on a few times.  Layna had 2 doubles along with 5 runs scored and pitched 16.33 innings.  Emma W had a 2 RBI's and a sac plus threw 12 innings.

It was a great finish for the girls by going 12-3 in the month of July and won a stretch of 12 games in a row.

Thanks to all and Go Lady Boltz!

West Coast World Series Champs July 2021

What an incredible season by these 11 girls and they ended it on high note of winning the NSA Western World Series to finish their record of 94-8-2 on the year. We rolled in game one and we were matched up against the only other WA team for game two of pool play.  We took the lead early 6-0 but they made their comeback like always and we held on to win 6-4.  By going 2-0 and only giving up 4 runs, we found ourselves the #1 seed so we were able to rest Friday morning with a bye and then drew the same team we played Thursday morning but this time the game was closer. We held on to win 8-2.  Saturday morning came and so did the run to win it all.  We played a very popular organization in California and it was only 2-1 going into the 3rd due to a very slow pace, but in the bottom of the 3rd Elissa led off with a hit, Emma had a sac bunt, Layna drew a walk and with two out hits by Zoe and Megan, we were able to score the final 3 runs.  Haley shut the door in the top of the 4th and that was the game due to time.  In the semi-finals, the two WA teams found themselves both undefeated in bracket play but with a double play in the top of the 1st and 6 hits and 9 runs in the bottom of the inning, we cruised to a 11-0 victory which was not very common for that team.  As the girls went back to the hotel to wait for the championship game, games got behind so finally an hour later the game started.  We once again found ourselves playing Fury from WA and we took a 2-0 led right away with Elissa walking and Layna hitting a single that got by the leftfielder that allowed her to take the trip around the bases.  They made a comeback in the 3rd off of a few errors and we found ourselves down 3-2 going in the bottom of the 3rd.  Like always what the LB's do, we made a comeback with quite a few walks and balls put into play, we scored 5 runs and took the lead.  Maddy finished them off in the last two innings and when time ran out in the bottom of the 5th we were champs.  What a great week and season this year for our girls.

Elissa led us hitting .625 with 8 walks, 10 runs scored and 3 RBI's.  Layna hit .583 with 4 doubles, 8 runs scored, 9 RBI's and had 8 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched.  Kayden and Maddy both hit .500.  Kayden had 2 doubles, 3 runs scored and 4 RBI's.  Maddy had a triple, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI's and pitched 5 1/3 innings with getting the win in the championship game.  Caylee and Megan both hit .400.  Caylee had a double, 6 runs scored and 5 RBI's.   Megan had a grand slam, 4 runs scored and 6 RBI's.  Brooklynn hit .375 with a double, 4 runs scored and 4 RBI's.  Zoe hit .363 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI's.  Cheyenne had 3 walks, 3 runs scored and an RBI.  Haley had 5 walks, 3 runs scored and had 9 strikeouts in 11 innings pitched.  Emma had 7 walks, 3 sac's and 3 RBI's.

I am so excited to see what next year brings as we move up to 16A.  In 2.5 years of B ball, we went 207-37-7 along with winning 19 tournaments, seven 2nd place finishes and five 3rd place finishes.  It has been a great run the last 7 years when the Lady Boltz organization started and have maintained a .820 winning percentage.  The last 5 years with the current team has been very special since we all gathered as TCFA rec level players to become a very good B team that now has the ability to compete at the highest level.  These girls have earned it and we have done this with the core of same girls year in and year out and very little turnover and no tryouts.  Unfortunately, this year we will lose two very important pieces to our puzzle.  I'm excited for our future but will deeply miss Brooklynn and Kayden.  Also thanks to Coach Mo for coaching the last 5 years and we will miss your passion for the game and the ability to make the girls better.  We love you three and will miss all of you tremendously but know you all will always be a Lady Bolt for life.

I have mentioned this before but winning isn't the only thing that these girls will gain from playing fastpitch, because the memories will last a lifetime.  Below you can see how much respect we have for Fury and congrats to them on their great run this past week as well.  We both represented the state of Washington well.

Go Lady Boltz!

USA State Champs July 2021

Another great weekend for the girls and another state title.  It has been an amazing run to win two state titles and get 3rd in the other.  Friday started with a very close game where we just didn't hit the ball.  We escaped with a victory and headed into Saturday with a team that knocked us into the loser's bracket last weekend in NSA state.  We took a 8-0 lead in the first but they answered in the 2nd to make it a 8-4 game.  Then we got 1 in the 5th plus 2 in the 6th off of Caylee's 2nd HR of the game to give us a 11-4 victory behind the pitching of Layna and two hits all by Elissa, Zoe (double and triple), Layna, Caylee, & Maddy.  In the next game, we faced the team that won NSA state last week and has had a good run this year too.  We scored one in the 1st with 2 in the 2nd followed by 5 in the 3rd and 4 in the 5th to win by the run rule.  We put our foot on the gas pedal and never let up behind the strong pitching of Haley.  Elissa, Emma, Zoe and Megan all had two hits along with Layna, Caylee and Haley all having 2 RBI's.  Sunday came with us being in the winner's final game which went back and forth all game until the 5th when we took a 2 run lead.  Then we added one more in the 6th with Maddy slamming the door to give us the victory.  Megan led us with 3 hits and Caylee and Maddy had two each.  We then had to wait a game to play the championship game but what a great game before as the two teams battled it out for two extra innings.  In the championship game, we faced the Acers again but it was their fourth game of the day and they were tired.  We took it to them from the start and ended the game with a run rule lead by Elissa, Emma and Caylee all having two hits plus the strong pitching of Haley.  You can see the picture down below the respect us and the Acers both have for each other and the year we have both had.  Between the two of us, we have won all 3 state titles along with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finish by the other team.  It is nice to play good teams especially them who are coached by a very good coach along with some great fans that had a lot of complimentary comments for us after the game.  This is why we do this to have those memories plus appreciate each other's high level of play.

Elissa led us by hitting .526 with a double, triple, scored 5 runs and had 6 RBI's.  Maddy hit .500 with a double, scored a few runs and had a few RBI's plus had 3 very solid innings in the circle in our semi-final game.  Caylee hit .467 with 2 HR's along with 6 runs scored and 9 RBI's.  Emma hit .429 with 6 walks, 6 runs scored and 4 RBI's.  Zoe hit .412 with 3 doubles, a triple along with 7 runs scored.  Megan hit .389 with 7 runs scored and 8 RBI's.  Layna hit .353 with 2 doubles, 6 runs scored and had 15 strikeouts in 9 innings. Brooklynn hit .308 with a triple, 7 runs scored, a couple RBI's and 3 stolen bases.  Haley had two doubles with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI's plus had 17 strikeouts in 15 innings.  Cheyenne had 3 runs scored plus was on base with a few walks and played well in the OF all weekend.

I'm excited to see how we do the last two tournaments with NAFA Nationals next week along with NSA Western WS at the end of this month.

Go Lady Boltz!

USSSA 14u State Champs June 2021

After getting second two years ago in 12B USSSA state and with no state championships last year, the Lady Boltz once again can come themselves "State Champs" for the 4th time in the last 5 seasons played.  What a great weekend and it started off with an easy win in game one but in game 2 it took us 4 innings until we put up 6 against a very good pitcher that shut us down back in April too.  Layna, Brooklynn, and Megan all had hits to lead off the inning.  Haley was hit by a pitch, then Elissa and Emma both walked, followed by Zoe's sac fly and finally Caylee's 2 run base hit resulted in all 6 runs.  That was all that was needed behind Haley's 1 baserunner appearance along with 12 strikeouts.  On Sunday, we faced a very good team that we have split with so far this year, and we found ourselves ahead 3-0 with an Elissa walk, Emma bunted for a base hit, Elissa scored on Zoe's RBI ground ball and with two outs Layna hit a ball that took a wicked hop up over the CF which resulted in a two run homerun.  They battled back and took the lead 6-3 going into the bottom of the 5th when all of a sudden the weirdest inning I have been part of happened, even though it's not uncommon for the Lady Boltz to produce runs like this.  Brooklynn led off with a infield single, followed by walks by Haley and Cheyenne.  Elissa got a ball that was mishandled by the pitcher that scored Megan with the catcher's foot off the plate.  Emma got a bunt base hit that scored Cheyenne.  Zoe reached on an error that took a tough in between hop that loaded up the bases.  Then came the biggest 6 inch walk off RBI you will ever see.  The catcher stepped over the plate to field the ball and throw Caylee out at 1st but Elissa scored since the plate was never touched and that was the game.  4 runs on two hits, two errors, two walks and without the ball leaving the infield, the Lady Boltz win in their "We put pressure on you" fashion.  What a game and most teams would have a tough time continuing again right away after all the energy used on that comeback victory, but we had no trouble winning 10-0 in the winner's bracket game.  After going 4-0 to start off the tournament, now came the dreaded long 3.5 hour break and we had this happen two years ago where we just never got going again after sitting around to wait for the championship game.  In the 1st championship game, it was back and forth through 4 innings but in the 5th inning when we took a lead of 10-3 and never looked back.  The good team our opponent is, made a little comeback in the 7th inning but the Lady Boltz won 11-6 to become State Champs without needing to worry about the "IF" game.  What a great weekend and a game to remember forever earlier that day.

Elissa led us hitting .600 with 9 runs scored and and only got out 4 times all weekend along with her great defense, she received MVP honors for the tournament. Layna hit .583 with a double and HR and 6 RBI's plus had 15 strikeouts in 12.33 innings. Maddy and Olivia both hit .500.  Maddy had a run scored and reached base on a walk plus closed the door in the championship game pitching the last two innings.  Olivia had a double in the championship game along with an RBI.  Emma hit .429 with 6 walks and 2 sac bunts.  Cheyenne hit .417 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI's.  Brooklynn hit .400 with 5 runs scored and 3 RBI's plus played well at SS all weekend.  Zoe hit .385 with a double and HR plus scored 6 runs along with 7 RBI's.  Megan hit .357 with a double, 3 runs scored and 5 RBI's.  Haley had a triple along with 7 walks plus 2 RBI's and had 17 strikeouts in 8.67 innings.  Caylee had a double and scored 3 runs along with 3 RBI's plus playing solid at 1st all weekend.

Well one down and a few more to go for state tournaments.  I'm excited to travel to the Eastside this upcoming weekend for NSA state for the 1st time for our program.

Go Lady Boltz!

3rd Place at NAFA Nationals July 2019

Not sure what can be said about these amazing 12 girls, that all return next year as a Lady Boltz, that hasn't been said before.  Going into our 3rd year with the same 12 girls and 4th year with the same 11, I shouldn't be amazed but after being in the biggest tournament ever, they showed me something that none of us have ever seen from the girls.  With 38 B teams, with us being in our 1st true loser bracket other than Sunday for state, with us facing 7 straight loser out games, playing in almost 90 degree heat and also being the only team to play 11 games in 4 days, I have never been so proud of these girls and this program.  We won our 1st two pool games and we won our 1st bracket game.  Then came day 3 and we lost our 2nd bracket game and the uphill battle of 9 straight games to win it all faced us plus the fact that the team we were going to play in game 1 of the loser bracket was a team that beat us twice in June in a NAFA tournament with one game being for the title.  The girls once again got rid of the ugly elephant in the room and mentally just brought it with a 12 run rule win.  Games 3 and 4 of day 3 wer no different with two 7 run rule wins against good teams.  Day 4 brought the early 8:30 game and the girls were tough again and won by 12 runs.  In game 2 of the day, we faced the team that put us in the loser bracket the day before and the girls didn't care and won a good game by 3 runs.  Game 3 brought us against a good team but the girls 7 run ruled that team too.  When people say they hit the wall, I'm not sure if they really know what it is like to push themselves just a little bit more, but our girls finally did it in game 11.  With almost 90 degree heat and the balls hit in the 5/6 hole (give credit to their SS who had a very strong arm) and the bunts we couldn't beat out anymore where we had beaten them out by 2 or 3 steps all week long.  Regardless our girls did an outstanding job and was the only true B WA team left to finish 3rd. Our girls had a blast trading pins (seemed our pins were very popular) plus we were represented well in the events Friday night.  Our base race team of Brooklynn, Cheyenne, Elissa & Zoe placed 2nd plus the girls had a lot of fun doing their skit on Thursday night. It's hard to miss the pink girls, maybe it's because they represent us so well and with pride plus always a smile on their faces.

Kayden led us hitting .590 with four doubles, 3 triples and 2 homeruns along with 12 RBI's and 9 runs scored to earn All-Tournament honors.  Zoe hit .476 with a double, 8 runs scored, 2 RBI's and played well at 2 positions all week.  Emma hit .411 with a double, 5 sac's, 3 RBI's, 6 runs scored and caught 10 of our 11 games along with throwing out 4 runners.  Olivia hit .380 with a double, 4 RBI's and 4 runs scored along with great base running all week long.  Cheyenne and Elissa both hit .375.  Cheyenne had 4 RBI's, 4 runs scored, 3 stolen bases with being a great threat slapping and bunting.  Elissa scored 12 runs, had 6 walks, 5 stolen bases and played a solid 2nd base all week.  Brooklynn hit .368 with 2 sac's, 2 RBI's, 4 runs scored and a solid 3rd base shutting down everyone's bunting game.  Layna hit .350 with a double, a HR, 4 RBI's, 11 runs scored along with 25 strikeouts in 24 innings to earn All-Tournament honors.  Cally and Caylee both hit .333. Cally had a triple (would have been a homerun in a tight game), a homerun, 9 RBI's, 5 walks plus played great at all 3 positions over the week.  Caylee had a legit HR if there was a fence there at 200 ft, 12 RBI's, 4 runs and played solid at 1st all week long.  Talia hit .286 with 7 runs scored, 3 RBI's and played well in the OF all week.  Haley hit .250 with 2 sac's, 3 RBI's, 5 runs scored along with 24 strikeouts in 21 innings plus never walked a single batter all week to earn All-Tournament honors.

I love the support we get from all our fans including parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends that we have for the Lady Boltz every tournament.  I had several compliments about how much of a following we have each and every game.  Another comment that I absolute loved was when someone said "I hate playing you because your girls are so fast and you put a lot of pressure on defenses."  LOL.  Welcome to Lady Boltz Fastpitch where we pitch well, play good defense and run you all around the yard to make your defense make plays or it you will be in for a long day for you!

I am excited to see where we go in the next year because I love coaching these 12 girls and they bring a smile to my face each and every time I get to coach the "Pink Mafia".  Go Lady Boltz!

6th Tournament Championship for the Year July 2018

What do I say about these amazing 12 girls that I haven't already written before.  On Saturday, the girls won both games in 92 degree heat in West Linn, Oregon by only giving up 2 runs, while scoring 23 runs and giving us the #1 seed for our pool.  On Sunday, we had a decent 1st game in the late morning but then came the heat with almost 100 degree weather and the dreaded 2 game break.  In the semi-final game, we found ourself down by 3 going into the bottom of the 4th.  That's when the girls responded like they always do.  Emma led off with an 8 pitch walk, Kayden singled, Caylee hit a 2 runs double, Zoe had an RBI single and with that we had a 1 run lead.  Haley shut them down in the top of the 5th and in the bottom of the inning, Cheyenne lead off with a single, Talia crushed an RBI triple, Olivia had an RBI, Elissa and Emma had back to back bunts to score Olivia and that was time and a 4 run win.  In the championship game, we cruised to a 9 run lead but it didn't last long with a few nice hits and a couple errors by us. We were able to hold on to win by 4 and won our 6th tournament title along with our 51st win of the year.

Kayden hit .875 with four 2B's, HR, had 8 RBI's, 10 runs scored and only got out once all weekend.  Elissa hit .667 with 5 runs scored, 3 walks, did great behind the plate and only got out 3 times all weekend.  Talia who was only there for Sunday due to being a movie star in the Lakefair parade but she still hit .600 with a 3B, had 2 RBI's and scored 4 runs.  Layna hit .417 with a 2B, had 5 RBI's, scored 4 runs, only got out twice all weekend and was amazing in the circle with 13 strikeouts in 7 innings.  Caylee hit .375 with a 2B, 3B, had 7 RBI's, scored 7 runs and only got out twice all weekend.  Zoe hit .363 with 2 RBI's, scored 4 runs, 3 stolen bases and turned a double play in CF.  Olivia hit .333 with 3 RBI's, scored 3 runs and only got out 3 times all weekend.  Cally hit .300 with 4 runs scored, an RBI, 2 walks, pitched a complete game on Sunday along with 8 strikeouts in 6 innings.  Emma also hit .300 with 2 RBI's, 5 runs scored, 3 walks, a slide (LOL), and was great behind the plate with 2 runners thrown out.  Haley had an RBI, 4 runs scored, 3 walks, 10 strikeouts in 9 innings and threw a complete game on Saturday.  Cheyenne had an RBI, 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases and had 3 free passed.  Brooklynn had 2 RBI's, 3 runs scored, 2 stolen bases and plays so many spots for us when I juggle the lineup in the infield and the outfield so she is Ms. Dependable.

Well our run at the C level is done and we were told we only won last year at 10U because there was no competition.  This year we were told we would struggle at 12C because teams that at that level have tryouts and they aren't Rec teams like us.  Well after winning our 3rd straight state title, going 92-11-1 the last 2 years and winning 6 tournaments this year along with a 2nd and 3rd place finish, I think our girls did a great job of rising to the challenge.  Next year at the B level it will be a challenge with many select teams.  I am so proud of these 12 girls and the fact that we will return all of them says something about what we do in the Lady Boltz program.  With nowadays all the talk about girls have to play select ball to earn a scholarship, you have to pay a lot of money to play on a good team, or the fact that you need to find all the best players every year, it is fun to be part of the Pink Mafia and be able to develop all our girls instead of looking for 5 to 6 new girls every year.  I feel privilege to be part of this program and the fact that most teams looked like they wanted to be done in June, but some of our parents were upset that their weekends of watching these awesome girls is over for this year, tells us we are doing the right thing with these TCFA/CGSA girls that came together with no tryouts.  Can't wait to get ready for the next level and to start practice again in August.

Go Lady Boltz!

Back to Back to Back State Champs June 2018

What a great finish to the 2018 season as we are once again State CHAMPS! All the hard work has paid off and on Saturday we started game 1 at 8:30 in the morning with a 10-0 win.  In game 2, was more of a challenge but we won 9-4. On Sunday, we played the semi-finals at 8:30 again and we took care of business with a 9-1 win with some great pitching behind Haley.  In the championship game, Cally and Haley pitched well but the game was changing with only a 7-4 lead for them until Olivia came up and hit an 0-2 two out RBI single that changed the momentum of the game. We won 9-4 and were once again state champs which marked the last days of playing at the "C" level which is where all 12 of our girls started at.  Our 4 year run at C will end with a record of 169-35-3 with 12 tournament championships, 4 2nd place finishes, 1 third place finish and also a 5th place finish at state.  After winning league and state 3 years in a row, we have accomplished a lot but our days are only brighter since the fact that we are keeping the same girls together which is pretty much unheard of nowadays with all the team hoppers, grass is greener somewhere else, let's change our name and combine with another team attitudes in the youth sports atomsphere.  I'm proud to be the coach of the Lady Boltz and the fact that these girls improve every day, have fun together on and off the field, have the support of the PINK MAFIA, and the fact we aren't looking for 3 to 5 new girls each year, is such a fun thing to be part of.

Elissa lead us hitting .857 with 3 walks, 6 runs scored and played a solid 2nd base.  Kayden hit .600 with a triple, HR, 5 walks, 5 RBI's and played great at SS.  Haley hit .500 with 4 runs scored, 2 walks but once again was amazing in the circle with 21 strikeouts in 8.33 innings.  Talia also hit .500 with 4 runs scored, an RBI and only got out twice all weekend.  Olivia hit .400 with 2 RBI's, sac and great 2 strike 2 out hit. Caylee hit .333 with 6 walks, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI's and played solid at 1B.  Cheyenne hit .333 also with 4 walks and 4 runs scored.  Emma hit .333 as well with 2 walks, 3 RBI's, 2 sacs and was beast once again behind the play.  Layna also hit .333 with 3 walks, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI's and was great with 9 strikeouts in game 1 on Saturday.  Brooklynn had 2 walks, an RBI and played multiple positions well for us.  Zoe had 4 walks, 2 runs scored and was on base 6 times. Cally had 5 walks, scored 2 runs and had 6 strikeouts in 4 innings of work in the circle.

Can't wait to get better the next few weeks before we end our seasons with our last tournament in a few weekends in Olympia.  Then the next adventure will start with tournaments only.  We will get after it again starting in August and then with fall ball in Rainier, Oregon for September & part of October before we have our 1st 2018-19 tournament in November at the HUB. Keep making memories is our goal and it has been a fun ride so far.

Go Lady Boltz!

Back to Back to Back League Champs May 2018

Well after another great year, the girls finished off their 3rd straight league title last night by going 14-0 and to win their 72nd straight league game.  During this run, we have had many girls that hadn't played before or had little knowledge of the game, but every one of these girls improved and I hope they all had as much fun as I did.  The smile on the face of watching a girl have success and when the lightbulb goes on, is the reason I coach.  This has truly been an amazing run of 80-3-2 for a 4 year record and this wouldn't have been done without the hard work of each of these girls, the coaches, and all you parents.

Last night Elissa, Emma, Kayden and Caylee all reached base 4 times.  Cally reached base 3 times.  Layna had 3 RBI's.  Zoe, Brooklynn, Cheyenne, Talia & Olivia all reached base 2 times.  Kenna had a walk and scored a run.  Haley had 5 strikeouts in 4 innings of pitching.  We ended each game with a double play with Elissa ending game 1 with a tag and throw and Olivia ending game 2 with a catch and throw.

Thanks Thurston County Fastpitch Association for a great 4 years.  Onto the next level and a new adventure with this incredible hardworking team!
