Rules ans Bylaws

 
 
LEAGUE RULES / BYLAWS

1. All games are 7 innings
A: First game to start AT 6:00
1: First game has 15 minute grace period
B: Second game of night follows directly after first
1: NO GRACE PERIOD, BE THERE EARLY OR FORFEIT

2. Run Rule:

25 after 3 innings (*NEW)

20 after 4 innings.
15 after 5 innings.

3. All batters start with a 1-1 count, NO FOUL TO WASTE
1: Strike mat will be used, plate and mat a strike
2: Arc 3-10 USSSA slow pitch, fakes allowed
3. Pitchers allowed 6 feet behind rubber

4: Home runs
Limit 5 then progressive
1. Clear bases do not have to run them out, or touch 1st base
A: GO GET YOUR BALL 

5: Courtesy Runners
 
1 : A batter/runner may ask for a courtesy runner if need be. But once he does so, he can no longer pass first base on any hit that he gets after that. Homer runs are allowed, because he does not have to run it out. A batter/runner can reach 1st base before asking for a runner. Once taking a runner he, can NOT MAKE AN ATTEMPT TO ROUND FIRST BASE IN HIS NEXT AT BATS. If batter somehow hit’s the ball and it rolls under the fence for a ground rule double, he is ALLOWED 2nd base, and can get a runner from there.

 
 
6. Lineup cards:
1: Each team is to date and hand in a lineup card prior to the game starting. If the card is not handed in players that may have attended will not get credit for game come playoff time, if team is questioned. If a player shows up late for the game make sure they are added to the card. A player must be present in order to get credit for the game even if injured. You need to make half the amount of games to qualify for playoffs if even number of games.If odd number of games say 21 must make 10 to qualify.


7: Forfeits:
1: 3 forfeits and your team is suspended for the year. NO REFUNDS on your league fee.
2: You must have at least 8 of your own players to start a game
A: if you start with 8 you give up home field if you have it, and the 9th position in the batting order is an out. If players show up late, you can sub in ONLY ONE person, for the 9th position in the batting lineup at the top of the inning. If you want to put in the others you must sub him with someone already in the lineup. This is your punishment for showing up late. Player must be added in at the top of an inning.

3. A TEAM THAT FORFIETS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING THE UMPIRE THE FULL $40



8. Bats: New 2014

Must have new USSSA thumbprint. 

All bats are subject to compression test before they can be use.

NO dents, cracks, chips, rattles, or engraved stamps allowed.

9: Ejections:
1. If you are ejected from the game you are to leave the field IMMEDIATELY. No hanging out in, around, or above the dugouts.
A: Automatic 1 game suspension, you are not allowed onto the field, or in and around dugouts for that game.
2. ANY FIGHTS all members involved will and can be suspended indefinitely !! Minimum 3 games that don't count towards season totals.
A: NO refunds on league fees
B: Decisions on suspensions will be made by team reps, and officers of the league. If a team rep is involved another player may be used in there place. MINIMUM penalty for fighting WILL BE 3 GAMES that do not count as games played for all players involved. ANY DISPUTE TO THIS CAN AND WILL GET YOU BANNED FROM THE LEAGUE !! I don’t care who you are or how long you’ve been down there.
3. ANY vulgarity or threats to an umpire can and will get you tossed.

10: FIELD PREP / and Maintenance
1: If you have the first game of the night , reps from both teams must get down there early, drag the field, and fill in what you can for holes.
A: Keys to the lights and dragger, are at the police station. RETURN KEYS. Unlock the light box, get the bases unlock the dragger, them return the keys, do it before game starts, do not hand it off to anyone .
B: Lock everything back up after using COMBO IS 0600


2.Trash
A: You bring it in you bring it out, that simple.
Teams of game 2 of the night make sure game 1 cleans out the dugout, same with game 3, make sure game 2 cleans out there trash. You will get 1 warning. That goes for both teams that play the 3rd game of the night. If it happens again, the COACH / TEAM REP, WILL BE SUSPENDED for 1 game, so coaches / team reps make sure your guys clean up after that 3rd game. Trash bags are located in the shed along with the bases and mat.



3: There is now a camera mounted on the Rec. center, live feed to the police station, covers the parking lot and most of the field. Any signs of trouble they will be down.
A: ALL BEER MUST BE IN CUPS OR CONCEALED
1: Recycle your cans into bin , or take them home with you do not leave them near the trash. Don’t drink in front of the windows when they are having meetings, bring it over closer to the field. Again pick up your mess. Try to buy cans, keep bottles and glass away from the field and playground. Town says no glass.
4: THERE WILL BE NO DRINKING OUT IN THE PARKING LOT, OR NEAR THE PLAYGROUND. TRY TO BRING COOLERS SO YOU CAN PUT EMPTY CANS IN THE COOLER AND TAKE AWAY.

11: LIABILITIES:
1: The Buzzards Bay Mens Softball league, and the Town of Bourne, are not responsible for ANY injuries that may occur to players before, during, and after games. This includes fans that are watching near, or around dugouts. Make sure they are aware at all times. Children in the playground must be accompanied by an adult at ALL times, and again be aware at all times.
