The dates and locations for the 2022 East Region Knothole Umpire Training Clinics have been announced. Details are included in the flyer below. For 2022, Bethel Diamond Sports will be reimbursing the fee for this class to umpires who successfully complete the training AND umpire at least 5 knothole games at Bethel. This is a slight change from past years. Baseball umpires over the age of 16 as of April 30, should contact Dan Jeffers at djeffersjr@yahoo.com before assuming they do not need to for this year. 2021 SOSLI Softball Umpire Clinic
SOSLI will be hosting Umpire Training Clinics in three locations this season:
Sunday, March 14th 1:00pm at Georgetown
Saturday, April 3rd at Williamburg or New Richmond
SOSLI will be training umpires for 2021, providing them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to call a game. The four-hour clinic will focus on rules, calling the game, and in-game situations. Participants will need to pass an open-book, multiple choice test at the conclusion of the training. Upon completion of the course, participants will be permitted to umpire softball games throughout the Southern Ohio Softball League. Pre-register online at SouthernOhioSoftball.com. Please arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the start of the clinic if registering in-person.
Our districts are always in need of good umpires and would like to see more adults get involved as well.
The cost of the Umpire Clinic is $20. This includes training, umpire card, SOSLI rule book, umpire indicator/clicker and SOSLI umpire shirt. There is no cost to returning umpires that have last year's rule book and shirt. Most softball districts pay $20-$35 per game depending on age group they umpire. Please contact your district rep with any questions.
Softball Umpire Age Requirements
U5-U9 age divisions, umpire must be at least 13 years old.
U10-12 age divisions, umpire must be at least 14 years old.
U14 age division, umpire must be at least 16 years old.
