Rebels Scholarship

Each year it is our goal to give a cash scholarship to a previous Rochester running Rebels Athlete that attends a college, maintains a C or better average, participate in a NCAA Division I, II, OR III track program, also assist in the teaching and development of our youth program. Last year Doriean Broady graduate of Wilson Commencement High School, and Student Athlete at Howard University was our first recipient of the scholarship.

2011 Running Rebels Scholarship

This year's 2011 Scholarship has been awarded to Doriean Broady. She graduated last year from Wilson Magnet HS. She attended Howard University soon after. Doriean ran with the Rebels this year despite being a College athlete because she met the USATF eligibility to compete as a young women. She ran the 400M dash, 400M Hurdles, also ran some 800M races. She also supported the young women in the 4x100 & 4x400 relays. Doriean also offered some very sound advice to her teammates that are transitioning to college this fall. She spoke about NCAA Clearinghouse and edibility, she also spoke about academics, scholarships, and anything related to college. Doriean offered a great deal of knowledge to all her teammates which she supported throughout the summer. We strongly felt that these offering were truly needed for our kids and made her eligible to receive this our first Rochester Running Rebels Scholarship. She intend on returning to the Rebels next year to coach, and assist the organization in it growth and development.
