Microball Goals and Expectations
The goal of the Micro basketball program (Microball) is to expose children to the game of basketball at a very early age-4 to 6years old. The learning goals after 10 to 13 weeks for this program are:
- Players will learn basic defensive footwork
- Players will learn and then practice to catch the ball
- Players will be able to achieve 30 dribbles with the right hand and 30 dribbles with the left hand
- Players will learn proper shooting form and will learn to do a basic two step lay up
- Players will learn to play defence without hitting other players
- Returning Players will also star to develop a sense of court awareness and sharing
Children learn at different rates so parents are encouraged to be patient. Repetition through the program is a great teaching tool. Our methodology guarantees that your children will be staying healthy and active while learning the basics of the sport of basketball.
Our hope is that parents allow us to move players to the next level based on readiness. After Microball at age 7, players are ready to move into our Smallball program. The ultimate goal is to have players who have been playing from age 4 to 8, to play on our Novice U10 Rep Team.
