Selection Process

Exeter Babe Ruth League is proud to be able to bring together youth players to play baseball during the regular season. We are also fortunate to be able to put together a Tournament team for the three specific age groups of 13, 14, & 15* (*or 13-15). These teams are created with the population of players from all of the participating towns associated with Exeter Babe Ruth League.

The teams are created with the assistance of volunteer coaches. These coaches will design their team based on a single or double day tryout period by invite only. These players that are invited are invited based on their regular season's head coach's recommendation and performance. Those that are invited are considered to meet the minimum standards to qualify and those qualifications can be found in the Babe Ruth Rulebook.

Those that are nominated are required to accept the additional time that will be necessary to participate in the tournaments as they are outlined before the tryouts. The additional time that is necessary to put the team together for practices and tournament schedule requirements is a very important decision for players and their families to make. If a family or player is unable to meet the requirements, they are encourage to respectfully decline the nomination and allow others to participate.

In addition to the time requirements of being on a tournament team, there are additional costs. EBRL does not increase its Town fees for playing in the regular season and does not have a tournament team sponsor. The costs associated with these tournament teams are funded only with the additional fees from each player/family. Uniforms, baseballs and tournament fees are costs that each player/family will need to support if they choose to be a part of the team. As each player's team advances, a new tournament fee may be needed. This has been, in the past, about $50.00 per player and $75.00 if a player and coach are on the team. 

Based on the 2015 schedule for Babe Ruth Tournaments, the below dates must be committed to.

July 7-14 / Districts 

July 17-22 / NH State Tournament

July 25th Start / Regional Tournaments*

August 13-22 / World Series**

* Regional Dates are Subject to move based on host town. More specific information will be updated as we get closer to the dates.

** Depending on Age group, different start and ending dates may apply but will fall between the above dates.

In addition to the above commitments, the need to travel may be needed. Districts and States are held within NH. Regional's will be in any of the New England States and the World Series will be held somewhere in the US. All of the World Series locations will be posted on the Babe Ruth International Website (www.baberuthonline.com) and will be at different locations based on the specific age group.

Team Composition:

The team can be comprised of 12-15 players per team

The teams can have up to two coaches and one manager

Playing Time:

There is no Minimum playing time.

If a volunteer coach is not assigned to a team, there will be no team created for that specific age group(s).
