Westwood Park Improvement GoFundMe Fundraiser

Many great things have happened for NBO Baseball Club. Our summer baseball program included HS, 19u and college teams with a roster of over 70 players! Again, an extremely strong sign that we are moving forward very well.

NBO's growth is wonderful and exciting, but to encourage future growth and good baseball and softball, our Westwood Park needs some major improvements to be able to sustain our program and growth. Here are the things that we had envisioned that are necessary for our program. Our GoFundMe account is still active and we'd love to see you all contribute in any way that you guys can.

Please come by and check out what we are trying to do. Remember, the Sunrise Recreation and Park District does NOT, repeat, DOES NOT maintain the infield (dirt/sprinkler system), dugouts, score booth, score board, or snack bar!!! NBO Baseball Club is responsible for them.

 Problem with account did not allow updates! All issues are now fixed and payment updates can continue. Thank you all for contributing, supporting and volunteering! Anything and everything is much appreciated.

 NBO Baseball Club has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help generate funding to renovate Westwood Park baseball field and surrounding areas. The idea is to garner enough donations and to keep everyone up-to-date on changes that the monies raised have accomplished. We would like to meet a $5k beginning, but with what is planned, additional funding will be necessary; anything HELPS!!

The vision for upgrades are:

Turf the infield (grass or turf) - ASAP

New dugouts (safer and cooler)

New LED lights to replace last remaining Halogen lights (18)

New fence backdrops

Change backstop from overhang to straight back

Increase security lighting

Our backstop score booth needs a face lift and upgrade. Electrical and sound system upgrades. We'd love to upgrade our score board and controller system to be used for more games and events. We need a new scoreboard and controller system!

Many have requested that we redo the infield and include grass, that can't happen due to high clay amounts and the need to shutdown the facility to redo completely. This impacts football and other uses throughout the year. The best bet is to continue to purchase turf and install it on the perimeters and only have a dirt infield diamond with turn between 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd. This would contain the water hols and make the field almost year-round accessible. It does need a new drainage system, to eliminate erosion and mud accumulation. The field requires a scaling of the 90 ft radius and work in. New infield mix and the proper treatment for drainage and extended use is necessary. It would be preferable to bring in a company that can do the landscaping and development.

NBO Baseball and Softball currently owns 1 ATEC Casey pitching machine, 1 JUGS single wheel machine, 1 JUGS lite flight machine, and 1 ATEC short toss machine. We have assorted nets, tees, soft toss manual machines, bases for baseball and other assorted training devices, along with baseballs and softballs.

We definitely need to redesign our dugouts for space and efficiency.

These things are totally important to the program and the growth potential that we are experiencing and expecting. We welcome ideas, thoughts and help in any way that brings this program to the forefront.
