Steve Grote threw a five-hit shutout to lead Central past Proctor 6-0 in District 26 play. He got all the runs he needed in the second when Troy scored twice on a walk to Scott Lord and consecutive singles by Joe Edwards, Steve Greenfield and Grote.
The Trojans, who will meet defending district champ Cloquet Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Wade Stadium in the quarterfinals, wrapped it up in the third with four runs on five straight singles -- by Bob Miller, Bill Herrick, Howie Vincent, Lord and Lee Kolquist.
