Information for Practices
Monday July 28th is the first official practice at Taylor Field in Shirley! Kicking off to a fantastic season!
While practices are outside, parents are welcomed to stay and watch. Please be mindful of distractions.
After September 2nd, we move indoors. Practices are closed to ensure safety and security and to prevent distraction. Open practices will be announced.
ASYFC has access to two sets of cheerleading mats. Teams will practice in various locations including Ayer-Shirley Regional High School and Lura A. White.
10u, 12u, 13u Bronco cheer teams’ practice four days a week in the summer for 2.5 hours. Once indoors, teams practice 3 days a week for 2.5 hours.
Mitey Mite Broncos practice two days a week both summer and during school.
With having four cheerleading teams, times and locations may be inconsistent. Coaches reserve the right to call, cancel or change practices without 24 hour notice. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Each team will have car pool lists for parents to utilize for transportation needs. It’s important to arrange transportation well enough in advance for practices, games and competitions. Coaches are NOT responsible for transportation.
Always bring a water bottle. While outdoors you may consider bringing more than one. A healthy snack is permitted.
Practice Attire and Expectations:
- Shorts, capris, normal fit sweatpants, spandex, t-shirts, 1” strap tank tops are acceptable.
- Wind/nylon pants, loose pajama/sweat pants, spaghetti strap tank tops, dresses, bathing suites, skirts, shirts showing mid drifts, jeans and clothing with zippers are prohibited.
- Good support sneakers and socks are to be worn at all times. Laces need to be double knotted.
- Shoes that have distinct toe outlines and skater shoes are prohibited.
- If you have previous season cheer shoes that are not being worn for the present season, you may wear them to outdoor practices.
- Once in doors, your current season cheer shoes should be brought to practice to change into.
- All jewelry is prohibited unless medically approved.
- Nails must be cut.
- Nail polish is approved for practices but must be removed for games and competitions.
- When we are outside, cheerleaders may apply oil free bug spray and/or oil free sunscreen if desired.
- Hair must be pulled back in a tight pony tail or equivalent. Must be off face and away from shoulders.
- Hair color must be within normal shades by Jamboree.
