As a football player, you study tape, build camaraderie with your teammates, lift weights to build strength, perfect your skills and it’s all to prepare to be the best on game day. It’s a process.                                                                                                                     

    Recruitment is similar. Every day you work towards reaching the goal of a roster spot on a collegiate football program. It starts with putting together a game plan. Below is your football recruiting timeline. See Where YOU Stand.

Freshmen Year: Research. Exposure.

·         Work toward min. 3.0 GPA and work toward practicing with the 1’S

·         Create your NLR profile and work with your NLR Recruiter to create a list of 50 prospective schools (Each week research 2-3 schools)

·         Have a phone call / email marketing campaign in place. (Through the NLR network of over 12,000 College Coaches )

·         Fill out questionnaires received in the mail and send them back right away

·         Try to go on at least 3 unofficial visits

·         Confirm your level of recruiting activity. Highly Recruited – Not Recruited (See are you being recruited) on our website.

Sophomore Year: Relationships. Film Footage.

·         Schedule unofficial visits to programs

·         Continue to work toward min. 3.0 GPA and work toward practicing with the 1’S

·         Hone in on the schools you’re most interested in from your list of 50

·         Continue to work with your Coach and your Next Level Recruiter.

·         Make highlight footage (NLR Produced)

·         Confirm your level of recruiting activity. Highly Recruited – Not Recruited (See are you being recruited) on our website.

Tips from the Expert:

·         DI and DII coaches can’t personally contact you, but NLR can contact them by sending letters and emails.

·         DIII and NAIA coaches can contact you, when they do, stay in touch and build the relationship!

·         High level DI will make offers during summer of your sophomore year

Junior Year: 5-5-5 List. Highlights. Proactive Ath-leader.

·         Develop a 5-5-5 List: 5 programs that may be slightly above your reach, 5 programs that are a good fit, 5 back up schools

·         Next Level recruiting will continue to follow-up with coaches with phone calls/email/letters and where you stand on their list of recruits

·         Attend combines, camps and one-day college-sponsored camp.

·         Update highlight footage tape (NLR Produced)

·         Confirm your level of recruiting activity. Highly Recruited – Not Recruited (See are you being recruited) on our website.

If you haven’t heard from DI coaches, have Next Level Recruiting reach out to DII, DIII or NJCAA and NAIA programs

Senior Year: Committing to Success athletically and academically.

·         Follow-up with coaches and schedule official visits (only 5 total official visits to DI and DII schools)

·         Start your financial aid planning, register for FAFSA (fafsa.ed.gov) as soon as January 1 (NLR assisted)

·         Officially commit to a program (Signing Day is first Wednesday in Feb. through April 1)

·         Find out when you need to report to camp

·         Update highlight footage tape (NLR Produced)

Important Tips 

·         DI coaches can start calling on a weekly basis on Sept. 1^st, 

·        National Signing Date

Prospective Student-Athletes Signing 2018-19 and Enrolling 2019-20

·      DII, DIII, NAIA schools begin to round out their recruiting selections and make offers Starting the conclusion of their seasons (Late November timeframe)
