Bulldogs Sweep Panthers
Facing a Wallington squad mixed with Pee Wees, the Rutherford Bulldog Mighty Mites (6-7 year olds) battled fearlessly and remained unbeaten on the season. The Bulldogs struck first when Kiaan Kachhadiya burst through the line on a wishbone halfback dive and blazed 50 yards for his first touchdown of the season. Quarterback Kaiser Day and Vinny Oszmanski were a force, driving the ball downfield and absorbing big hits with tenacity. In the opening quarter, Vincent Fuccilli pounced on a loose ball to set up Rutherford’s first offensive series, and later Kaiser Day powered in the equalizer to tie the game. Clutch moments kept coming: James Schmeding notched his first big runs of the season, Vinny Oszmanski and Sean Ryan each hauled in receptions, and on the game’s final play Day chased down a Wallington back after an 80-yard breakaway—making the tackle at the 5-yard line as time expired to save a touchdown.
In the trenches, Bryson Wilson anchored the offense at center and clogged lanes at defensive tackle. Paul Rood was under the weather, and the team looks forward to having him back at full strength. Matias Leon turned in a rugged, physical game on defense, while Jordan Antiorio delivered two key backfield blocks and joined the pile on multiple stops at linebacker. On the edges, defensive ends Sean Ryan and James Schmeding racked up tackles all game. Linebacker Cameron Hennie patrolled the second level with several solo stops, while corners Kaiser Day and Kiaan Kachhadiya locked down outside runs. Over the top, Finn Innis playing safety and tight end, threw a statement block on a player nearly twice his size, and Tommy Rose matched the feat with his own emphatic block. Stephen Rusignuolo provided steady coverage at safety as well as linebacker, and Bradley Rocha contributed strong snaps on both sides of the ball.
The Bulldogs also rallied around John Rocco Della Fave, still sidelined but expected back this week. After a tough loss the week prior, the Rutherford Peewee Bulldogs (8-9 year olds) came out determined to make a statement and they did just that with a dominant performance over the Wallington Panthers. The Bulldogs (3-2) wasted no time getting on the board, as David Zurla took the opening kickoff all the way to the end zone for a touchdown, running behind great blocking from Vincent Centrella, Jameson Bohn, Cubby Byrne, Dominic Williams, Jeremiah Roman, Emmet Bohan, and Gianluca Caroprese. Momentum stayed on Rutherford’s side when Tommy LaGreca recovered the ensuing kickoff, setting the Bulldogs’ offense up with excellent field position. Quarterback Emmet Bohan led the charge on offense, operating behind a powerful offensive line featuring Roman, Centrella, Byrne, Marcelo DeBari, Luke Ruffins, Bohn, and Dean Dellafave. The line paved the way for another big play as David Zurla broke free for a 30-yard touchdown run to extend the Bulldogs’ lead. The kickoff unit once again showed their hustle and awareness, with Dominic Williams pouncing on a loose ball to give Rutherford yet another possession. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on, and this time Gregory Fletcher capped off another drive with a touchdown run. At that point, the Bulldogs’ dominant play proved too much, and the Panthers concluded their participation before the start of the second quarter. To make the most of the day, the Pee Wee Bulldogs turned the remaining time into an exciting intrasquad scrimmage, showcasing depth, teamwork, and effort across the roster. Dominic Williams continued to impress with several big plays, while Declan Barry, Charlie Olivo, Xavion Evans, Drew Bucey, Phoenix Blackwell, and Joel Velasquez all stood out with strong blocking and tackling. The RJF&C Juniors (10-11 year olds) were on a bye week. The Juniors (5-0) will be back in action next Saturday versus rival Lyndhurst. The Rutherford Senior Bulldogs (12-13 year olds) got back in the win column with a 28-0 victory over the Wallington Panthers. The Bulldogs (4-1) were in business after three defensive plays when Gavin Nimmo intercepted a Panther pass at their own 15 yard line. Mason Colon got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard when he took a handoff to the left side for the games first score. The extra point attempt failed and Rutherford had a 6-0 lead. After a Panther turnover on downs, the Bulldog offense was right back at it. This time Tyler Griffin hit Nimmo on a 20 yard pass that set the Bulldogs up at the 2 yard line. Ryan Wilton took a handoff and went untouched into the endzone to put Rutherford up 12-0. The extra point kick was successful as Lucas Schmidt put it through the uprights making it 14-0. The Bulldogs were relentless on defense and didn’t give up any ground all game. Leading the way were Jake Barnes, Joey Urgola, Owen Burbank, Brendan O’Rourke, and Chase Kuenzle. They forced another turnover on downs and gave the ball back to the offense. This time the Bulldogs marched down the field and Tyler Griffin ran in a score on a QB keeper. Rutherford was now up 22-0 and it stayed that way as the extra point attempt failed. The final score of the night was a thirty yard touchdown pass from Frankie Wilton to Alejandro Castro who had a breakout game from the TE position. That score sealed the game and gave the Bulldogs the 28-0 victory.
RJF&C Bulldogs Split With Manchester
The Rutherford Bulldog Mighty Mites battled Manchester in a hard-hitting, physical game that showcased grit across the roster. On offense, Bryson Wilson steadied the unit at center, with Paul Rood and Matias Leon bringing muscle up front. Quarterback Kaiser Day was dynamic in the first half—powering in for two touchdowns on keepers and connecting with Vinny Oszmanski on a well-timed screen that Oszmanski turned into a touchdown. Day also found Vinny Oszmanski for another reception that moved the chains for a key first down at the end of the opening drive. Jordan Antiorio sprung two big blocks from the backfield, while Vincent Fuccilli delivered punishing lead blocks at fullback. Tommy Rose sealed edges from tight end with strong blocks, and on the game’s final snap Sean Ryan hauled in a 10-yard reception to cap the night. Defensively, Rutherford’s front was relentless. Cameron Hennie opened at nose guard before a smart halftime adjustment moved him to middle linebacker—he responded with several clutch solo tackles. At defensive tackle, Bryson Wilson and Vincent Fuccilli plugged interior gaps, while defensive ends Sean Ryan (a constant disruptor) and James Schmeding set firm edges. On the perimeter, cornerbacks Kaiser Day and Kiaan Kachhadiya shut down outside runs. Jordan Antiorio and Matias Leon flew to the ball, and the safety duo of Stephen Rusignuolo and Tommy Rose erased would-be big plays. Bradley Rocha logged valuable snaps at end, and Finn Innis started at linebacker before shifting to safety to steady the back line. The Bulldogs continued to rally around teammate John Rocco Della Fave, who remained injured but supported the squad from the sideline. The Rutherford Bulldog Peewees (8-9 year olds) were on the road this weekend, taking on a tough Manchester Falcons team. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Bulldogs came up short, falling 27–6 and moving to 2–2 on the season. The first half was competitive, with Rutherford’s offense moving the ball well behind the leadership of quarterback Emmet Bohan, who guided the Bulldogs into the red zone multiple times. However, the Bulldogs were unable to finish drives, and the Falcons capitalized on a few big plays to take a 13–0 lead into halftime. Coming out of the break, the Bulldogs showed fight and energy. On Manchester’s first offensive play of the second half, the defense forced a fumble and recovered it. Led by Tommy LaGreca, Leo Puglisi, Luke Ruffins, Cubby Byrne, and Vin Centrella, the defense played with relentless effort throughout the day. The Bulldogs capitalized on the turnover when Bohan connected with Dean Dellafave for a touchdown, cutting the deficit to 13–6. The offensive line—anchored by Marcelo Debari, Centrella, Ruffins, Byrne, and Jameson Bohn—battled hard against a strong Manchester front. Rutherford forced another fumble later in the game but was unable to turn it into points. Despite the final score, the Bulldogs showed heart, toughness, and growth in all phases of the game. The Rutherford Junior Bulldogs (10-11 year olds) faced off against the Manchester Falcons in a battle of 3-0 teams at Manchester. The Bulldogs dominated from the opening kickoff winning 27-6. They only gave up a late game TD, to remain undefeated and in 1st place in the Meadowlands Football League Southern Division. They started their dominance on defense as linebacker Charlie Lagreca forced two Manchester fumbles on their 1st 2 possessions, recovering both. They had many tackles for loss and a few sacks. On offense, they wore the Falcon's defense down with punishing runs and timely passes all game. The offensive line of the bulldogs, featuring Kevin Farrell, Jackson Condon, Harrison Byrne, James Connallon, and Harry Adams along with Tight Ends Luca Ventura and Brendan Caughey used quickness, technique, and teamwork to consistently open up holes against the bigger, stronger Falcons defensive line. They started the game with a 12 play drive and a 6 play drive before turning the ball over on downs. They then scored on their 3rd drive with a 2 yard TD plunge by Kevin Calabrese. They also scored on their next 2 drives. The 1st was a pass from quarterback Wyatt Bohn to Charlie Lagreca and the 2nd came with 8 seconds left in the 1st half with another pass from Wyatt Bohn, this time he connected with tight end Brendan Caughey. Caughey also kicked 1 extra point and had another extra point run on a broken play. The Bulldogs took a 19-0 lead at the half against the previously un-scored upon Falcons. After they fumbled on their opening drive of the second half, they got the ball right back and continued their dominance by scoring again for their final time. This time it was Luke Barnes with a hard downhill TD run. To closeout the game, Kevin Calabrese recovered an onside kick and the bulldogs ran out the clock to get the win. The Rutherford Senior Bulldogs (12-13 year olds) lost a hard fought game by a score of 20-6. Both teams were undefeated coming into the game, but Manchester was able to take home the win. The game started off in Rutherfords (3-1) favor when they recovered an inside kick, but they would turn it over on downs six plays later. Manchester was able to run in two scores of their own and took a 13-0 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs had plenty of chances to score in the first half, but came up short every time. Rutherford received the second half kickoff and once again turned it over on downs. Manchester ran in one more score and started to really pull away from the Bulldogs. Rutherford wouldn’t go away without a fight and finally got on the board when Ryan Wilton hit Mason Colon on an out route and Colon did the rest. He took it sixty yards down the sideline to the house to pull the Bulldogs within fourteen points. The extra point was unsuccessful and the score would remain 20-6. After a few back-and-forth drives Manchester was finally able to run out the clock for the victory. The RJF&C program will be home versus Wallington next Saturday.
Bulldogs Sweep Patriots
The Rutherford Bulldog Mighty Mites (7 year olds) delivered a gritty, team-first performance against Secaucus at Kane Stadium, with every player stepping up on offense and defense on their way to an 18-0 victory. On offense, Bryson Wilson handled the snaps at center while linemen Sean Ryan and Matias Leon powered the trenches to open lanes. Quarterback Kaiser Day guided the huddle, mixed in timely keepers, and fired a big completion to Sean Ryan to move the chains. Touchdowns came from Vinny Oszmanski, Vincent Fuccilli, and Tommy Rose. Jordan Antiorio ripped off several key runs, and Finn Innis muscled out a clutch first down that set the stage for the night’s signature moment—Tommy Rose’s epic score: breaking the first tackle, cutting back into space, and sprinting through a wall of would-be tacklers as teammates roared him across the goal line. Defensively, the Bulldogs mirrored last week’s assignments and intensity. Cameron Hennie was a force at nose guard, living in the backfield with disruptive penetration. At defensive end, James Schmeding and Sean Ryan contained the edges, while cornerbacks Kaiser Day and Kiaan Kachhadiya sealed the perimeter. Linebackers Bradley Rocha, Stephen Rusignuolo, Jordan Antiorio, and Vinny Oszmanski clogged the middle and finished tackles. Over the top, safeties Finn Innis, Tommy Rose, and Paul Rood denied big plays. The Bulldogs also rallied around teammate John Rocco Della Fave, who was sidelined by injury but supported the squad from the sideline. The Pee Wee Bulldogs (8-8 year olds) hit the road once again this weekend, taking on the always-tough Secaucus Patriots. From the opening whistle, the Bulldogs set the tone with a ferocious defense that smothered the Patriots’ offense, holding them to minimal yardage and never allowing momentum to swing their way. On offense, the Bulldogs (2-1) leaned on a powerful ground attack led by the explosive running of Tommy LaGreca, with key contributions from Gregory Fletcher, Leo Puglisi, and David Zurla. The Dogs struck first when LaGreca blasted through the middle of the defense for a touchdown, giving Rutherford an early 6–0 lead. The success of the rushing attack was made possible by outstanding work in the trenches from the offensive line—Vin Centrella, Jeremiah Roman, Marcelo Debari, Dominic Williams, Dean DellaFave, Cubby Byrne, Luke Ruffins, and Jameson Bohn—who opened lanes all afternoon. Heading into halftime, the Bulldogs held a hard-fought 6–0 lead over a talented and dangerous Patriots squad. The second half, however, belonged entirely to the Bulldogs. The defense came out firing, forcing a quick punt to set the tone. Backed up near their own end zone, LaGreca delivered the highlight of the day—a breathtaking 76-yard touchdown run that electrified the sidelines and pushed the lead to 12–0. That score seemed to deflate Secaucus, and the Bulldogs pounced on the momentum. On the ensuing kickoff, Rutherford recovered the ball and went right back to work. The Dogs marched downfield and capped off the drive with a tough 25-yard touchdown run by Zurla, who then powered in the one-point conversion to extend the lead to 19–0. The defensive effort was nothing short of sensational. The linebacking corps of LaGreca, Gianluca Caroprese, Bohn, Fletcher, and DellaFave clogged every rushing lane, while the secondary duo of Leo Puglisi and Emmett Bohan locked down the air attack, leaving the Patriots with no answers. In the fourth quarter, Rutherford refused to let up. A relentless defensive push from Tiago Serra, Charlie Olivo, Drew Bucey, Joel Velasquez, Xavion Evans, Declan Barry, and Phoenix Blackwell kept Secaucus off the board and repeatedly gave the offense excellent field position. A powerful run from Dominic Williams set up the final score of the game, as Billy Cunningham dashed to the pylon for another touchdown to seal the dominant victory. The Rutherford Junior Bulldogs (10-11 year olds) successfully navigated their road test against a Southern Division rival, defeating the Secaucus Patriots 28-6 at Kane Stadium to move to a perfect 3-0 on the season. Though the Bulldogs ultimately prevailed with a commanding victory, the Patriots opened the scoring in the first quarter, quickly challenging the visiting team. Rutherford answered immediately, showcasing their potent ground game as they tied the score on a blazing 44-yard sweep run around the left side by Charlie Lagreca. A successful two-point conversion by Brendan Caughey put the Bulldogs slightly ahead, leading 8-6, a score that held through a back-and-forth first half. The second half, however, belonged entirely to Rutherford. The Bulldogs emerged from the locker room focused and disciplined, scoring on their first two drives with explosive runs. Running back Luke Barnes continued his dominant season with touchdown runs of 24 and 64 yards, breaking the game open and giving Rutherford a comfortable lead. The defense was the story of the night, proving to be utterly relentless against the Patriots' offense. The defensive line featuring Jackson Condon, Harry Adams, Harrison Byrne, Luca Ventura, and Brendan Caughey terrorized the Secaucus quarterback with multiple sacks. Behind them, the linebacking corps of Luke Barnes, Kevin Calabrese, and Charlie Lagreca, along with the secondary of Archer Modica, Mark Gordon, and Desmond Fabiano, completely shut down the Patriots' passing game. The defense capped off their stellar performance with two crucial interceptions: one by Charlie Lagreca and the final pick by Mark Gordon to close out the game. Rutherford closed out their scoring at the end of the third quarter with a touchdown run by Charlie Lagreca. Quarterback Wyatt Bohn also added balance to the attack, completing several sharp passes to tight ends Luca Ventura and Brendan Caughey. The Rutherford Senior Bulldogs (12-14 year olds) continued their winning ways after defeating the Secaucus Patriots 40-0. The Bulldogs wasted no time as they received the opening kickoff and Mason Colon took it down to the Secaucus 10 yard line. Tyler Griffin punched it in two plays later and gave Rutherford a 6-0 lead. Lucas Schmidt converted the extra point kick to make the score 8-0. Rutherford (3-0) forced a fumble on their first defensive play and scored a few plays later when Ryan Wilton found Colon for a 30 yard catch and run. Schmidt’s extra point attempt was good and gave the Bulldogs a 16-0 lead. Rutherford then recovered an onside kick and scored one play later when Griffin took a handoff 40 yards to the house. Schmidt’s extra point attempt was successful giving the Bulldogs a 24-0 lead. The Bulldogs kicked off and recovered another onside kick giving them great field position. This possession ended with another touchdown catch from Colon, but this time Frankie Wilton was behind center for the touchdown pass. Schmidt stayed hot and converted the extra point kick to give Rutherford a 32-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. After forcing Secaucus into a turnover on downs the Bulldogs went back to work on offense. Jake Barnes caught a hard earned touchdown pass from Wilton after breaking three tackles and diving across the goal line. Schmidt’s kick was successful and gave the Bulldogs a 40-0 lead and sealed the victory. The Bulldogs will be in Manchester next weekend.
The Rutherford Senior Bulldogs (12-14 year olds) continued their winning ways with a 14-6 victory over the North Arlington Vikings. Most of the action in this game came in the first quarter with North Arlington getting on the board first with a 40 yard touchdown run from the QB. The extra point attempt was no good giving the Vikings a 6-0 lead. The Bulldogs (2-0) took the kickoff deep in their own territory, but Mason Colon took it to the house for his first touchdown of the season. The extra point attempt was no good and we were all tied up at 6-6. The teams took turns turning the ball over on downs in the second quarter until Rutherford was able to punch in another score when Ryan Wilton ran it in from five yards out. Lucas Schmidt converted the extra point kick and that made the score 14-6. The Bulldog defense played great with a bend don’t break attitude and were led by Tyler Griffin, Ryan Wilton, Gavin Nimmo, Joey Urgola, Schmidt, Owen Byrne, Jake Barnes, Mason Colon, Frankie Wilton, Chase Kuenzle, and Brendan O’Rourke. Chase Kuenzle forced and recovered a fumble with four minutes to go in the game to end North Arlington’s chances of coming back to tie the game. The Bulldogs were able to run out the clock and seal their second victory of the season. The Rutherford Junior Bulldogs (10-11 year olds) put on a clinic at Tryon Field Saturday night, delivering a crushing 38-0 shutout victory over the North Arlington Vikings to improve their record to 2-0 on the season. The Bulldogs wasted no time establishing control, scoring two touchdowns in the first four minutes of the game and never looking back. The offensive line, a powerful unit consisting of Kevin Farrell, Harrison Byrne, Jackson Condon, James Connallon and Harry Adams, opened up massive running lanes all night, allowing the Bulldogs' offense to move the ball at will. The ground game was particularly effective, with Rutherford running for an impressive five touchdowns. Luke Barnes was a standout, scoring twice on runs of 15 and 29 yards. Barnes also made a key special teams play, recovering a well-executed onside kick. The Bulldogs’ backfield depth was on full display with touchdowns from Kevin Calabrese (11 yards), Mark Gordon (25 yards) and Charlie Lagreca (16 yards). Kicker Brendan Caughey was nearly perfect, converting four of his five extra-point attempts. While the offense put up points in bunches, the Bulldogs' defense was arguably the star of the show. The unit was relentless, holding the North Arlington offense to negative total yardage for the entire game. Their dominance ensured the Vikings never posed a threat, allowing the Bulldogs to cruise to victory.
After a tough Week 1 loss, the Rutherford Pee Wee Bulldogs (8-9 year olds) came back home ready to make a statement against the North Arlington Vikings—and they did just that. The Bulldogs’ offensive line, anchored by Vincent Centrella, Kevin Byrne, Jeremiah Roman, Luke Ruffins, Jameson Bohn, Dean Dellafave, Tiago Serra, and Declan Barry, set the tone early with powerful blocking that opened lanes for the running backs. On the opening drive, David Zurla broke free for two big gains before quarterback Emmet Bohan capped it off with a touchdown run to put Rutherford on the board. The Bulldogs’ defense was relentless all game long, holding the Vikings to little or no yards. Linebackers Gregory Fletcher, Jameson Bohn, and Tommy Lagreca, along with defensive linemen Vincent Centrella and Jeremiah Roman, controlled the line of scrimmage and never let North Arlington find a rhythm. Midway through the second quarter, Tommy Lagreca powered his way into the end zone, extending the lead to 14–0 heading into halftime. The second half picked up right where the first left off. The Bulldogs defense shut down the Vikings’ opening drive, and the offense went back to work on the ground, dominating possession. The drive was finished off by a hard-nosed rushing touchdown from David Zurla to seal a 20–0 victory. The Bulldogs came out strong, played tough in all phases of the game, and walked away with an important bounce-back win. The Rutherford Mighty Mites (7 year olds) and Pee Wees (8 year olds) faced off in the town's Blue/White game on Saturday. Both teams played extremely hard in what was a very competitive and tight contest until late when the White team pulled away. The Blue squad was led offensively by the backfield of John Rocco DellaFave, Vinny Oszmanski, and Vincent Fuccilli who all moved the chains consistently throughout the day. Commanding the offense as always was quarterback Kaiser Day who along with Oszmanski scored touchdowns for the Blue Squad. The Peewee Dogs, led by Gianluca Caroprese, came ready to play. Caroprese sparked the offense with a big run, powering the white team down the field and into the end zone for the game’s opening score. On the defensive side, the Peewee Dogs showed grit and toughness, keeping the game close with several key stops. The defensive effort was anchored by Drew Bucey, Phoenix Blackwell, Xavion Evans, Joel Velasquez, Billy Cunningham, and Caroprese, who all played with relentless energy. Back on offense, the Pee Weeground game continued to shine. Behind strong blocking from an offensive line led by Marcelo Debari, both Xavion Evans and Billy Cunningham ripped off several big runs, capping off another scoring drive for the Peewee Dogs. Defensively the Mites fought throughout the day with great push up front with the Dline of Bryson Wilson, Sean Ryan, James Schmeding and Matias Leon who consistently made life difficult for the White Squad on the ground. Secondary was patrolled by Finn Innis and Kiaan Kachhadiya while Jordan Antiorio flew around making numerous tackles from the Linebacker position. Fellow Mites Tommy Rose, Stephen Rusignuolo, Bradley Rocha, and Paul Rood joined the on the fun. The RJF&C program will be on the road Saturday against divisional foe Secaucus.

RJF&C Bulldogs Earn Wins in HHeights
The Rutherford Jr Football & Cheering Mighty Mites (7 year olds) delivered a complete team effort this weekend, coming out on top with contributions up and down the roster. On offense, Bryson Wilson anchored the line at center, while Matias Leon battled in the trenches and Sean Ryan was outstanding at offensive guard. Quarterback Kaiser Day guided the attack with a touchdown, several long keepers, and a few great passes. The backfield of Vinny Oszmanski, Vincent Fuccilli and John Rocco Della Fave kept the chains moving. Oszmanski punched in a score, Fuccilli delivered key lead blocks and Della Fave reached the end zone twice including an electrifying scoop-and-score after a defensive takeaway. The defense set the tone early. At nose guard, Cameron Hennie lived in the backfield with a slew of solo tackles. Defensive ends James Schmeding and Sean Ryan set the edge all game, while cornerbacks Kaiser Day and Kiaan Kachhadiya locked down the perimeter. Linebackers Finn Innis, Jordan Antiorio, John Rocco, Della Fave, and Vinny Oszmanski clogged the middle and shut down inside runs. Over the top, safeties Bradley Rocha, Stephen Rusignuolo, Tommy Rose, and Paul Rood prevented big plays. From line play to skill positions, every player stepped up for an all-team performance the Mighty Mites can build on in the weeks ahead. The Pee Wee Bulldogs (8-9 year olds) opened against the Hasbrouck Hts Aviators. HH struck first in the opening half with a long touchdown run, followed by a successful one-point conversion to take a 7–0 lead. The Bulldogs battled back late in the second quarter when quarterback Emmett Bohan connected with Jameson Bohn for a big passing touchdown. The conversion attempt came up short, but Rutherford cut the deficit to 7–6 heading into halftime. In the second half, the Bulldogs’ defense tightened up, holding Hasbrouck Heights scoreless through much of the third and fourth quarters. However, with under two minutes left in the game, the Aviators broke free for another long touchdown run, extending the lead. The Bulldogs couldn’t answer in the final moments, falling by a final score of 14–6. Despite the loss, Rutherford showed grit on both sides of the ball, especially with their strong defensive effort in the second half. The Rutherford Junior Bulldogs (10-11 year olds) started their 2025 season with a powerful performance, overcoming an early deficit to defeat the Hasbrouck Heights Aviators with a final score of 28-6. The home team got on the board first, with the Aviators finding the end zone on a touchdown run in the first quarter. But the Bulldogs remained poised, and quarterback Wyatt Bohn connected with tight end Brendan Caughey for a crucial touchdown pass in the second quarter. After a successful extra point, Rutherford took a narrow 7-6 lead into halftime. The second half belonged entirely to the Bulldogs. The momentum shifted immediately when Luke Barnes recovered an onside kick, giving Rutherford's offense excellent field position. From that point on, the Bulldogs' defense was relentless. The unit, featuring Jackson Condon, Harry Adams, Harrison Byrne, Luca Ventura, Brendan Caughey, Luke Barnes, Kevin Calabrese, Charlie Lagreca, Archer Modica, Mark Gordon, and Desmond Fabiano completely smothered the Aviators' offense. They limited Hasbrouck Heights to minimal yardage and recovered a key fumble to stop a potential scoring drive. The offense capitalized on the defensive effort, scoring on all three of its second-half possessions. The ground game proved unstoppable, with two powerful touchdown runs by Charlie Lagreca and another score by Kevin Calabrese. The Rutherford Junior Bulldogs now hold a (1-0) record. The Rutherford Senior Bulldogs (12-13 year olds) started their season off with a thrilling 16-14 victory over the Hasbrouck Heights Aviators. The Aviators got on the board first after hitting a long touchdown pass as the first quarter came to an end. The extra point kick was successful. Rutherford’s next possession ended in a turnover on downs. The Aviators went right back to the touchdown play but Frankie Wilton intercepted the pass. The Bulldogs went on a nice drive of their own and Ryan Wilton capped off the drive with a three-yard rushing touchdown. The extra point kick was successful and the score was tied up at 8-8 at halftime. Rutherford received the second half kickoff and kept possession of the ball for the entire third quarter. Tyler Griffin, Gavin Nimmo, Mason Colon and Wilton took turns moving the ball down the field as Joey Urgola, Lucas Schmidt, Owen Byrne, Declan Moran, Austin Villa, Alejandro Castro and Jake Barnes opened the running lanes. The fifteen play drive into the fourth quarter resulted in a touchdown as Griffin hit Wilton on a 15-yard catch and run. The extra point kick was successful to put the Bulldogs up 16-8. Hasbrouck heights was able to put a drive together that resulted in a touchdown and set up a crucial extra point attempt. The kick was short as the Bulldogs were able to apply pressure and keep the lead at 16-14. The Bulldogs recovered the onside kick and were able to run out the clock for the victory. The RJF&C Bulldogs will be at home next Saturday versus visiting NArlington Vikings.

2023 MFL Super Bowl Champions x3!!!
The Rutherford Jr Football & Cheering program made history Saturday night by winning (3) Meadowlands Football League Championships in a dominant fashion. The Rutherford Bulldog Peewees (10-1) played the New Milford Knights (9-2) in Elmwood Park for the MFL Pee Wee Super Bowl. The Dogs (8-9 year olds) started with the ball and Charlie LaGreca scored quickly but the extra point was missed. On the kickoff Luke Barnes recovered the ball after it was fumbled by the Knights. Shortly after that Luke Barnes scored and Charlie LaGreca converted the extra point. New Milford started their first offensive possession but couldn’t get going. On Rutherford’s next possession Luke Barnes scored again and converted the extra point. On the Knights next drive, they were able to move the chains but could not score. Luke Barnes was able to punch in one more for Rutherford right before the half. New Milford started with the ball in the second half but fumbled a snap which was recovered by Harry Adams. The Knights were able to stop Rutherford on their next drive and New Milford scored on their next possession. Rutherford replied with another touchdown by Charlie LaGreca but missed the extra point. The Knights scored again on their next possession. Rutherford ran down the clock to end the game. The game ended with a score of Rutherford 33 - New Milford 13, crowning the Pee Wee Bulldogs Super Bowl Champs. The 2023 Pee Wee Bulldogs: Antonio Rodriguez, Archer Modica, Brandon Byrne, Brendan Caughey, Camden Garripoli, Charlie LaGreca, Daniel D’Agati, Daviel Serra, Desmond Fabiano, Eddie Riser, Harrison Byrne, Harry Adams, Jackson Condon, James Bennett, James Connallon, Jaxon Bennett, Jayson Cuce, John Ahearn, Joseph Ferreira, Kevin Calabrese, Luca Ventura, Luke Barnes, Mark Gordon, Michael Gerbasio, Michael Robertson, Michael Urgola, Parker Garofalo and Wyatt Bohn. On a cold Saturday night in Elmwood Park the Rutherford Junior Bulldogs (10-11 year olds) were crowned the 2023 Meadowlands Football League Super Bowl Champions with a 26-6 win over the New Milford Junior Knights. The Bulldog (11-0) offense led by an offensive line consisting of Declan Moran, Owen Byrne, Joey Urgola, Leo Velez, Mark Goldsack, Owen Burbank, Aidan Kealy, and Gavin Nimmo led the way for quarterback Tyler Griffin and running back Ryan Wilton who each dominated a New Milford (7-4) defense who were unable to stop the run game. Wilton accounted for all of Rutherford's points, breaking off for several long runs throughout the day. Wilton even had an opportunity to show off his arm with a quick pass to tackle Owen Burbank. Griffin ran strong, barreling through the Knights defense on several long runs of his own. And, despite the windy conditions, Griffin managed to complete a long pass to his favorite wide receiver, Chase Kuenzle. Frankie Wilton did an excellent job under center, effectively managing the offense and helping to facilitate Rutherford's dominant one two punch of Wilton and Griffin. The Bulldog defense came to play, only allowing one score to end what was a dominant season. Rutherford linebacker Gavin Nimmo recovered a fumble on New Milford's first offensive possession of the game. Defensive linemen Jake Barnes and Owen Burbank, linebackers Ryan Wilton and Tyler Griffin and corner Mason Colon all played well, making key tackles during the game. The defensive highlight of the day belonged to safety Brendan O'Rourke who tipped a New Milford pass that was ultimately intercepted by corner Chase Kuenzle. Rutherford, led by Head Coach Stephen "Stick" Kuenzle, ends this championship season a perfect 11-0, a fitting ending for a hardworking, well-coached group of young men. In 2018, following a dominant Mighty Mite campaign, the RJF&C class of 2023 collected their first MFL Super Bowl trophy over the Elmwood Park Pee Wee team. Fast forward to their final year in RJF&C as the now Senior Division (12-13 year olds) Bulldogs, and they needed to travel to Elmwood Park to earn their fifth MFL Super Bowl trophy by defeating the (previously unbeaten) Manchester Falcons (10-1). The game started with Manchester receiving the opening kickoff and driving the ball down to the five-yard line. The Bulldogs bent but did not break, as they kept the offense out of the endzone and took over on downs. The Bulldogs then proceeded to take the ball down the field. RB John Gioia, who handled the bulk of the carries in the game, ran the ball down into the redzone. QB Quinn Weber then hit WR Jojo Marullo on a quick out route for the first score of the night. The Bulldogs defense led by S Will Holman, DE Jack Williams, NG Vin Urgola, DT Chase Martini, and DT Fynn Byrne forced another turnover on downs to put the football back in the hands of Weber. He wasted no time as he found Holman down the sideline, who straight armed his way into the endzone. The Bulldogs continued the aerial assault as Marullo was hit two more times by Weber, the last saw Jojo straight arm a Falcon into the turf enroute to the endzone. RB Zach Snyder followed his line and picked up some key first downs. Gioia ended the game by trucking his way into the endzone behind Martini, Williams and Snyder. The final score enacted the mercy rule early in the fourth quarter to solidify the trifecta for the Rutherford Bulldogs. The coaching staff of Dennis Davis, Jon Martini, Zach Gryskiewicz, Vin Urgola, Nick Ippolito, and HC Russ Snyder couldn’t be prouder of their team that finished their RJF career 60-3 with five championship trophies. As well as the play on the field was, the cheerleaders half time show was flawless. The Bulldogs collectively put on one great show winning (3) MFL Championships. What a great day it was to be a Bulldog!
Super Bowl Champions x2, Again!!!
The RJF&C program has become a dynasty, earning six championships in the last three years, seven championships in the last four years and 2021 was no different. The Rutherford Pee Wee Bulldogs (8-9 year olds) capped off their special 2021 season as Super Bowl Champions. After a 12-6 win over the Hasbrouck Heights Aviators in the final game, the Pee Wees finished the season undefeated with a record of 11-0. The Bulldogs won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball in the second half. Both teams were battling back and forth for most of the first half until the Aviators were able to put together a touchdown scoring drive late in the second quarter. Rutherford was able to prevent the extra point which left the score at 6-0. The Bulldogs started their next possession on their own 45 yard line after the kickoff went out of bounds. Rutherford had under 3 minutes remaining in the first half to make something happen. Ryan Wilton, Brendan O’Rourke, and Frankie Wilton did their best to set up Rutherfords first score by taking turns carrying the ball down the field. With eleven seconds left on the clock, Tyler Griffin found Gavin Nimmo wide open for a 25 yard catch and run that tied the game at 6-6. That’s when the momentum started to shift Rutherford’s way. The extra point was stopped and the game was tied at halftime. The Bulldogs received the second half kickoff and traded possessions back and forth with the Aviators until the middle of the fourth quarter. Tyler Griffin and Ryan Wilton took turns taking handoffs from Frankie Wilton as the Bulldogs were able to March down the field. Griffin finished off the drive with a three yard plunge into the endzone to give the Bulldogs a 12-6 lead. The Bulldog defense would bend a little bit but did not break as they were able to limit the high flying Aviator offense to 6 points as Rutherford would ultimately run out the clock to seal their third Pee Wee championship in the last four years. This years champions are Christian Acosta, Michael Anglim, Eric Barbour, Jake Barnes, Owen Burbank, Owen Byrne, Mason Colon, Chris DeHaas, Carter Gagliardo, Mark Goldsack, Tyler Griffin, Ethan Jiminez, Jayden Kennedy, Chase Kuenzle, Declan Moran, Gavin Nimmo, Brendan O’Rourke, Michael Pizza, Robert Prince, Alejandro Samaniego, Ridley Skabla, TJ Sprayberry, Lucas Sullivan, Joey Urgola, Frankie Wilton, Kevin Wilton, and Ryan Wilton. The Bulldogs Junior Bulldogs (10-11 year olds) closed out the season with a 34-0 victory over Manchester to remain undefeated. The defense was impressive all year long, and they did not disappoint on that evening. John Gioia, Eathan DeCarlo, Vincent Daly, and Chase Martini were tough as the defense let up just one first down. The offensive line used their learned technique and heart to beat a bigger Manchester team. Fynn Byrne, Keelan Cannon, Vinny Urgola, Matt Ventura, Logan Bohn, Gioia, and Martini paved the way for Zach Snyder and Will Holman who both had multiple touchdowns. Quinn Weber was clutch at quarterback as found his receivers with ease. The Bulldogs amassed 310 points on the season, and never played a complete game as the mercy rule took effect in every game they played this season. This is the fifth championship in a row for this group of boys who continue to make their coaches and parents proud. The Bulldog program will celebrate their 2021 season Feb 13th at the Fiesta.
RJF&C Bulldogs MFL Super Bowl Champions x2
The Rutherford Senior Bulldogs (12-13 year olds) wanted to prove undoubtedly that they were the top team this year and that is exactly what they did. This past Saturday they secured the Meadowlands Football League Super Bowl title with a 24-0 win over the Hasbrouck Heights Aviators. Nick Lora was a force to be reckoned with having scored the Bulldogs (7-1) four touchdowns. Lora’s scoring plays consisted of runs of 50, 30 twice and 5 yards. Backs George Brewton and Andrew Tralongo did not score touchdowns this weekend, but they were by no means absent from the game. The pair was a considerable part of Rutherford's ruthless rushing attack. Andrew Leffler was pushed into the offensive starting line-up just before game time and did an outstanding job at tight end. The offensive line, Jimmy Queli, Lou Morella, Joe DeMayo, and Antonio DeCarlo deserve mounds of credit for executing the most critical responsibility on the field to a tee. They opened holes all day long for their running backs while giving their quarterback Chris Gioia plenty of time and protection on passing plays. Devin Burgos, Brewton, and Gioia led the game in tackles, which completely shut down Heights running game. With the work of Drew Carney, Marchello Fernandez, and the rest of Rutherford's secondary, the crew shut down Height's passing game. These boys have stuck together and played their game all year long, as a family. They proved at the end of the day why they were the ones with the MFL Super Bowl trophy in their hands. The Rutherford Junior Bulldogs (10-11 year olds) completed their undefeated season with a 28-18 win over previously unbeaten Hasbrouck Heights. The Bulldogs have scored on their opening drive all season and this Saturday was no different. Quarterback Miles Balchan (5-8 passing for 42 yards 2 TDs & 2 rushes for 7 yards) handed off to Will Holman on the fifth play from scrimmage and he then went 40 yards for the first score of the game. The Bulldogs (8-0) then blasted left behind lead blocker Emmett Carney with Holman (28 carries for 157 yards 2 TD) on the extra point from three yards out making the score 7-0. Rutherford’s very next possession saw RB Dmitri Paskas (34 carries for 149 yards 2 TD) plunge into the end zone from 2 yards out. Balchan then hit Paskas in the end zone on a wheel route, from 3 yards out for the extra point. The ensuing onside kick was recovered by Logan Bohn and the lil’ dogs went right back to work, relentlessly pounding the ball behind their dominating offensive line of Andrew Ochojski, Evan Diaz, Vin Urgola, Chase Martini & John Gioia. The offense drove to the 5 before Balchan found Paskas in the end zone again for the third score. The extra point was Paskas off right tackle and behind FB Carney from 3 yards out, making the score 21-12 at half. Rutherford’s defense stymied Heights offense in the second half and DT Diaz caused a fumble which was recovered by Zach Snyder. Balchan found TE Quinn Weber with a 25 yard strike and the Dogs drove to the 7 yard line before throwing an errant interception. The fourth quarter saw Rutherford slow the pace down before Balchan found Holman in the end zone from eight yards out for the fourth score. The Bulldogs then ran the same play for the successful extra point, making the score 28-18. The game ended with Rutherford Juniors in possession of the ball and letting the clock run out. The RJF&C Bulldog program has now won four MFL Super Bowls in the last two years and six in the last four years.

RJF&C Super Bowl Champions 2x
Redemption is what they wanted, and domination is what they delivered. Wearing white jerseys as the second seed in the Meadowlands’ Football League Super Bowl, the Rutherford Pee Wee Bulldogs (8-9 year olds) shut out a strong New Milford team 19-0 to capture the 2019 Pee Wee championship. This is the third time in a row this group has finished the season considered the best team in the league since they were mighty mites in 2017, and then back-to-back Pee Wee titles. To start the game, the Bulldogs wanted the ball early and methodically drove down the field, consuming over eight minutes in the process as Will Holman punched the ball into the end zone on the first drive of the game. The offensive line crushed the spirits of a very good defensive front, who were no match for the collective work of Logan Bohn, Keelan Cannon, Ayden Rivera, Chase Martini, Vinny Urgola, John Gioia, Fynn Byrne, and DJ Gregory. They executed exactly how Coach Russ Snyder had been preaching to them since August 1st to open holes for a gifted backfield of Quinn Weber, JoJo Marullo, Zach Snyder, and Holman. Snyder caught a nice ball from Weber in the flat and raced all the way down to the one yard line, to set up the first Holman touchdown. The offensive play of the day came late in the first half, as Weber evaded New Milfords best player to sail a tight spiral down the right sideline and over the back shoulder of Holman, who squeezed it in as he raced past the goal line for the second time in the half. For a season filled with highlight reel plays, that was one of the coach’s favorite. The whole defense, which was acknowledged at the start of the game as the honorary game captain during the coin toss, lived up to its billing. Adjustments were made by the Bulldogs since the last time these two powerhouses meet, and they paid off. New Milford, who was successful all season against their opponents by running outside and passing to their two playmakers, was unable to find anything against the Bulldogs. Bulldog corner Marullo then came up with an interception and took it to the house for a touchdown, sealing New Milford’s fate. The hard work and conditioning all season long proved to be the recipe for success for these young Bulldogs. They look forward to continuing their success as the majority of the team moves onto the Junior level next year, where they have every intention of continuing their streak of success as the most dominant team in the League. The RJF&C Junior squad (10-11 year olds) played their final game of the season with a disappointing loss to the New Milford Knights. The Rutherford Bulldog Juniors accomplished their pre-season goal of getting to the Meadpwlands Football League Super Bowl but could not bring home the trophy against a stout New Milford team. The Junior squad fought hard all season long and proved their scrappiness by winning the Southern Division and advancing to the Super Bowl as Conference Champions. The offensive backfield and mostly dual role of defensive backs saw Myles Balchan, George Brewton, Dmitri Paskas, Emmett Carney, Matthew Bonagura, Russ Snyder and Christopher Kasperan notch numerous touchdowns throughout the season and fought hard when on the defensive side of the football. Protecting them and opening lanes for them was the offensive line of Angelo Pizza, Evan Diaz, Kellen Caughey, Andrew Ochojski, Troy Waddell, Nicholas Ford, and Vincent DeNunzio. Throughout the season additional players contributed and helped the team advance this deep were Nicholas Gremanis, Rudy Garofalo, Leo Forte, Aidan Sarnowski, Avian Raspaldo, Xander Rodriguez, Jaycub DeCarlo, Jayden Arlauskas, Brandon Mercado, and Nicholas Rodriguez. The Bulldogs Junior squad is proud of what they accomplished by having the opportunity to play in the Super Bowl. The Rutherford Senior Bulldogs (12-13 year olds) capped off their fantastic 11-0 undefeated season with a Super Bowl championship this past Saturday; as the squad defeating the Hasbrouck Heights Aviators 26-0. Cole Goumas started Rutherford off on the perfect note. His two scores were the first points on the board in the game. Goumas' early scoring plays consisted of runs from 15 and then 20 yards out. Matt Schiebe ran in on an extra point after the very first touchdown, and Drew Carney's PAT split the uprights after the second. Drew Carney was also able to make another PAT (2/2) following Jack Daly's 20-yard Touchdown pass to Ryan Ward. Although Devin Burgos and Matt Scheibe did not score touchdowns this weekend, they were by no means absent from the game. The pair was a considerable part of Rutherford's ruthless rushing attack. Louis Morella entered in the third quarter and was a part of the Bulldog's backfield and performed so well this week. Arthur Costan, Owen Fernandez, Dave Rojas and Nick Lora deserve mounds of credit for executing the most critical responsibility on the field to a tee. This offensive-line opened holes all day long for their running backs while giving their quarterback Jack Daily plenty of time and protection on passing plays. Antonio Decarlo entered the game after the first half. He, too, proved himself to be a great blocker from the fullback position. Chris Lora, Diego Gonzales, and Matt Scheibe led the game in tackles, many of which were vital stops. Heights being a passing team, posed a severe threat in the air. With the work of Matteo Correa and Chris Goia along the rest of Rutherford's secondary, the crew shut down Height's passing game for four full quarters. Being a 26-0 victory, it seemed like nothing less than another day at the office for the Bulldogs. The team stuck together and played their game all year long, as a family. The boys cashed in this week with a Super Bowl trophy in their hands. For up to date info, please go to www.leaguelineup.com/rjfbulldogs.

Former RJF&C Player Drafted in the NFL

The Bears have selected Northwestern University defensive end Corey Wootton with their fourth round selection, #109 overall. Here’s his profile from NFL.com.
Corey is an outstanding combination of size and strength for the position. His production is down from previous seasons and much of that can be attributed to a knee injury sustained in the Alamo Bowl at the end of last season. He is a decent athlete but not an explosive player off the edge. His lateral agility and change of direction hinders his playmaking ability in space. Corey does defend the run well and can anchor effectively to hold the point. He utilizes quick hands and long arms to control blockers but needs to expand his pass rush package to be effective at the next level. Wootton’s measurables, instincts and toughness makes him an interesting prospect for most defensive fronts. He wasn’t nearly as effective as previous seasons and knee concerns will be closely scrutinized going into the 2010 Draft.
