Seals Need Home Furnishings For Players!

May 8, 2007
You have likely read our announcement earlier announcing our Foster Player program requesting housing for players coming to play for the Seals from out of town.

Well . . . we had a response . . . big time!

The Seals will house at least six players this year in a home donated by Russ Murphy.  Russ, a San Francisco contractor, has made a 2500 square foot home with two baths and four bedrooms available to Seals players for the Summer.  After that Russ is going to tear it down and replace it.  It ain't pretty but it's livable.

Problem is:  there's nothing in it except for the refrigerator, a gas stove, and now a $50 TV Russ bought for the players at a flea market.

There are no beds, night stands, mattresses, bedding, reading lamps, rugs, plates, forks, pots, or pans.  Forget the dish soap, there's nothing to wash.

The players could use anything you have.

These are guys that come from everywhere to play.   Martin Ogstrup is a Danish goalkeeper who played Division I soccer back home at the Danish highest level.  He's given that up to play soccer for the San Francisco Seals, and instead of getting paid to pay, he has to pay.

Martin will work as a landscaper, if you have work for him, or in a nursery.  This will be his career alternative to "football" once he leaves the game, but he's only 22 years old.  He's got lots ahead of him and he wants to provide some of that career to the Seals....again....for FREE.   What's up with that!!

Are we so famous?  What do we have?  Maybe it's our city.  Maybe it's the history of the club.  Who knows.  We're just glad to have him.

Then there's Danny Warrender:  a year ago, Danny, who is only 20 years old, was the captain of Manchester City's reserve team.  Should I repeat that?  Yes,  Manchester City, you know where Claudio Reyna played and now, Demarcus Beasely hangs his boots in their locker room.  And why should Danny come here?  Who knows, who cares?  We're just lucky to have him.  And we want him to be happy.  That's why Russ has made this soon-to-be demolished Victorian into a home a way from home....

But...there's nothing there.

Please help out.

Whatever you have that can help, let us know by sending an email to sfseals@gmail.com.  You can title it something like "we can help these crazy guys."  Let us know what the items are, where they are, when we can pick them up.  If you can deliver them yourselves, fantastic.  We'll make arrangements to meet you at the house.  If you would like to call, use 415.564.1016.
