Kellan Wilson PDL Player of the Week

May 8, 2008

TAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced today the USL Premier Development League Team of the Week for the third week of the USL season, honoring the San Francisco Seals’ Kellen Wilson as the Player of the Week.

Wilson upstaged his Team of the Week companions by coming off the bench in the 54th minute of a then 2-0 game in favor of the defending Southwest Division Champion Fresno Fuego. The Seals promptly staged a three-goal turnaround and defeated the Fuego 3-2 on their own Chukchansi Park turf.

The tide began to turn on Fresno in the 64th minute when pressure from San Francisco in the Fuego’s defensive third caused the referee to award a penalty kick. The Seals’ Carlos Diaz converted to make it 2-1 Fresno.

Continued pressure in the 80th minute saw Diaz find his way into the scorebook for the second time, this time on an assist to Wilson. And just four minutes later, the Seals took the lead for good on Wilson’s second strike of the evening. That goal was assisted by Stephen Cordova.  (Note: the USL article states incorrectly that the assist was from Fabricio Codeceira).
