Seals players Chris Deal and Dimitry Omprhoy were key figures for the University of California Berkeley in a 3-0 win over the University of San Francisco last week.  Cal, ranked number 9, managed to take the lead in the 35th minute as he knocked in a ball that was deflected by USF keeper Jeremy Coupe on a shot from Cal sophomore Andrew Wiedeman (San Jose Frogs).  Deal led the Bears with four shots, two of which were on goal.

USF came out strong with the first four shots on goal, and finished with eight overall.   Another Seals player playing for USF, Victor Cortez, had the lone USF shot on goal.  Speaking of the quality of the Cal Bears team, USF head coach Erik Visser  noted; "You have to capitalize on your opportunities and we were unable to do that today."

Just over four minutes after Deal scored what turned out to be the winning goal, Omphroy put a nice move on Coupe as he dove for the ball, and found the net with his shot. 

Wiedeman finished the scoring in the 85th minute, and the Bears moved on to the second round of the tournament.

The game also marked the final match for USF seniors, and Seals players, Eric Conner, and Kyle Schlumpf. 

Cal next plays UC Santa Barbara (#15) at UCSB Harder Stadium Tuesday, November 25th, at 7:00pm.  The game marks the third time the two teams have met in the playoffs, with each team taking a win.
